Hello all. Going ice fishing on Clark lake this weekend and would love to hear any tips on how to be successful? I assume this warm up didn’t take away the safe ice. Mostly looking to put up a few tip ups and have a jigging pole. Don’t care what I catch. Anything helps thanks!
I see that Tapuat is no longer and is rebranded as Island City kombucha? Any info or dirt on this? Why Island City? Are they brewing on Washington Island now or are they just trying to leverage marketing?
We come every year there is good ice to fish a few days around Presidents Day weekend but the guide we usually get a fishing house from isn’t doing it this year. Any recommendations for someone we can rent a shack from? We have all of our own gear and can even bring our own SxS to get around if needed just want a place to fish.
Can anyone recommend a good Door County cookbook?
I already have The Lake Michigan Cottage Cookbook, which has a Door County section, but I would love more for my collection.
Thank you!
We rented a house with a couple families for July 4th right next to Centerpointe Marina. We are looking into renting a pontoon to have while we are there but have never been to the area before.
Can you share what restaurants are nearby where you can dock? Or other places to dock that would be cool to visit? We are trying to decide how many days to have the boat and want to better understand what is boating distance around us to explore!
Thank you so much!
Hello,
I’m thinking of starting a small business for couples to elope. There are a few companies similar to this already but not in the Wisconsin area.
Event space that fits 10-30 people.
Package price would ideally be between $1,000-$1,500
Included in price:
I’d also use this space for other events such as bridal showers, birthdays, work events, and nonprofit events.
Would people in Door County and visitors be interested in a space like this?
Please let me know your thoughts and feedback.
Thank you!!
Hi,
With the closing of Hugel Haus, what’s a great spot for German food in Door County? We’ll be staying in Sister Bay in June, two kids and two adults.
Thank you!
I recently moved to Sturgeon Bay and I am loving it here! But, my favorite hobby is woodworking and when I moved, I had to leave the wood shop I used to use behind. I can still do some small things in the garage but can’t afford to buy a bunch of power tools at the moment.
Does anyone know of a woodshop/maker space in the Door County area for the public to use?
Thanks!
Resort (lodge and cottage and restaurant) sold to owners of Wild Tomato. Golf course not part of sale.
Disappointed given how poorly WT is being run. Operations will stay with current management for 2025 and will be “reviewed” thereafter.
Barton on Bay has been a pleasant surprise. It is one of the few dining/drinking options left that has direct water views/access and they hosted some great music events.
Hope WT owners don’t screw it up and really hope they don’t try and real estate develop the land into McMansions on the water (RIP Fred and Fuzzies).

We have three families (6 adults, 7 kids) looking to visit Door County this summer, and we’re trying to find lodging. We’re open to being able to stay all in one big house, or renting separate cottages or condos, or just getting a whole bunch of rooms in a hotel. Does anyone have any recommendations? We’d like to be north of Sturgeon Bay for sure, but otherwise are flexible.
Hi! I am going to DC in August for a wedding and have booked with the Village Green Lodge through Expedia. I haven’t been charged for the room yet and it’s been 2ish months since I made the booking. I’ve tried calling the lodge but get the voicemail every time…I’m just wondering if anyone has stayed there previously or has any insight to this issue!
TIA!!!
Currently training on Zwift thinking about the fall warmth 😭😭
Hadn’t tried Wild Tomato in a few years because it was always disappointing. Saw that it had new owners so decided to try again. Wow what a mistake.
Arrived about 4:45. Inside was cold (I know it’s winter, but several people with their coats on to eat?). Waited a minute for them to clear a table. The floor under had a napkin, chewed up straw, and some salad. Chair had food on it.
One of the four plates delivered in a stack had old food on it.
The beer list on the menu was different from the beer list on the chalkboard. Didn’t matter because our beer never showed up. Had to ask again for a round of waters.
Got the donation creation but it was delivered without the yogurt sauce, cilantro, and seeds. Didn’t realize it til a couple slices in. Ordered a veggie add pepperoni and didn’t get pepperoni. All pizzas had dry and borderline burned crust with undercooked toppings (I sure hope all meat is pre-cooked before going in the pizza oven. If not, this ain’t being done safely.)
Asked for the beer to be taken off the tab but still tipped 20% on the $100 tab because I’m guessing these new owners aren’t making it worth it for these too few workers to care about doing it right.
Unsanitary and maybe unsafe. Incomplete order. MAJOR FAIL. Disappointed.
So, New York style pizza doesn’t cook right in a wood oven that hot. NY crust in 600+ oven will always be dry and likely burn before the toppings will get soft. Since you have the nice oven, commit to Neapolitan style. Do a smaller menu with only things you do well.
00 flour and a polish pre-ferment. Use a mix of fresh low-moisture mozzarella and a nutty cheese like fontina and a tangy parm. Current sauce is bland—do San Marzano toms with olive oil and salt and a hit of fresh herbs. Basic is better.
Create some interesting items. Lean into local like the original menu did with the Green and Gold (keep that with better cheese and sauce). Do a cherry-tom sauce, cheese blend, pulled pork, dried cherries, pickled onion, and jalapeño. Do a mascarpone and vanilla creme fraiche dessert pizza drizzled with cherries, mint leaves, and lemon glaze.
Before you charge anyone else $24 for a pizza… Clean up and make it safe. Expand indoor seating. Get a heating system that works right. Fix the workflow. Or maybe just do takeout and six-packs, and not table service in the winter. Takeout and beer cans in the summer with expanded outdoor picnic seating. You’ll make more money, have happier workers, and more satisfied customers.
Considering relocating to the Sturgeon Bay Area. What is the job and housing market looking like? Fairly mechanically inclined Machinist.
Hi everybody, sorry if this has been asked and answered before. I'm sure you field these inquiries a lot, so if there is a better resource I'd be glad to know of it. There's a lot of interesting lodging choices available, but it seems that what we're looking for is a bit harder to locate. We're a family of five and are hoping to stay somewhere close to either the bay-side or lake-side, but we're struggling to find a place that also has a kitchen. So I guess we're looking for something more like a condo, rather than some of these resorts. We plan on dining out too, but not every meal! Are there any places in the county where we should be focusing on? Thanks in advance.
I want to go to Door County for a mini vacation sometime before July of this year. I want to go stargazing at least one night but don’t want to have to camp. I know stargazing is good at North Peninsula State Park and Crossroads at Big Creek. Does anyone know the logistics of stargazing at those places? Can I just show up after dark? Is there grassy areas for me to lay? Can you stargaze at NPSP without camping there? Any recommendations for lodging nearby? Any Airbnb or hotels with good stargazing? Thank you for any advice !!
I'm looking to take a trip in June with my boyfriend and my parents. We like more of a quieter vibe, and I've heard the Lake Michigan side might be the way to go. I'm looking at AirBnBs, but I'm also really open to check out more locally owned cabins/cottages as well. I went over 10 years ago with my parents, and I remember it being a really quality trip camping at Peninsula State Park, but we're looking for actual beds this time. We live simply, but I'm a sucker for a pool or hot tub to come back to after a day of being at parks. Any suggestions or favorite spots? It's more of a relaxing trip with a couple nice dinners and downtime than needing to be anything extremely "busy" or active. Thanks!
Does anyone have issues with Consumer Cellular in North Door County? I’m looking to switch and my home is in Ellison Bay.
Hey all. Were taking my brother around next weekend and I was wondering if there are any antique stores that stay open during the winter. Cheers.
My family and I live in Sturge and every time I google CPR/infant CPR classes, I can only find online options. Does anyone know of any in person classes happening in the county?
Does anyone have suggestions for a good rehearsal dinner spot in the Sister Bay/Ephraim/Fish Creek area? Willing to go to Egg Harbor too.
It will probably be about 30-40 people. My mom was thinking maybe Wild Tomato, but I wasn’t sure if they’d have a good space for it and I also was thinking maybe something slightly more elevated.
ETA: I should have mentioned that our wedding is end of August 2025! Just trying to plan ahead.
My mother spends summers in Egg Harbor. She is wanting to be up there again this summer from mid June - early September. Concern is that she is getting to where she needs some assistance. Not daily for perhaps 3 -4 times per week wither some shopping type errands, possibly some light house cleaning or laundry, and some she can call if she needs some assistance. Looking for some advice or recommendations.
We are coming into town for the weekend and we area looking for things to do. We are social and enjoy cocktails. Any ideas?
Can anyone think of a place my family and I can take pictures inside? There are plenty of places outdoors that we can think of but it will be rather cold this weekend. Thanks!
So am tryna get out of my comfort zone abit and get out of the house a little more, any suggestions on any hobbies that could help? I figured asking locally was my best bet.
