Decompose PTR

Did anyone try the new decompose aspect and tempering in PTR?

If so, I was wondering if increasing the size of decompose so that it hit multiple enemies, also proc’d corpse generation under each one hit by the channel. And if so, would that mean if it hit 5 enemies that it could chain to 10 additional enemies with the aspect creating 15 corpses the first second to explode?

Just thinking of any crazy basic skill builds. If it can generate corpses in this chain reaction way I might try some crazy masterworked 2H with decompose size masterworked 3 times.

If you haven’t tried it, would you expect it to work this way?

200% increased decompose size

Channel a huge beam covering the whole group

Each mob hit chains twice and also generate a corpse to explode

Or downvote me for dumb questions. I’ve never really used decompose and couldn’t find an answer to these questions online anywhere.

Minions/Golem

Why do these “skills” take up a slot on my skill bar. Every other class has their class power as a passive. Why is the necro getting shafted on this. Especially with all the changes coming and we basically don’t have to invest in them anymore for them to be viable. Why are they taking up a skill slot? Wouldn’t it be nice if they passively just spawned? Maybe not the golem but the skeletons? Just a thought… what are your thoughts?

Is mages attacking at "distant" enemies or are they normally inside "close" range?

I figures i could swap my CE damage tempers with Distant or Close dmg tempers and thus also benefit my mages.

My build has basically only these 2 real damage sources, since the golem and melee skeletons are more for utility.

But im not an experienced necro player, and im not sure how big the close/distant range is and which one will generally benefit my mages.

i would like to stack distant damage (and crit damage). But dont know of the mages are far enough back most of the time.

Desecration Glyph

With all the changes coming, can we get the desecrated ground effects from “Greaves of the Empty Tomb” to start underneath the necro so we can benefit from the desecration glyph bonus.

How to apply vulnerable to bosses with Blood Surge?

Just rolled a necro in seasonal and as far as I can see it's Corpse Tendrils that apply vulnerable which doesn't really have a place on bosses (at leats not reliably).

Am I missing something? Have a feeling I'm missing something! My dps on Uber bosses is pretty poor compared to some videos. Even a level 80 NMD is a bit slow for me.

Edit: Found it - there's a talent called 'hewed flesh' which gives a 2x chance to generate corpses based on damage alone when fighting bosses!

Tips on leveling

I'm still new to the game, only two weeks in. So far iv beaten the campaign and up to teir 3. And I'm at level 62. But my main question is for some tips on leveling up a bit quicker. I don't mind the grinding at all and such but I'm not really struggling too much anyone and wanting to get to teir 4 a bit quicker.

Has anyone on the ptr tested if they changed the distance required for hellbent commander to proc? I am curious with how spread out the minions are now that the buff is possibly wasted. On xbox so can't test myself

Lvl 81 homebrew necro vs Lvl 140 chuds (T86nmv)

This build is now lvl95 but I was smashing high tier dungeons from the jump. I have leveled every class to 100, druid being the last class to 100, but I have been a necro main since the release of the game. I play on console so I didn’t have access to the PTR but I can’t wait to finally play as a summoner past WT3!

Minion Necro being a Pit Lord. feat. Mendeln

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zD0EjoTVo2s

I had some success with my minion Necro in the Pit so I figured I would showcase what I've been running. The run took roughly 3 minutes and I started the run without skeletons, no consumables but I did use pylons. (Please remove pylons from the game?)

https://d4builds.gg/builds/5b15e290-6c3c-4b0c-8f7f-b417757139f4/

That's the build I was running, I put some comments on it in the video description. I don't think I have anything super crazy equipped, no broken items, no bug abuse, no uber uniques.

I think minions are much improved but there's a lot of work to be done still. The Paragon is still based on the old game version for example. Why is there minion resistance/armor when they just scale directly off of yours? Why would you use glyphs and skill nodes to buff a specific minion type when you can just buff yourself instead and make your minions stronger as a result from that?

Kalan's Edict is much better, but you can get attack speed so incredibly easily now and your minions scale off of that, so what's the point? With Blighted Aspect as an option, why pick anything else? Army of the Dead is cool and all but offers so little, it just pales in comparison with Bone Storm, it has no synergy or fluidity, no cross play with other talents or aspects, no defenses attached to it, etc. Bone mages with enough attack speed just kill themselves before the priest can heal them up..

I do like that there are some options when it comes to minions, but I think they could be brought closer together a bit more. Skirmishers do pretty good damage, defenders are really tanky, reapers give CDR or corpses. Shadow mages bring AoE now, cold ones give resource or vuln and bone mages theoretically could cast Bone Spear or give you Fortify. Bone golem for corpse gen or vuln/thorns, blood for DR or damage/healing, the iron golem for stun, more cleave damage or a pull.

Before I turn this into a rant, Necro and the game by itself are getting much better but I think the biggest problem is that there is just too big a difference between the options we have available. Why use A, B or C when there is D that does it all? (Besides from bis items/rolls being unfathomably difficult to get, but that's a tuning thing, they just have to find the sweet spot with effort vs reward).

X'Fal, Sever and Blighted CE

Hi all, I just got a X'fal ring and wanted to see if I could incorporate to my Sever/Blighted CE build.

So I was testing it with Server and it seems it doesn't proc on normal swipes, only on the Pool created by the Greaves of Empty Tomb. That's kinda what I expected, so no issues there.

But I was testing with Blighted CE and I can't see it proccing at all. I'm not sure if it just doesn't or I'm unable to identify the numbers from the proc.

So my question is: does it actually work with Blighted CE at all? Also, how lucky chance work with ground DoTs, do they keep it the same change for every DoT? Or it's a smaller chance?

Thank you :)

Supreme Army of the Dead is a summoning skill!

I think, if you do not sacrifice your minions on your Book of the Dead, is fair to raise all your skeletons with Supreme Army of the Dead, at least for the ult duration, even whiteout having Raising Skeleton skill on your bar.

Blood Boiling and paranormal blood surge combo

I am new to d4 and I have level 45 char. I was checking build guides and I switched to bone spear but it felt extremely weak around level 30-40. Than I switch to leveling build and it feels extremely OP because of item I have dropped that has perfect Blood Boiling legendary aspect. I searched google but I could not find any info and found only one build without any likes using Blood Boiling and paranormal blood surge combo. Am I missing something or this is OP only before level 50 so nobody thinking about it. i could not level find such combo in leveling builds, guides.

Paranormal Blood Surge grants:

  • If an enemy is damaged by Blood Surge's nova while you are Healthy, then gain 1 stack of Overwhelming Blood. When you have 5 stacks of Overwhelming Blood, your next Blood Surge Overpowers.

Blood Boil gear provides:

♦ When your Core Skills Overpower an enemy, you spawn 3 Volatile Blood Drops. Collecting a Volatile Blood Drop causes it to explode, dealing 60 - 90 [60%] Physical damage around you.♦ Every 20 seconds, your next Skill is guaranteed to Overpower.

I am not sure but most probably every enemy is counted for Paranormal Blood Surge and when you have at least 5 enemies in range you will need to just use blood boil than just walk into enemies and kill them extremely easily. The floor will be overloaded with Blood Drops and they explode like crazy when I dash to kill all enemies in a few seconds. Some bosses are even very easy if there are enough small mobs around it. Sometimes I dont even use any other skill than blood boil and dashing.

edit: i find out that Rathma's Vigor increase your Maximum Life by 10% [x]. After being Healthy for 12 seconds, your next Blood skill Overpowers. So this is helping the combo a lot.

We need buff to minion sacrifices

If the minions are being buffed to 100% same as the character stats, sacrifices should be buffed a little too. What do you think?

Glaring issues in the late game

Game feels good but still not worth playing without season theme if surviving doesn’t get better. But the issues that are currently present will be more apparent when the season launch’s if not accounted for within the season.

Surviving needs to be more specific(catered to) for each character because each character doesn’t play the same. It feels too burdensome to get full defenses and still get one shot; this is not fun at anytime for anyone. Give each character a boost for one or two defensive mechanics so they can scale them easily. For example, armor/fortify for necromancers, dodge for rouges and barrier for sorcerer. We need to be able to super scale these and feel the significance of that mechanic on that character. You can currently do this but it needs to be worth it like barrier generation should be able to cover maximum life and regenerate just as fast as you take damage in combat in regard to skills and stats that are barrier based.

After death effects need to be removed or significantly nerfed. This makes me not want to play the game at all when I get one shot by one or get hit and poisoned for my maximum health and die with max poison resist while over 1400 armor.

Minions are good only major and very important issue now for them is Ai. Doorways and corners make them dumb. My golem literally disappeared multiple times on the pit boss entrance. The golem 65% time is standing still in mid combat, or runs past enemies to hit enemies further behind the closer enemy (they obviously have line of sight/ vision issues). Minions think too much about who they are going to attack; they always slow down right before they attack a mob of enemies and they do this multiple times for a longer period if they are super spread out.

TLDR: Changes good/impressive. Current issues are major fun killers. (One shots, survivability mechanics need improvement, minion Ai, defense on gear)

D4 Fishymancer Hype!

Been watching a lot of the PTR (PlayStation user as I love my Portal) and....

I am so excited as it appears what is essentially "Fishymancer" from D2 will be a good build for s4. Between all APRGs I have played the basic Fishymancer has been my favorite build of all time.

While D4's version will be a tad worse when I'm playing "100%" because you can't micromanage 4 different curses I'm still hyped that we'll get a viable version of this build in D4 =)

Hype!!! =)

PTR minions

Saw a post a while back about what all Bone spear mages could do. They work with deathless visage, applying vuln through aspect and talent, and they will proc bone skills passive as well. Having so much fun with this PTR.
