ADA Violation?

Student has asthma and is in a dorm room with a student who is vaping and using a weed pen in the room. This has been reported (multiple times) but housing refuses to place the student in a single. Is this a violation of ADA section 504?

Can I get into DePaul with a 2.6?

I just visited recently and loved the campus and the city. I'm applying for a BFA in Film, so the Cinespace connection is also a huge plus. I've heard it's relatively easy to get in (and all the "if you can pay, you're in" stuff).

My stats are: 2.6 GPA, 1130 SAT, 4 and 3 scores on two AP tests. My grades obviously arent great but I also have a pretty extensive film portfolio and am a 4 year varsity/club athlete with a job. My family can definitely pay the tuition, but DePaul is need blind so I'm not sure it matters. I'm also applying early action. Is it really as easy as people say to get in, or am I at risk of being denied?

Tuition Increase?

Are there hidden fees I don't know about, I unregistered for the student health insurance and the ray fees and I still have to pay more than the previous year?

PSYC 240/340 tutoring!

Hello everyone, I am a recent graduate of Loyola University Chicago who majored in psychology. I have recently kick-started a non profit initiative. Essentially the organization tutors statistics, as it relates to psychology, and all proceeds are sent to an Afghani refugee relief organization directly. This way not only will you get help but will also be of help to so many in the process as a student at our organization. If you are interested in taking advantage of this tutoring resource and being part of an organization that can truly help so many lives, here is the link to learn more about it!

P.S (we will not be able to help you with SPSS guidance)

Favorite classes for Religious Dimensions and Philosophical Inquiry?

Just wondering which ones people are recommending. I'm searching for a class that's interesting and where workload isn't too much (ik "interesting" is objective, so I'm open to new ideas).

Appeal approved

Hey guys. I submitted a special circumstance appeal for my tuition and only got offered $1k more per quarter. Is that typical or could it be re-appealed? I know it’s better than nothing but the financial aid office literally had me running around gathering all medical notes and for $1k I feel like that’s nothing w our tuition rates 😭 Any advice?

Pre-Law with Finance Major

Hello,

I’m currently a senior in HS and I’m considering my options for my college next year. I plan on majoring in finance while on the pre-law track. I saw on the DePaul’s website that they don’t offer a Pre-Law major which is understandable because most schools don’t offer it anyway. But is the pre-law track only limited to political science majors or am I able to be on that track as a finance major as well? Thanks.

Regarding education loan

Has anyone taken education loans from Prodigy or mpower, I need to know when is the fund available in our accounts, lets say I reach in Chicago a week before the class start date. Since my loan amount includes living cost as well and I'll need it as as soon as I reach there.

Hello. I have questions about certain courses for the CDM college of DePaul.

Greetings again. I like to formulate plans ahead of time and want to ensure all my ducks are in a row before I go through with certain things. With that in mind, I want to know if it's possible to double-major in Game Design and Game Programming. These are two studies I want to major in, as I have been interested in games and how they're made since I was a child. Another option is to major in the gaming concentration of CS, as that interests me as well.

I am a sophomore in high school, so I don't think I can request information from DePaul yet. I hope you understand my questions.

MS Film and TV (Cinematography) review/experience?

Hello I'm an international student looking to apply to the MS program but haven't been able to find a review with regards to costs, convenience, equipment, students, faculty, etc (specific to this program). If you're currently enrolled in the same program or passed out recently, I'd be so so grateful for an honest review. I tried speaking to the admissions office rep and he was a little helpful but wasn't very elaborate when I asked about the overall costs that would be incurred and scholarship and student employment opportunities, I mean the tuition is pretty steep and there will obviously be extra fee. Anyhow, please help me out here, thanks!

Bro i cant do this shit lmfao

Taking six classes atm will have seven classes next quarter. 6 music theory classes through two years and have to take calculus in order to graduate with an SRT: Audio Technology degree. I know that I will not be using 80% of the shit when i get a real job. Entered the SOM with no experience in Music Theory and am getting so lost between all of my classes because I was not expecting to be taking classes for it. Feeling sorry for myself, but also I feel that it is justified somewhat. Is anybody else in a similar predicament? looking for solace

In the nicest way possible…

It is extremely annoying when people stop and talk in the middle of sidewalks or intersections. It’s not that hard to consider the other people walking and move out of the way. I constantly find myself walking in the grass or in the street to get around a group of people just standing in the way, just try to be more considerate

Before Posting Here, Ask Yourself: Did I Reach Out to DePaul First?

Hey all,

I’ve noticed some really important questions being posted here last couple of months, so I just wanted to give a quick reminder. If you have a critical issue—whether it's about scholarships, course selection, admissions, or something else that could seriously impact your academic journey—it’s always best to first reach out to the appropriate office or staff member at DePaul.

While this sub is a great place for advice and discussions, it’s important to keep in mind that the answers here may not always be accurate. For issues that truly matter, contacting the right department will give you the most reliable and timely information. After that, feel free to come back here to ask for opinions or share experiences—this community is definitely here to help, but starting with the official channels will save you time and stress in the long run.

Winter courses for 1st year CS Software Development

I’m a freshman taking CSC 299 instead of CSC 242 since I got a score of 4 on AP CSA and 4 on AP CSP. Do I still have to take CSC 241 and 242? I don’t understand why I was given credits for open electives either.

Uhhhh-

Second year student here. Plan on transferring to UIUC next fall. This seems to happen every quarter, I have a class that ends at 11:10 and another that starts at 2:40. My work is always finished either before classes or that first hour in between. I’m always fighting to stay awake during that period nearly everyday. Any ideas on what to do

Financial Aid

I can’t with the financial aid office. I submitted a special circumstances appeal in May. With the delays I understood that it may take longer but within these last two weeks of the month I have gone in and been told something different each time. One rep told me they’d review it and I’d get an answer the next day. Never happened. Went in again to check on that and was told within a couple weeks. Nothing so far and now my registration is on hold because I can’t pay this amount. Called today and was told a couple weeks again. Is there anything I can do? This appeal is what I have been banking on because I can’t get any additional loans and most scholarships will not apply to me. Any advice would be appreciated.

injury

I have a sprain in my ankle, which is making it difficult for me to walk. As a result, I will not be able to attend class or participate in any activities. Whom should I contact: my professors, the disability center, the dean, or another office? Is there any way for students to receive accommodations during this time?

IT/Web Development

Hi Reddit,

I have a question, how rigorous are the classes at DePaul for the IT/Web Development program? I'm a new transfer student, and I’m hoping to complete my bachelor's in 2-3 years while working part-time. Do you think taking 4 classes per quarter while working is going to be too much? Initially, I didn’t think about it too much, but when I tell people I plan to work and take 4 classes per quarter, they just wish me luck, lol.

Let me know how you manage your time or if you'd recommend taking only 3 classes instead of 4.

TIA 😊
