The plastic trim on my front door broke. Is there a cheap easy way to fix it/make it look prettier?
Hello, I have tried many different places. I have called around and have not been given very good advice. The trim on my car doors is nearly destroyed and it's letting lots of water in the car. I don't want to give up on this ol' girl. She is mechanically sound. This issue is destroying the interior and any help would be much appreciated.
Shops in my area tell me they can't help me, the parts don't exist to buy, junkyards near me have crushed all of the cars of this gen. I just want to seal the inside, preferably without making it look horrendous. Also, before someone says it, I have posted in multiple forums for Cavaliers specifically. No luck.
I'm getting this old truck fixed up to put on the road. It is expected to get beat up off road and so I am not interested in paying a fortune for paint work. I jast want it to be the same colour all over. I also have more bodywork to do on it once I have the time, so I want to be able to touch up or blend paint easily down the line.
I have used rattle cans on smaller panels before and done a good enough job. What are the downsides to doing a bigger project like this that way?
I will probably be sanding and painting panel by panel, in a heated shop that is not a paint booth.
Is there anything I should know in advance? Is the price difference worth buying a good sprayer? Are there better options than Trem-Clad or Rustoleum that would be worth the time and money?
I don't plan on doing any post sanding or clear coat.
I’m looking to buy a 2010 VW Polo this Saturday and there is an indent in the Drivers Seat and Backrest from the previous driver (bum and back prints haha). I just wondered if anyone knows a way of getting these imprints out of the Car Seat without having to replace the entire seat or another vigorous and expensive task?
Thank you.
First brand new car we've ever owned, mostly parking it by itself at far ends of parking lots, and sometime yesterday (not entirely sure) THIS. Murphy's law, right?
I do think this is just a weird paint transfer and minor scratches in the clear, so I am mostly going to go with the method this YouTuber describes. Think I'll try the WD40 and very light magic eraser to remove all the paint transfer, then use the 3M compound and polish he shows (but does not use) in the video, and then the clay bar to be extra anal before a touch of wax if all looks good.
So, for folks with more experience than me, a couple questions:
-Does the ChrisFix method seem sound? Any cautions, additions, subtractions?
-Anything other than the 3M products that I should consider?
-Right now, I am feeling pretty confident, and I think with some care and patience I can get this to almost perfect. Except, that is, for the textured plastic around the wheel well. I'm currently thinking just microfiber and WD40, but I am so open to any ideas or suggestions.
THANK YOU!!!!
For context I was changing the oil and rolled to far forward on the chocks. I'm thinking some sort of glue/patch? Not too sure what would work on the plastic trim.
Model is a 2024 Toyota Corolla SE
Any help is appreciated!
2013 Honda Accord sedan. Car was hit on the front of the right fender. Insurance is calling it a total loss. Needs a new fender and bumper cover, but things don't look bent underneath, no airbags deployed etc. Lady who hit it was going maybe 20-25 mph. I was thinking of fixing it myself, but then we got a detailed list of work that would need to be done. The autobody shop says it needs a new apron assay, rail assay, outer panel, separator, battery tray, and strut support. I've never done anything with unibody as all my cars have been older. Should I just let it go? Is it worth trying to fix it myself? (Obviously professional work would be prohibitively expensive, otherwise they wouldn't put it as a total loss).
Cross posting.
Garage door didn’t open all the way and my 2024 Kia Carnival shark fin antenna popped right off and severed some wires. Is there any way to DIY fix this to avoid paying an arm and a leg at the dealership?
My fuel pump died and I didn't want to drop the tank. So I was following a youtube mechanic that cut a hole in this exact spot to find the fuel pump on his 2006 Sienna. Of course they moved it a bit further back in 2007...
How would you go about fixing this without welding? It is above a plastic gas tank so I don't want to weld. Thank you for your help!
I even had a pole laying underneath car trying to unlock it , it didnt work ,
Hi all. I pulled out of my parking spot and slightly into a metal bike rack (wasn’t paying attention, my fault) and it resulted in a few small scratches. My fingernail doesn’t really catch on them.
What is the best was to fix this? I bought some touch up paint, but would it be preferred to get it professional fixed? Typically, what would this run me at an auto repair shop? Thanks in advance!

Hi,
I’d like to install a front bumper with a bullbar on my Nissan Patrol Y61. Could you let me know what is allowed in europe and what isn’t? I’m looking for a bullbar like the one in the image, which is legal to drive with. If you’d like to see the car, my Instagram is: peter_thepatrol.
Thanks in advance!
Hello! I have recently tried to scour the internet for the body dimensions of a hyundai accent 2009, specifically the front and back bumpers, for a project I want to do. Does anybody know where can I get technical drawings and specific dimensions for said parts, especially concerning radius of the curves and what not. Anything that would specify the exact shape of it so that it could be transferred into 3d CAD. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
My 2017 subaru crosstrek started making a horrible noise when stopping, starting, and idling, so I looked under the hood while someone turned off and off the car. I believe that what I’m seeing is the AC Compressor Clutch, and it’s completely damaged, askew, and partially ground away. How do I fix this myself? Thank you!
Need fixed for safety, don’t have access to A welder. On my 2009 civic. Thanks!
Noticed some paint starting to chip above my door. This is a 4x4 off road car, so not too worried about looks. Just want to prevent it getting worse and avoid rusting. Any tips?
I noticed that this stain remained when j wiped some dirt the car. wiped it off with swirl/scratch remover. Also tried a clay bar.
It is light , and causes the paint to have a light tint.
Is there anyway to remove the stain?
I'm working on my first car repair project - fixing the hatchback liftgate on my 2008 Toyota Prius. During disassembly, I had to drill out some seized bolts and now need replacements.
The hardware store (Ace) identified them as either 10/32" thread or M5 T-bolts, but they didn't have exact matches. I found similar ones online but they only come in bulk quantities.
Questions:
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, especially from those who've worked on Prius liftgates before. Thanks!
Picked up this car for a pretty good deal, just has a few dents like these to fix. This one is a bit more than I've dealt with before, though - best way to fix this?
EDIT: This isn’t a business idea, but a body shop project idea.
I'm setting up a garage body shop and looking for advice on what I should keep in mind. Specifically, I'm wondering about the impact of colder temperatures on processes like coating, painting, and drying. Are there precautions or adjustments I should make to ensure quality results?
My initial plan is to divide the garage into separate work and spray booth area. I’ll build the spray booth using a wooden frame covered with plastic sheeting, and I’ll install a filtered blower to ensure proper airflow in and out of the area.
What should I keep in mind? Any advice?
