A place to discuss all things Davidson College.
Cats are wild!
Davidson may not be big, but I'm sure we have some redditors out there. Come here to dish out on professors, ask some questions, post some news, or tell ridiculous weekend stories. Everyone from students, alumni, applicants, and fans are welcome!

Hello guys, I would really like to apply to Davidson for my ED. So I'd love to hear your experiences at Davidson.
I am an International Applicant.
I finished my A levels in Jan 2024 with 3A's in Phy, Chem and Bio and an A* in Maths (590/600).
I have an SAT score of 1430 but I plan on retaking it and this time, study and get a 1500+ score.
I have an IELTS score of 8.
My ECA's are fairly weak though:
I have been teaching as a part-time teacher at a well reputed school of our country, and am on the fence on whether to say yes to another school offering me another part time position (feel free to advise me if i should agree or not).
I'm a self taught Classical guitarist.
I'm a speedcuber with a 3x3 pb=22 secs and averaging around 35-40 secs
My Intended Major: Physics
Intended Session: Fall '25
I'm completely oblivious to the profiles of students who've received a full scholarship, so I'm really looking forward to hearing your advice.
Hi everyone,
I'm an incoming freshman and I wanted to reach out to see if anyone has any recommendations for must-have courses and professors. I want to make the most out of my first year, so any advice on which classes are particularly great or which professors are exceptional would be greatly appreciated.
Hi! I am a potential Davidson student. I am not athletic or particularly artsy, but I love to watch games and shows! I just want to make sure there are other students like me, as I know sports and the arts are a big deal at Davidson. Will I struggle with clubs and making friends? I do plan on joining the newspaper, but have no plans on joining any sports team. Thank you!
Do the sports teams like men’s soccer get a lot of support by students and local community ie what is the attendance like? Or are they playing in an empty stadium?
I'm not sure when the decision is supposed to come out. Has anyone heard back?
hello all - i am a prospective student and i was wondering if a psych major could give honest feedback on the psych dept here. i am planning on doing psych undergrad and eventually getting a phd to become a clinical psychologist.
How did you feel about professors, courses , etc. also, if you’re planning to go into grad school since i am looking into that for the future, do you feel this school prepped you well for grad school in terms of academics and outside opportunities. how prominent are research / ta positions, as well as internships? is there grade inflation or deflation here? thank you and any feedback will be valued
Does Davidson have a party scene and what does it look like?
hey guys, i’m a rising senior in high school and am starting to build up my college list and im taking interest in this school. how is the muslim population and arab population like? are there prominent student associations for these groups ?
I’ve heard rumblings of grade deflation at Davidson which can affect grad school and med school opportunities. Is this a real thing?
I have tried to look up information on the amounts of transfers Davidson College takes in each admissions cycle, however I cannot find any information.
As a transfer student from an in-state CC, I would be incoming as a junior in either the economics program or the quantitative econometrics and quantitative economics program. I worry as a community college applicant that would essentially be incoming as a junior if admitted if I would already have missed most undergrad opportunities.
Title.
Hi, I finally got to log into my Davidson account. I heard that there are some perks that come with it. What are some of the stuff available to students with a Davidson email?
How easy is it to get involved with research, specifically pre-med oriented? Also what is the vibe like on campus?
Can anyone provide some information on Davidson's Physics program/department?
Hi!
I'm an incoming freshman at Davidson (so very excited), definitely planning to major in something related to the humanities, and I'm quite interested in the Humanities program (for anyone who's not familiar, it's two semesters for three credits, joint lecturing, etc.). I'd love if anyone who has previously taken the class could share their experience?
More specifically:
How heavy is the workload for the class, really?
Do you feel like you missed opportunities to take other classes because it's a two semester commitment?
What did you like (and dislike!) about the program as a whole?
Thanks so much for your help!
My son is ending his junior year in high school and of all the colleges we have visited, Davidson has been his favorite. I’ve read that students need to have a 3.8 GPA and 12 AP classes to get in. My son wouldn’t have had the ability to take 12 AP classes at his elite private high school. And his GPA will not reach 3.8. Most likely at the end of this year he will have a 3.5.
His first SAT was a 1250. And we just received his ACT today and his composite is 30. His science portion is in the 99% and that’s where his interests lie.
He is very smart, but his school is rigorous and he has severe adhd. His adhd has affected his grades. I’m trying to manage his expectations. Does he have a chance at all if his GPA is not a 3.8 or higher? Should he mention his ADHD on his application? Does Davidson have a student services (accommodations) office and if so, how good is it?
What colleges have a similar feel but maybe would not be such a reach? He likes that it’s a small school with small classes and that he’d have the opportunity to participate in research early on because he wants to go into medical research. He also likes that he could participate in theater there without being a theater major. We live in North Carolina and while he doesn’t need to stay here, he does not like snow - as in the cold physically hurts for him.
Hello! As the title says, I was just recently accepted to Davidson. Could you all let me know about what Davidson is like? What is the overall culture, are there abundant research opportunities, are there a lot of active clubs, are people super cutthroat and competitive, is it easy to switch majors, is it easy to get classes you want, and general pros and cons? Thank you!!
Does anyone have tickets for “It’s Only Life After All”, the Indigo Girls documentary, for April 25th that they are not going to use? The event is sold out and I would really love to go- thanks so much :)
Hello, I got in but I’m wondering if the school is maybe “too southern” for me. I mostly grew up in France but I’m an American citizen from the Northeast and would like to eventually work up North (NYC probably) Any information helps thanks :)
I'll either be econ or CS major so either investment banking/consulting or tech. How is the reputation of Davidson there?
I am an international applicant, seeking a full-ride (ah, yes, the entitled brat as everyone likes to call us). I know I don't deserve or can't really expect to get a full-ride to any American university, but when my country isn't allowing me to study my desired subject, I can't really help but wonder.
I graduated from high school back in 2022. So, this time, I applied with 2-gap-years, and if I apply in fall 25, it would be 3-gap years. Would it be worth it?
If anyone's wondering about my STATS, it is perfect 4.0 UW GPA (no AP/IB as my school doesn't have those), 1480 SAT, and I have 2 international, 3 national honors (and a bunch of regional/school honors that I added in Additional info); my ECs were mostly in Journalism and Film; as I write (paid) at my country's national daily, have established one small online news portal, have a paid job at an online news portal, have another voluntary (which will turn paid in near future) work in another educational media platform, did some summer programs in Journalism; then, I have some photography projects, a short documentary, some film scripts and some short stories and a published book; then, I have some other voluntary works (charity, teaching, helping US aspirants with information, mentoring (essay reviewing, college suggesting, and stuff) other US aspirants - who made it with full-tuition in Fall 24).
If I apply for Fall 25, I really think I will have more honors and more impact on the ECs I've been working with; do you think I should consider Fall 25? (won't retake the SAT for 1500+ though, can't spend another $100, I know it's not a lot to you, but to me, it is).
I didn't apply for Fall 22 though, because I actually grew interested in film/journalism in my senior year of high school (I was into STEM before my senior year), and I wanted to see this through. I wrote this for my gap year explanation as well. The Fall 23 essay was crap, the Fall 24 Early essay received mixed responses, and the regular essay received unanimous appreciation, so I was thinking I would use that essay again. Do you think there's any chance of getting a full-ride with my third gap year at any US college?

I am currently looking for a short-term lease for the summer around Davidson/Morrisville (or even closer to charlotte) for a summer internship and figured subleasing from a student might be a great way to do this. Is this at all common here, and is there anywhere I could get in contact with students looking to sublease? If not, does anyone have any advice for this?
