I attempted to create that iconic cover. In the Remake
Like is there a name for the specific audio/explosion?
Hey y'all,
With the series having been on sale I thought I'd post my fix for the game not starting up on new hardware. I'm rocking an Intel 14600K and RTX 3070, which I discovered the game doesn't like because I have over 10 cores. To actually get the game running, you'll need the dxwrapper that was posted by a guy in the Steam forums.

Unzip the files and add both to your Dead Space 2 directory. This will allow the game to actually launch.
If that doesn't work, there might be an issue with the activation of the game (because thanks, EA). To fix this, run the activation.exe file as an administrator. The popup will tell you if it's successful.
Next thing you'll want is to run 4GB Patch. Since Dead Space 2 uses a 32 bit architecture, running this application will modify the exe to allow it to use 4GB instead of 2GB of system ram, this helped reduce micro stuttering for me. All you have to do is download the app, run it, then choose deadspace2.exe

Also, V-Sync in this game is limited 30fps (thanks to the times) so you'll want to use your driver to cap the refresh rate and/or enable V-Sync. Since I use a G-Sync compatible monitor, I go into Nvidia Control Panel -> Manage 3D Settings -> Program Settings -> Dead Space 2 and changed these:
Since the hardware I have is overkill for the game, I also run DSR in place of any anti-aliasing strategies. To do this, you'll just have to enable DSR in the Global Settings:
This just means that when I'm in the game, a higher resolution is exposed in the settings: 2880x1620 (I play at 1080p). The game is rendered at that resolution then downscaled to increase sharpness. The image quality is freaking awesome and it shows that the game really holds up (zoom in to pic to see no aliasing visibility)
Game runs flawlessly now.
It’s just something about typical humans, finding themselves in insanely horrific situations. My favorite scenes from DS2 are the ones where isaac is just so exhausted and tired from his endeavor through the sprawl. I fucking love dead space, thanks for coming to my ted talk ❤️
ive never played the games, ive been going in blind. just finished the remake an hour ago(5star btw) and i load up the second game and the jump scares fuck me up more than the first. is it just me? bc i cant handle it honestly😭
Hi!
I finished the DS Remake on my PS5 and then started my NG+, playing through the first 9 chapters. Then I put it aside because I didn’t have time to play. A week later, I found out that all my saves had rolled back to the beginning of chapter 10 of my first playthrough, and I lost all my progress (nodes, missed logs, etc.). Needless to say, I was furious.
Has anyone else had the same problem? I have no idea what could have happened. I didn’t check my cloud-synced saves back then, so maybe I somehow lost save syncing for a week or so, and when it started working again, it rolled back my saves? I know it’s a dumb theory, but what else could have happened?
Now I’m frustrated and will need some time before I feel like trying it again.
I’m on ps5 and the cutscene where mercer kills temple doesn’t have any npcs in it. Issac is talking to empty air and when the cutscene ends the glass breaks but the hunter doesn’t spawn Not only this but necromorphs in general don’t spawn and the objectives are wonky and are trying to make me complete objectives I already completed This all occurred after the PlayStation 30th anniversary system update thing I tried to look up fixes on this subreddit but everyone was on steam and none of the fixes worked I can’t be the only one who’s dealt with this on ps5 so some advice or fixes would be greatly appreciated 😭😭
I played the first one a long time ago when I was much younger, absolutely shat myself that time that's for sure, but it wasn't that bad as far as I could remember and it has a deep place in my heart. I blame my brother for getting me hooked on horror games, I remember I used to sit next to him and watch him play them all the time.
I got the game as a gift a couple of weeks back and I thought hey maybe I could go down memory lane and finally play the game from which I have distinct fragments of memories with my older brother which I cherich a lot. It was a fucking mistake.
Listen, I played it all, classics like silent hill and resident evil, soma, outlast etc... I could handle those, but something about this game made me unable to do a full hour of gameplay without pausing once in a while and saving multiple times between jumpscares.
I have NEVER felt this way playing a horror game ever in my life, like my blood pumps cold and I'm hyperaware of every single movement and sound around me. The sounds in the vents, the distant screams of the xenomorph in the background, the flickering lights and the fact that I scared myself shitless when I stepped on a bucket.
I thought the preschool part was fucked, but the chills I got when I could FEEL how scared Isaac was when reentering the Ishimura, that was my breaking point. My ass was clenched the entire time I was there and was a hair away from just Alt+F4ing.
Probably the worst time I ever had playing a game was when going through the sterilization process for the first time, I just stood in a corner and aimed my gun waiting for literally anything to happen, but nothing did. A couple minutes later the anxiety got to me and I had to take a break cause my SYOMACH WAS HURTING from being so on edge for so long.
everything about the game is perfection, I'll buy DS3 now.
Finally get it guys, thanks for all the advices. See ya in DS2 remake!
I’d like to think whoever built this lasted for a while.
As a newcomer to the Dead Space series, I was pretty excited to pick up the remake the other day. Unfortunately, I have run into the notorious power cell bug. Right after the anti-grav section in Chapter 2, you need to use a power cell that didn't spawn. I tried doing things like moving the game to a different drive, but that didn't work either. Any help is appreciated!
Just beat the game, and I am trying to find a song. I think its maybe midway through the credits, fast paced sounds great but I can’t seem to find it does anyone know the song name?
I don't like to presume but that Necro it's really a deep throat 🤭🤭
Bought the original trilogy + remake on steam recently.
I gotta say that DS1 impressed me a lot. Gameplay is great, Ishimura is atmospheric and just overall moody as hell. Sound design is super well done, the random whispers you hear at times were terrifying. Shooting itself is also amazing, I love how all weapons have alternative modes.
Necromorphs and shooting limbs is genius, just enough to make it stand out from other shooters but still keep the overall satifaction. Gore in this game is also done amazingly well, visuals overall are pretty spectaculat. If somebody told me that its a game from 2017 I wouldhave believed them lol.
Story is great, "Make us whole again" sounds ominious and its such a great line. Twist with Kendra and Nicole really suprised me, overall both story and lore are pretty excellent.
I could praise almost every single aspect of this game really: suits, weapons, healthbar showing on Isaac himself, great voice acting, fun as hell 0 gravity parts, breathtaking spectacle of final boss and Leviathan and absolutely dreadful atmosphere throught the game
Overall 10/10, a masterpiece of survival/action horror, cant believe im just playing it for the first time in 2024 and how well it holds up. Thanks for reading, off to DS2 I go!
Considering the Fact that the marker Makes people hallucinate and hear voices similar to people suffering from schizophrenia, would one be able to counter them via a mirror or a recording device?
This is a method being used by some people to find out whether what they are seeing is a hallucination or real
