Just looking for your common everyday gym, nothing special.
Every morning, since Milton came through at least, I have been hearing at least one rooster crow, and then will hear him sometimes throughout the day. I live right behind Stetson, so there is no way any of the properties around me are outside of city lines and considered county.
The city ordinances prohibit chickens so while for several years, we have wanted to get two for eggs we haven’t. I know animals get displaced by hurricanes and figured maybe this was the case, especially since I only noticed it post hurricane. After this long and the rooster still growing from the same area every morning I assume it is just a backyard chicken coop.
If you are the person with the chickens, did you have to get a variance? Or are you just providing your neighbors with some extra eggs in hopes they don’t rat you out?
I’ve gone as far as looking into getting an emotional service chicken, who also needs an emotional service chicken, but feel like that’s just so many extra steps to get fresh eggs.
Does anyone have any experience or advice on this one?
Not really into gay scene. Open to all types of friends.
6 hours of Dubstep, Jungle and DNB. Free party at Sunflower Park, downtown Deland. Free event, all are welcome!
Looking for advice regarding some farm animals currently housed on a farm in Volusia County that is no longer in operation. The animals include horses, goats, and chickens. I’m looking to rehome them responsibly and ensure they go to good homes or appropriate facilities. Willing to pay to have these animals rehomed.
If anyone has recommendations for resources, shelters, rescues, or other organizations that might help, I would be incredibly grateful. Any contacts or advice would also be welcome. Thanks!
Hello!
I just moved to Deland I’m wanting to look into reclaimed irrigation for my sprinkler system as I’ve heard delands water bills are insanely expensive to what I’m used to in Orlando ($35 on average) lol.
Does anyone know the initial cost to get reclaimed hooked up? I’m in a new construction community and surprised they don’t already have reclaimed.
Yesterday there was a post that was pretty quickly deleted, complaining about our homeless population. The mentality that these people are better out of sight and out of mind baffles me. If you're truly concerned about these people's wellbeing (lookin at you, u/Left-Preparation-309), consider the realization that many of these folks are in need of help, not a ride in a police car to the next town over or to booking for "illegal camping."
Donations to things like Spare Change for Real Change go toward efforts to get people who are homeless or in poverty the help they need, allocating funds to places like The Neighborhood Center of West Volusia.
Anyone else feel free to chime in with additional ways to help those less fortunate.
Cheers to spreading positivity in our little town.
I’m a single parent with a four year old and I just bought my first house here. I’m the main caregiver for my son, and while my own parents help out here and there, all of the caregiving falls on me (bio dad is not involved). I don’t have any extended family here either. I’m tired, burnt out, and struggling to balance working full time and raising my son alone. I really want to make some friends who are in a similar situation and build a community of folks that can support and help each other. Are there any single parent meet up groups I can join? I’m sure there are general parent meet ups but I really want to connect with solo parent folks. Heck, I’m ready to start my own group. Would anyone like to meet up with our kids and spend some time at the park?
Just wanted to say hello!

Hey guys my dad has a house up for rent. please see ad on Facebook link below.
specifically an OBGYN that is cool enough to agree to a sterilization for an unmarried 30 year old with no kids. but an obgyn in general is what I'm looking for mostly. the sterilization part is just a bonus.
TIA!
I saw some pictures of Lake Dias and drove by in the past. I wanna stop but comments mention the trail being blocked or unmarked but that was two years ago. Does anyone know how good the trails are there, if they even exist.
Anyone know any local artists that work with wood & take commissions? I've got the perfect idea for a Christmas gift & I wanna get it from someone local if possible.
Thanks in advance!
Somewhat new to DeLand. Was wondering if there were any places for star gazing within an hour drive around here?

Hello! I have a friend who's regular sitter is unavailable and if she can't find a replacement, she's going to have to cancel her trip. Anyone have suggestions? TIA
The food was ok. I never got sick eating their food.
Looking for a good (and cheap) driving school in DeLand so I can get my driver’s license soon. Please help me find one!
I've been here almost 2 years. Its a wonderful place. I enjoy my neighbors they are very quiet and to themselves. Hopefully I can find someone to share times with.
Has anyone in here ever go looking for shark teeth? I keep seeing videos online and wanted to see if anyone knows spots within an hr or so from deland.
I am traveling back into DeLand in the morning via i95 to i4 then to the southwest side. Are the off ramps closed? And what do you guys think would be the best way to get to old spring garden. I know to avoid Orange Camp and the other heavily flooded areas.
We’re moving to the area and are looking at property. We don’t want to come down if you’re still mostly recovering from Milton. Is everything back to near 100% or wait a week?
My family and I lost power and we are sick of eating non-perishable foods already. What’s open?
Had some unexpected damage to my car window from Milton. Anyone reccomend a good place nearby to get a window replaced? And some damage to top
