Include everybody. Anyone with any amount of texture in their hair is welcome here. Passing judgment on whether someone else’s hair is “curly enough” is neither useful nor productive for our common goal of bringing out the best in our hair. I’ve gotten really bored with my hair and i want to try something new i know layers look great on straight hair but i don’t know if it would look good on curly hair too
Hi! So for the past few months, I just stopped putting any kind of product in my hair, just letting it do its own thing. I wasn’t very worried about it since my last hair cut, the person cut it way too short for my liking. Now that it’s at a decent length, I want to reintroduce products. I impulse bought Miss Jessie’s Multicultural curls cream, however I’m unsure if at the end of the day that’s really what I need for my hair.
For reference, I have fine 2B/C hair. And even then I’m not entirely sure if I’m right about it, as my curl pattern super all over the place. And my hair curls whenever it wants.
I’d appreciate any help or advice!
Also is there a certain method to use with the comb? How do I gain energy to style my hair in sections lol
does it work? i just bought it and am now having doubts, if anyone jas tried it (especially if you have 3b/c hair) please let me know
I need advice on getting my curls to last longer and be more defined! To get my curls to start at the root I've been plopping with a cotton t-shirt for an hour and I think that may be somehow causing less definition, but I've only ever read that it's supposed to help! I love that my curls/waves look soft, but theres very little definition. For reference, this is day 2 hair. I usually have more ringlets, but now that I've started plopping it seems like it's stopped. What products do you all recommend? I've been blow drying and straightening my hair for years, so I'm new to the curly game.
Routine: Wash and Condition with OGX Coconut Oil Shampoo and Conditioner, brush through the knots, use Shea Moisture Curl Smoothie, Shea Moisture Frizz Free Mousse, and Aunt Jackie's Curl Custard. After that, I plop my hair for about an hour and sometimes diffuse, sometimes air dry. Once it's dry, I scrunch with OGX argan and morocco oil.
Thank you all for your help! :)
My husband and I have been “arguing” (playfully debating) constantly about how to properly manage his sort of curly and VERY thick and beautiful hair. It’s one of my favourite things about him, and it used to be able to manage itself (despite using a 3 in 1), however recently it’s been losing control by turning frizzy and tangling too easily. Ive sort of got him to agree to at least try using products better suited for his hair, but neither of us even know where to start finding those, and every product we look at on line seems like someone had to be paid off to promote it. Does anyone have any starter product selection? (For reference he didn’t want me posting his head online, however it looks like about a 3A when dried after only being rinsed)
I have 2c/3a hair and it makes it a difficult task for me to detangle my hair with out feeling like I need to rip my hair out. Is it possible to use a vent brush/one of those brushes that has a flexible head on them while my hair has conditioner in it to detangle it, or how should I be really brushing curly hair?
I dyed my hair dark red in April of 2023. And re-dyed it September and again in November. It's now April 2024 and I dyed it a dark ash brown but it still looks red in certain lighting. I wish it wasn't red but I refuse to further damage it so l'll accept this for now. My curls are pretty limp and a lot less defined after spending a year dying it.
My question is how to incorporate different bonding/ protein treatments? I have the Curlsmith Bond Curl Rehab Salve Hair Treatment and know to use it every 3-4 washes. I wanted to get the aphrogee Two Step Protein Treatment & Balanced Moisturizer treatments but how soon after dying my hair should I use it? Also can I have both products in my routine or should I exchange the curlsmith for something that I can use more frequently? I ultimately want something I can do weekly, every month and every few months to bring my curls back.
I feel like I am finally getting the hang of this curly hair business and I had a great hair day yesterday. 😍 Routine: wash 2x a week with not your mothers shampoo and conditioner, cowash on in between days when needed or just rewet and squish some conditioner in, then I scrunch in some gel (LA looks extreme sport), brush with tangle tweezer, then pulse scrunch. Plop with cotton T-shirt, then “hammock diffuse”. Once it’s 100% dry I scrunch out the crunch. This day I also clipped my roots for a little bit and pixie diffused a little bit after hammock diffusing. :)
English is not my first language, i’m sorry for any mistakes
He washed his hair yesterday night and went to sleep with wet hair (he does this almost every time he washes it), the photo is from this morning
his routine is: • wetting the hair • applying curly hair shampoo (sunsilk) • rinsing the hair • applying curly hair conditioner (sunsilk) • brushing the hair • sometimes he crunches it and then he goes to sleep
What can he do to improve his routine?
routine is curl cream and diffuser on wash day and otherwise i just spray water in the morning
I found out a few days ago I have a moisture overload and am not sure how to go about balancing it out. I would appreciate if anyone recommends a routine along side with products please thank you :).
Yea thas pretty much it, i got hair oil for my scalp and now all I need to know is how to use the conditioner like do I jus put it in my coils? Or like do I put it then comb twirl it?
Please lmk 🙏
I have 4c hair and i don't got a spray leave in
Hi so my hair journey has been a bit strange. So basically when I was younger I had very blonde/white hair which was very fine, no hint of a curl at all. Then when I was about 13 it started to change texture and eventually I worked out it had a curl pattern. It wasn’t super strong but it was there.
Then when I was around 17 the curls were quite nice and I decided to dye my hair a dark red colour 😵💫. Eventually it faded into a lighter ginger colour but the curls were so good, like pretty curly and looked healthy. I was washing with cold water and using a curly conditioner scrunch method then dry with a T-shirt.
My issue is this, the curls are rubbish now. Like truly my hair is almost flat now, I’ve tried going back to my old routine but the curls are nowhere near as defined as they were. I think maybe it has something to do with different water at uni? I’m thinking of getting highlights in my hair to see if this will make my hair curl more. Do we think maybe the curls are just gone? Any advice would be great.
For context I’m a 19 year old blonde guy and only my grandma has curly hair.
have Thick curly 3B/C hair that takes me a lot of time and energy to manage. It does look beautiful but only for a maximum of 2 days after a 4 hour routine, which is getting me tiered.
So i thought of going back to Keratin treatments, which i had stopped almost 7 years ago, so i know what damage it does.
Do you have any suggestions, on how i could Relax my curls to something around 2C to make it a bit more manageable and lose the shrink?
For refrence iam a 16F 3C/4A curly hair. I got my hair dyed approx. a year ago and i silk press my hair 2-3 times a year. I tried the water porosity test where u place a strand of your hair in a cup of room temperature water for 5 minutes and basically my hair stayed up and didn't sink. My hair doesn't wet fast when I shower and doesn't dry fast too it takes a day and 1/2 to dry but my hair is damaged too so I'm confused which porosity I am.
hii! so i have very naturally moisturized and softer hair. my usual shower routine is shampoo 2x and then put conditioner in. then i use a light gel and scrunch my hair. however, my waves/curls are really limp whenever my hair is too moisturized and the curls barely hold/fall flat. does anyone have any advice in how i can make my hair grittier so it can hold? or any changes i should make to my routine? all help is welcome, thanks ☀️
I’ve always treated my hair as slightly rebellious but essentially straight. After a new choppy cut, I’m realising that I definitely have wavy and perhaps even curly hair (2a/2b at the moment) and I’m starting to look after it differently. It’s thin and fine, low porosity and in pretty good condition.
My current (first) routine is wash/condition with Function of Beauty for wavy hair, scrunch with Aussie curl cream and Umberto Gianni scrunching jelly, air dry.
I’m curious to know how long it took for people to start seeing results. How long should you keep up a routine before experimenting with other products? Tell me your hair stories.
My hair is wavy I cant really do the recommended routine due to my bad dandruff. Has anyone found a routine that helps with dandruff but maintains the curls looking healthy?
I have 2b/2c hair type, with some 3a curl strands throughout.
I have low porosity, very fine hair (but lots of it). According to everything I have read I need lightweight products with no sulphates, no (or low) protein and that aren't heavy. I am STRUGGLING to find options that match all of these criteria. I am looking for a shampoo, conditioner and a leave in conditioner, potentially a conditioning spray as well.
Thank you in advance.
Should I do an egg hair mask before or after a hair cut?
