I just got the newest Crucible mod for Dawn of War: Soulstorm, and I have all the required mods except for Chaos Daemons 2.0. When I try to install it, it says that it's version 2.2, and I can't play the mod. Has anyone else experienced the same problem? Thanks!
5 minutes to find a match and when you find it they instantly rush you, what do you have to do stare at wall paint faster?
Oh, what's that? Did you spend 1 point on something else instead of meta? Well, you might as well search for a new game because you are done and will just die slowly and boring.
people getting somehow points out his ass. I got 2 full squad by minute 3 how the fuck you also got a commander and 4 soldiers rushing to my base.
Also, it would be nice if my troops actually damage the enemy, how the fuck do space marines not kill a small squad of imperial soldiers that don't have any weapons, and i am not talking about the respawning too quickly thats their whole point, i mean they literally don't kill a single man.
Its more fun just playing with friends you all playing ranked when the game doesn't even have one.
Again i dont care you say "Get good" or some shit like that i will just play with actual friends that some randoms that want to play 80 games in a hour for some reason and gain points that dont even exist in the game.
Hey Everyone,
i love DOW and played it since it came out. Recently I enjoy more slower paced, cinematic gameplay and I try to recreate that during my plays. That mean using land/air transport vehicles. Moving troops behind enemy lines, rescuing them. Little roleplay like Black Hawk Down. The problem I have that vs AI it usually comes to turtle up, gather as many troops and clash. The one who got more wins as loosing even one battle means losing game as you cannot defend with all your troops gone. I would love having more little skirmishes leading to a huge stand off rather than every skirmish leading to anahilation. Slow resources and fortification setting from Unification helps a bit but it still lacks qualities. Do you have know any settings / other mods that could help me out in a less AI aggressive gameplay?
I've recently been getting the itch to play a real time strategy game, and I've been in the Warhammer 40K hobby for about 5 years now. With the success of space marine 2 i was looking into more 40k games and dawn of war have been highly regarded as one of the best. I've been looking into the games and it seems to be the consensus that the first one is the best. My question is are the other 2 games worth playing? the only RTS games ive played before were age of empires 2 and age of mythology so i don't have a lot of experience with these types of games. Should I play just the first one and skip the rest? since I've never played them before should I jump to the third one for updated graphics? I am just curious about how well these have aged and if they are still worth picking up all these years later. Any help and advice is much appreciated.
so I'm playing a multiplayer + custom solo game with this mod and it's not working. According to the workshop description, all recruitment cost is supposedly 0 cost.
Any ideas on how to get it to work? I'm running the game in Win11 via steam. Thanks
EDIT: the mod was created by "NikZ"
Hi everyone, just started to play DoW and fell in love with the necrons, i have beaten both campaings with them in no time cause they are absolutely broken in the campaing for one reason: IA dont hit and run or micro, at least not very good. And thats the reason im asking for help.
When i play against people, they just hit and run with units with longer range. ¿Whats the pro necron solution to that? Specially against orks, i cant do anything.
Sorry for the bad english, not native.
Playing Soulstorm skirmish mode as the SoB on standard difficulty.
I can usually manage to beat the standard ai in a 1v1. But it never feels like a satisfying victory in the slightest. It just feels like me and the ai trading blows until I very slowly manage to build up enough units to rush the enemy base and blow it up.
Just wondering how I can actually implement more strategic thinking into how I’m playing this game. This is my first RTS and I have no idea how I’m supposed to get a control point victory because every time I try, I get absolutely destroyed
"I'm playing a campaign as the Tau in Dawn of War: Soulstorm, but the base red doesn't look that good. Are there any mods that allow me to change their color in the campaign? Thanks!"
If I was Sanguinius I'd have pretty much all my Whirlwind pilots executed under suspicion of treason and heresy. They miss pretty much all the time.
After playing SM2 I wanted to go back and recheck the DoW 2 since I realy didn't like 3 that much, what is most popular mod in player numbers since I wanted to try some multi instead of AI only like in DoW 1 (Had bad pc, could never find servers there)
It's a debate well over a decade now. I recently destroyed Dark Crusade in an almost nonstop binge thanks to an unexpected amount of free time I had. It was awesome honestly. No regrets at all.
I'm back to a normal life, doing normal things. I figure I might follow up with DoW2, despite the negative things I've heard it seems to have its own following.
I recently beat the DoW2 campaign and found it exceptionally BORING. I don't know why I did that to myself. I could barely finish just one mission at a time before feeling the need to log off and do anything else - stare at a blank screen even. And even then that was a stretch - I only did so because you can't save mid mission so you either complete or fail.
I kept thinking "maybe the game will open up and be fun then". Once the missions finally became "free" to choose at the very end, I still didn't want to actually play them. I then thought "maybe once I grind for a full squad of terminator armor, it'll be fun then". It wasn't. I thought, okay maybe it's the dreadnaught that I really want: it wasn't. Okay, maybe I just need to find the right autocannon, that'll make the game more fun. It didn't.
The narrow, tight maps that repeated over and over again were I think the biggest issue for me. Lack of base building wasn't a deal breaker but not having any interactivity with the game besides spamming ability cooldowns was just not fun at all for me.
The one moment I finally said "Hell yeah brother" was at the very end when >!Gabriel and the entire blood angels detachment pod down for a truly epic finale!<. And why? Because I finally felt like I was in a battle and not a minor skirmish.
I started Chaos Rising this week and just cannot pull myself through another dozen missions before I can finally choose what missions I go on. I just do not get it.
On the other hand, man, major props to the interactions between the characters, their fine voice acting, characterization and embodiment of different ethos of the warhammer 40k world. The sound of the bolters was fantastic as well - truly an upgrade from dow1 peeshooter. But even then there was a lack of iconic voice acting like in dow1 - even the most useless battle line units had unforgettable dialogue that stuck with you for years. This game had a few memorable scenes >!davian thule being senile, confused, scared!< was pretty impactful but not much outside of it.
Anyways, rant over. I know some of you will disagree; it's a beloved game with its own fanbase. And nothing I said is new, but I needed to get it off my chest as someone who basically thinks Dark Crusade is crack distilled into videogame form even 20 years later.
What are some of your favorite line deliveries from the dawn of war franchise?
You can do metal bawkses if you want, but like...
I really wish retribution were longer I'm on track to memorize every line from that game haha.
"It must be... magnificent"
Guess I can't convince my buddies to try it out with me now that they're obsessed with 40k lately.
Edit: From my understanding from looking at it more deeply, the anniversary is the Dawn of War 2 and all of it's DLC combined, an update they made on September 19th. I'm not sure what the prices on all of them individually were but i do remember buying them all on sale for under 10 bucks.
Edit Edit: Ahh here we are. Under 13 bucks I got it all.
Hello to all of this lovely grim dark community. Recently I was bit by the bug to return to this classic, I still remember going out and buying the original discs back in 05 and 06, then the anothology release later on. My question is which mods do you recommend to enhance the campaign experience? I'm most versed with UA but this has been for multiplayer and too be honest it's been over half a decade since I last played. Is unification still a good experience? And what about the numerous other options, I seem to remember antics with the Steel Legion and Tyranids. Basically give me your takes that you think would beat serve an old returning player. Thank you in advance.
Edit: I'm very much a DOW1 player and mostly looking at Dark Crusade and Soulstorm. Though I have a soft spot for Winter Assault.
These useless suckers often block the ways and refuse moving their army
With some races I just shoot their buildings and troops with artillery but not every race has that option, so I was wondering if there's any mod that would allow deleting allied bots' buildings and troops like I can delete my own with the DEL key.
I'm mostly playing
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Dark Crusade
and the base game
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War
I am playing DoW2 for the first time, and I am struggling really hard with the mission Angel Gate (?) on the hivecity map. When I go to close the gate endless swarms of strong enemies spawn along with 2 health regenerating titans that I just cannot beat. Trying to rush the gate and close it quickly does not work either because they spawn lictors or whatever they are called right on me.
I cannot even save scum because even when I close the game via task manager the game will count this as a „day lost“.
What the F am I doing wrong here? I have a strong varied built but without extra abilities, which are very limited (Cyrus heavy infantry one shot ability etc) I’m just dead instantly and my guys are not even damaging the enemy.
It’s really frustrating and I’m usually good at games (and I have also beaten all dow1 campaigns on highest difficulty)
so I just installed the game but every time I clicked on "play", it goes back to steam launcher after 5-10 seconds.
no new window/pop-up appears after clicking "play".
Thanks a lot of the assistance
EDIT: I forgot to mentioned I'm trying to play DOW3
I’m currently doing a skirmish, and I’m trying to beat Chao with DE, unfortunately, they’re base is loaded with turrets and even if I unload on them and wipe the army they grind me down before I can destroy the fortress. Any strategies?
I've been doing alot of skirmish matches recently with the Unification mod but a problem I've come across is that when playing against the Renegade Guard, the ai constantly picks the Tekarn. I dont mean to be rude, but I feel second-hand embarrassment playing against that faction
Whether its the terrible VA work, out-of place anime references and models, or just the unbalanced nature of the entire thing, but I honestly never have any fun when I see the ai using Tekarn. Its a shame because I actually like playing against the Vraksian militia branch, but I so rarely see them that I have to wonder why the devs had to make this a default choice instead of some togglable easter egg
Apparently it has something to do with the fact that I modded the game (Titanium wars in dark crusade btw) I'd like to know if there's anything I can do to prevent this and just have the dev stuff without that.
I decided to revisit Warhammer 40k after a 15-20 year hiatus. I found my old discs, but they were scratched. I learned that I could activate them on Steam using CD keys. I tried entering keys for all the games, but Steam only accepted the one for Soulstorm. I installed Soulstorm but found the camera too close, so I looked for a fix. While i were applying the fix, I noticed I now had:
Warhammer 40k Dawn of War Anniversary Edition
Warhammer 40k Winter Assault
Warhammer 40k Dark Crusade
Warhammer 40k Soulstorm
I'm confused about how the first three appeared, as Steam rejected their keys. I read about the Anniversary Edition, which is supposed to include all the games, but it's only half the size of Soulstorm. I installed it and it seems like regular DoW, and it doesn't recognize the installed Soulstorm. I launched Soulstorm and connected online, and all races are available.
So, I have 3 questions:
How did the first three games appear in my library?
What exactly is the Anniversary Edition?
Why do I have all races unlocked when I remember needing to verify ownership of other games online? Is this related to having both Anniversary Edition and Soulstorm installed?
About the Terminators, I want to know all about them. First one being, what does the golden skull do for the assault cannon?
What do each version of DoW2 offer and which is one you would recommend?
Yo I just started playing and I got unification mod and I am getting 30 seconds into the match and I have 2 Big Mek orks spawning in my base killing my servitors my space marines and everything in sight, how the hell am I supposed to kill these tanky ass units when I can barely create my first space marines into the game, it's insane they are crazy tanking they do a ton of damage and they can take out turrets on their own.
I don't know I've tried everything else and is there other mods i do not know of? the mods I've already gotten and it works is titanium, witch hunters, and daemon hunter's mods.
