Spoiler warning for new players!
I've loved the first Deus Ex since it came out and I think it's the best game ever. While replaying it recently after a few years, I contemplated things that, at least in my opinion, could have made the game even better. I can't think of many things right now, but some things popped into my mind while playing. It's a shame that the developers were in a rush and had financial limits not allowing them to polish the game as it deserved.
Here are my ideas for things I'd love to have seen implemented in the original game:
The possibility to stay with UNATCO, at least for longer. Yes, I am aware this is mentioned a lot and was even planned for the game. Just saying. Would have been interesting to end up fighting Paul.
A Bob Page ending. This would connect to the first point, but not necessarily only that. It would still work if you work against MJ12 in the game - you could simply choose to wait for the right kind of offer from Page at the end of the game.
A buy and sell system. The buy options in the game are very poor and limited. For the non-lethal gameplay style there's usually nothing for you to buy after the first missions. You just end up full on ammo and guns lying around that you never use. Not to mention you collect a lot of money for nothing.
This connects to the non-lethal style - the game doesn't recognize or care whether you kill or keep enemies alive at later stages. It only seems to matter in the first missions. I can imagine that some of your later enemies deserve to die, but the game is about choices.
I'd love to see Miguel reappear or be mentioned later in the game if you saved him.
I wish JC hadn't been told about being under UNATCO HQ if you keep talking to Paul (possibly others too? I don't remember) at the MJ12 base. The surprise impact would have been greater for a new player.
Have you got more of such ideas/remarks? Things you'd love to have seen in the final game? Or things you'd like changed/done differently?
I recently got a laptop from a friend of mine and installed Deus Ex mankind divided from epic games.
But after reinstalling both the game and the launcher i still cant get the game to start. It only does the cloud syncing says running for a second then nothing.
After following tips from the epic site it still wont start and now gives me error texts
Hello,
Would like to ask for some advice about rendering options.
Because as read on web, it seems you actually can get the lighting to render without noticeable banding or coronas. And usually as solution it seems to use D3D10 or enhanced OpenGL options, where first also requires ClassicLighting=True in config.
On image it's shown how it looks on my end, what pieces I'm missing?, because in all cases feels light could be improved for sure. (D3D11 is over bright, probably needs HDR tweaking.
This is GMDXv10 - 2022.04.01 Update.
Man I just started playing deus ex mankind divided, the first deus ex game I’ve played and damn. I had no idea it was a whole ass rpg like this! I guess I always thought it was just another generic first person shooter man was I wrong. I’m enjoying this game so much and damn Jensen is such an awesome character. The game also looks pretty good still in 60fps. Back when square still made good games.
I am outraged embracer canceled the new deus ex that was being developed. Fuck embracer. Pic for attention
I've been attempting to record a video of Deus Ex 1 gameplay, but each attempt always has the recording come out as a black screen with the recorded gameplay only taking up a corner of the screen. What's the recommended resolution?
So I just finished mankind divided, and I wanted to look more into the period before Ruzicka station bombing. I noticed that some of the people that I talked to mentioned something about police station bombing, but I couldn't find anything about it on the internet?
Purchased through steam, from in-game "SHOP" menu. Tried restarting the game, the praxis points are still not showing up
I recently redownloaded it and am currently doing a pacifist run, after having done the same for Deus Ex 1 and 2, leading into Human Revolution (HR) and Mankind Divided (MD). It’s like a micro version of Human Revolution, with an art style that still looks great despite the low-quality textures. The game features excellent locales, open-ended mission design, and a pretty good story. Even on a Pixel XL, it looks impressive.
The constant loading between hub areas is annoying and reminds me of Invisible War. However, I feel the developers did their best given the limitations they were working with. I would have liked to see a continuation of this game because all the elements are there, and they could have really made something great with this framework. Considering the state of mobile games, I think The Fall is a solid single-player FPS that, unfortunately, includes the microtransactions common in modern game design (not just mobile). It's forgivable because I never felt like I was missing out by not paying to win.
Reading the reviews for the game on Steam, it seems like people either ignore or are unaware that it was ported from mobile and designed for touchscreen controls. This misunderstanding is disheartening because the game is unfairly criticized for issues inherent to mobile game design
I recently got into Deus ex, I finished the first one (2000s) and I loved it, immediatly jumped to Human Revolution and I also loved it, I could play for hours without even realizing it (which is a rare thing for me). Once I finished HR I was excited to start MD and oh boy was I not ready for it.
The starting level in Dubai was great but once in Prague, I can’t play for more than 30 minutes before getting insanely bored, I legit feel lost in Prague, the level is huge with very few informations and while I perfectly understand the immersive aspect of not giving the player any informations about quests, it loses me very quickly.
Will it get better after some time ou should I just quit as the game is definitely not for me ?
I swear I was just playing and I noticed they misspelled Jeddah as Jedda.
I prefer to play vanilla Deus Ex on my Windows XP rig, are there any mods that are compatible with Windows XP?
Hi guys! Found a hidden elevator at The Throat location. Can you tell me what it is for? I was able to use it to enter several apartments, but found nothing but garbage.
Has anyone considered making such game? Would you want such a game over the continuation of the Jensen stuff?
Probably a long shot, but hoping someone here with programming knowledge has some insight. I made a day/night cycle in my custom mission script by having a count in Timer() that changes the ZoneInfo lighting based on the number the count hits. The problem is that it resets to 0 (midnight) when entering another map (with the same mission number and script). Looking at the log, it seems like the mission script is reloaded when entering the new map so that's probably what resets it.
Would anyone have an idea how the count could be transferred between maps? I can somewhat half-ass it with flags and PreTravel(), but it's not accurate.
