Disabled veterans not allowed to talk about the threats to disability benefits from a certain plan for next year by a certain group of people

Why are disabled veterans' subs being prevented from discussing the implications of that Project?

I couldn't care less about the politicking, I'm concerned for what happens if disabled veterans lose their livelihoods. This Project has life or death consequences for the most vulnerable among us.

Whatever clown on those subs that is reading what I wrote is completely failing to understand that I'm not talking politics, that I'm asking why trying to plan ahead for this possibility is prohibited and not done so explicitly. Imagine going out to sea without planning ahead and you end up not being allowed to discuss a stores load let alone actually do a stores load. The fault lies on whoever prohibits discussion.

Call me paranoid but there's something shady and weird about refusing to publish a rule that can get you banned.

Who among you relies upon disability income for your livelihood?

What sorts of contingency plans do you have to survive if this project is executed and your disability payments are no longer coming in?

Is discussion of the existential threat to veterans' disability benefits posed by a certain Republican plan for next year if their candidate wins the election (Project 2025) also prohibited in this sub?

I'm new to the veterans benefits sub so I might be missing some background, but I just got a temporary prohibition from participating in the veterans benefits sub for unintentionally breaking a community rule that was never explicitly published about discussing that project (and then unintentionally breaking a Reddit rule regarding the breaking of that unpublished rule). Apparently the same unpublished bullshit rule applies on the veterans sub too and they won't even allow the fact that the rule remains unpublished to be questioned. Turns out both of those subs share the same mods.

Whatever mod is reading is completely failing to understand that I'm not talking politics, that I'm asking why trying to plan ahead for this possibility is prohibited and not done so explicitly. Call me paranoid but there's something shady and weird about refusing to publish a rule that can get you banned.

This is concerning because the execution of that plan could literally mean life or death for many disabled veterans and being unable to discuss it in an extremely relevant forum prevents us from being able to plan for the worst.

So I'd like to know:

Who among you relies upon disability income for your livelihood?

What sorts of contingency plans do you have to survive if Project 2025 is executed and your disability payments are stripped?

Does the same unpublished rule on those other subs apply here?

Has anyone else encountered that same issue by unintentionally breaking an unpublished rule there?

Is there a specific reason that someone will not or can not publish that rule explicitly?

What the hell did I miss?

I sincerely appreciate the sharing of information on all of these subs. This one issue seems inconsistent to me and I'm trying to figure out what exactly the problem is and where it lies.

Developing a new mobility platform

I'll start off by clarifying that I'm not a veteran. However in 2022 I was shot in the spine (lower thoracic) and have since been developing a mobility platform that would allow me to move quickly over rough terrain, position my body in a way that I could effectively use large 2 handed tools again (axes, chainsaws, sledge hammers, ECT.), and requires no input from my hands to move it, so I can move with my hands full. I've been told that injuries like mine are not uncommon in the disabled veteran community, and wanted to know if this type of device sounds interesting to anyone on here?

100% Disability Homestead Exemption Texas

My wife recently was awarded 100% VA disability. We only own one home in Texas. Recently we rented out this home and rented a different home so I could be closer to work. Question is, if we still only have one home but aren’t currently occupying it, can we still file a homestead exemption to pay no property tax?

Student loans

Hey I’m 100% and I’m in school. I don’t really know much but what is the student loan forgiveness for this program. I know we get them forgiven but is it just federal loans or does something like Sallie Mae count as well?

Also if it’s just certain ones if somebody knows which loans they are that are forgiven. Thank you

Service dog

Hello fellow vets, I am looking for information on having a service animal for my mental health conditions. Currently rated a 70 for MH, in addition to other things. Does anybody have layman’s terms knowledge about where to get assistance for paying for one of these dogs? I know the full out of pocket course for these is enormous. Thanks

Fiancé to a war vet

Hello. I am in love with my fiancé who is a wounded combat vet. It’s been two years now since we met. We fell in love the first day and have been together everyday. He stayed at my place and then I moved in with him. He was perfect. Now he is moody almost everyday. He is P&T 100%, 43 yrs old, retired. I put all my money into his place. Now I am just hoping he goes back to being less moody. He to me seems like he is easily angered and annoyed. He doesn’t think he is. Any advice? Is this a thing with war vets?

DEA Benefits

My spouse qualifies for DEA. Has anyone got experience having used it? Is it a straightforward process? What did you end up studying and where? I would be interested to hear if anyone did a vocational course. We are based in Florida. Thanks in advance.

I'm 100 PT and I don't work. How do I stop feeling useless?

I can't hold down a job to save my life. I've been back three and a half years and have had around 10 jobs and now no one will hire me. Everytime I work I make myself worse as well. How do I get over the constant feeling of uselessness? I feel like I'm not contributing anything to the world and I'm just fighting my own mind to survive.

Hi! My name is Ria! Having my own experience with disabilities and knowing people with disabilities, I am super passionate about disability accessibility and inclusivity. Fitness advice

Hi guys!

I’m 26 years old. Got out of the military earlier this year (7 years straight active) and I took a break from working, working out for about 3 or 4 months and now I can’t even workout anymore. I feel like my metabolism slowed down so much and its so easy to gain weight and with all my injuries (feet, knee, lower back and carpal tunnel) it’s so hard for me to find something that doesn’t cause me a lot of pain to do fitness wise. I started doing some “old people” workouts like biking and going for walks and hiking but that doesn’t shave off the pounds or make me feel like I had a good workout like in the gym. Also recently started doing kettle bell workouts and that’s kind nice besides a little back pain. What do you guys do fitness wise while “disabled”?

Health care coverage question

I am 100% p&t and all my healthcare goes through the VA. I am satisfied with the care I receive. I recently received a positive decision on my SSDI claim. Part of that is Medicare. With the VA covering medical am I able to opt out of the Medicare part B or does the VA require that I keep Medicare B? Do I need to submit my Medicare info to the VA?
Thanks!

Who helps in time of disaster

I am a 100% IU disabled vet. I am in th process of turning a metal shed into my permanent housing. While I am working on the conversion I was able to stay occupy the old homeplace house. Well, this pass week the area I live in and the honor of getting visited by tornado. Thank the Lord no one was killed but many homes and boats are lost. Some people are still without electrcituy and this happened on the 24th of May. Well, the place I lived in has a roof damage due to a tree landing. Power lines are still across the lawn,, several other large trees are uprooted in the yard. Now,. I have no place to run to but to the local motel, which I did. Now, my funds are gone and I have to be out tomorrow. I really need another week here so that I may get my shed wired up for electric, insulation and ac done so I could move into it . So my question is there any resources I could ask for assistance.

GI Bill Appeal

Hello, got a disabled vet I work with and I am a veteran myself. Prior to getting his 100% disability and TBI diagnosis, my vet used his GI Bill to go college. He’s 90% compete on his degree but stopped due to the struggle of the TBI. Now that he has the proper diagnosis and evidence showing that his grades suffered from his undiagnosed condition at the time. Is there anyway to appeal the use of his GI Bill and get time back by showing the VA this medical history?

Vets with bladder cancer

Are there any Vietnam War vets with bladder cancer, presumably from Agent Orange exposure who might be interested in a monthly zoom meeting to talk through our medical issues and concerns, hear and share about our therapy and what’s on the horizon? Or, talk about the status of how the VA is working our disabilities (and what other AO issues we might have.)

Text me if interested.

VA hearing to reduce 100% T&P rating

My husband was awarded 100% TP rating a few years ago. A few months ago he got a letter saying they were reducing the rating and not a month later we got another letter stating he has 100% again. Now he just got a phone call that they want him to go to a hearing because they want to reduce it again. Anyone have this happen ? No explanation or letters were sent. He is also 55 yrs old and I thought they didn’t change once you hit that age. I’m sure it will all work out but just curious if anyone has had this happen.

Injury claim help.

Hey everyone. Was wondering if anyone may be able to help with an issue I have. In 2017 I went and claimed my neck and lower back among a few other smaller things. Now I never had access to va dot gov or my healthy etc... nothing worked and even the VA had little luck. So I never went back and checked on those claims. Now I remember receiving my letter about the acceptance and the monthly checks, however unless I missed it I never saw what was and wasn't accepted. I was getting a relatively good amount so I never questioned what it was.

Recently 7 years after all that, after filing for my wife and kids as dependants I had a break on VA dot Gov and was finally able to get on. I went through everything looking at what I could and saw that my neck was never even put in. They never added it and everything looked like I never included it. My question is how should I go about adding that and hopefully dating back to when I originally filed it? I was looking to also get an increase on my lower back as I'm now having many difficulties moving around and even working full time hours. However I stopped going to the VA as they're too far away and they don't accept the hospitals closer to me than them.

The new hospital has me on nerve medication and physical therapy, but that wouldn't be in the VAs record to support the increase. I'm not sure how to go about that either. Any help would be very much appreciated thank you.

Grants for veterans education and training

I’m active duty but about to separate, and I have a part 107 drone pilots license. I want to get training on the next level up for licensing but to do that I need a bigger drone that’s out of my price range. Are there any education benefits for this, or grants?

PTSD claim question: decision letter avail but stuck in step 3 w/ exam rework, no other deferred claim

Any ideas? I just got rated 70% for ptsd. However, claim is still in step 3/gathering evidence with a request in for exam rework. I have no other claims so it can’t be anything related to deferred claims.

Anyone have any ideas? I’m hung up on why I would get a rating, but it’s back with the examiner for rework.

Advice much appreciated fellow Vets! :)

Employer help

Hey guys, new here but need some help. I'm service connected with knees and back. My truck has the correct plates and placard to park in the blue, I don't necessarily need it but seeing as I am on my feet for 12-14 hours a day sometimes walking 100 yards less is a God send. Recently a text was sent to all supervisors that we aren't allowed to park in the spots up front (right next to where all my coworkers park) but if we need to park in handicap we can park across the facility in the dedicated handicap employees spot. This would make my walk 4 times as far. Now I'm not a puss but it was the fact that multiple supervisors made snide comments regarding if I'm so broken I shouldn't be there or that I can limp across the lot just fine. What should I do?
