Include everybody. Anyone with any amount of texture in their hair is welcome here. Passing judgment on whether someone else’s hair is “curly enough” is neither useful nor productive for our common goal of bringing out the best in our hair. I feel like a lot of people might just have used it not realising that it wouldn’t work for their hair type.
My hair used to be 3a but kinda started growing in more wavy after I got on the pill. It’s fine, high porosity, high density (pic above).
My hair was only slightly wavy when I was younger but after I hit puberty it started becoming curly and that was when I used cantu. Now, this was a good few years ago so maybe their formula has changed, but I remember using a curl foam from cantu that was a perfect one-and-done product for my hair.
My hair was quite prone to frizz at the time, but that foam made a perfect lightweight cast (that I didn’t know how to get rid of yet). Because I didn’t know that the cast was a good thing, I didn’t repurchase the foam and I had seen a lot of reviews online stating that cantu was a terrible brand that dried your hair out.
I may actually repurchase the foam when I’m finished with the products I currently have because I genuinely feel like it did an amazing job. My hair also prefers protein over moisture and I wonder if the people behind the bad reviews may have had low porosity hair that requires more moisture.
As for their leave-ins allegedly causing build-up, I’m not really a fan of leave-ins anyways. I prefer a strong hold mousse, a medium hold gel, and some oil to soften the hair. Regardless of that, my hair is naturally pretty soft anyways.
Just looking for opinions. Also, maybe someone may have analysed their labels and pinpointed any problem ingredients?
I got an idea a while ago and i made some flaxseed gel(1 cup of seed to 4 of water ratio) to put on my hair to style it- i really liked the hold in it but i felt my hair a bit dry after 2 weeks so i stopped. Do someone had a similar experience or has any ideas to prevent drying and breakage of hair? P.S:i was using a hair mask/leave in for moisture and i didn't stored flax seed gel - i ve made each time i wanted to apply, my theory is that it was maybe too concentrated or i was putting to much on my hair.
Hey! I have to wash with sulfate shampoo everyday otherwise it can get itchy. I'm trying to get more consistent results with my routine, as well as more defined curls on top (right now it's kinda flat/frizzy, for some reason). I also get terrible bed hair even when I sleep with a bonnett, so washing daily seems inevitable.
I appreciate any advice on technique, products, and overall routine. Growing my hair out for the first time ever so I'm pretty new to this stuff.
My hair is in between of wavy and curly hair. And i recently found that i lately i have so many split ends. What should i do about it? Can salon helps on removing it? Can u guys recommend salon treatment if it will. Or, homeremedy i can do.
Hi! I am wondering if anyone know why my hair looks like this after showering. I have naturally wavy hair, it is soft but does not look soft at all? It looks almost lumpy/flat with no volume (especially at the top/scalp) mixed with frissy hairs, if it makes sense? If I brush it, i get the looks of texture and volume that I want, but the waves almost disappear.
I use shampoo every shower, then conditioner but sometimes switch to hair mask (that I also brush & rinse off) once per week. I shower hair every second day usually. (This time I also tried not using a towel at all (I never rub, just leave it in) and letting it air-dry while squeezing the water out to enhance the waves. No difference.) I have not dyed my hair.
What can I do? I have no experience in hair so sorry for bad explanation, if anyone needs more info I can provide it! I apologise for my English btw. Thank you!♡
I’ve tried growing my hair out for a few years now, and I think I’m over it. I miss just being able to spritz with water and shake out my curls and go. I miss the volume on top when my hair was short. I miss how quick it was so style.
I just started my hair journey, and I'm looking for something to protect my hair at night. I have epilepsy, and occasionally have seizures at night. I woke up this morning after having one, and despite my satin pillowcase, all the hair on the side I slept on is completely flat and everything is frizzy now. I bought a bonnet off of Amazon but it doesn't hold all night, and was next to me when I woke up. Any suggestions would be awesome! Thank you💜
Hello guys, I was wondering if we really need so many products for curly hair? I think the skincare/haircare industry just wants to sell us more stuff, i dont want it to sound like a conspiracy, but everybody knows companies just wanna make money. I mean years ago people lived without so much stuff and were fine. I cut back on skincare a lot, and honestly my skin is the same, some pimples here and there but i had those with a lot of products on my skin too. So does anybody else feel that way? I'm tired of hearing "oh this is so great for curls!! Only 30€!!" and so tired of how expensive that shit is.
Has anybody tried only using shampoo? How was your hair effected?
The “holy grail” list doesn’t have any low-poo options so I’m left scrambling. Anybody have some recommendations for fine, low density and porosity hair in the US?
So I have 3b curls/ curls with 1cm diameter. Is heavy or lightweight curl cream better?
Best oil for curly hair?? Currently using ogx coconut oil but sometimes I feel like it almost makes the frizz worst at times. (3C hair)
my hair just never seems to grow, i have curly hair and ive noticed that it just never really seems to grow any longer. i’ve had blonde highlights done to my hair which causes my hair to get tangled easily aswell but to any of u curly hair girls who knows how to fix this situation please let me know!
Hi, I need some help to get my waves to hold!! I struggle with wet frizz and then it just gets worse. My hair is bleached and I straighten it like 2 times a week. I am getting a haircut because the length is weighing it down a lot!
I’m currently using (in order) Umberto Giannini Jelly Wash Schampoo and Conditioner Björn Axén Anti break treatment Repair Umberto Giannini Curl Jelly Got2b volumania mousse But I don’t really get a gel cast so the hair gets even more frizzy while diffusing…
First part of the clip is my hair after diffusing until like 70% dry! Second part is my hair the day after washday, I sleep in a loose bun. The only way to refresh it is do wet it down and do the routine again and I don’t have the time for that… Anyone got any advice and product recommendations?
I'm a guy who's growing out my curls more. When I cover my forehead with my hair, I look so good but unfortunately after a while my hair just curls upwards (especially in uni, 4 hours of school air and whole forehead is exposed)
So what should I do to make sure my hair falls over my forehead and stays there?
I naturally have 2b-2c hair and have started to use products such as As I am Leave-in and Shea Moisture Cream. I wanted to know how I could get those luscious coils. I've tried to finger coil but idk how to really do it.
Hello!
I wanted to ask for some help… when I was younger, I had amazing curls. I still have wavy hair, but because I don’t know what I have to do to get a good result, it looks kinda frizzy. Hopefully there is a way to determine if there is potential to get my curls back (even better looking wavy hear would be great!).
I tried looking for products that have the right ingredients, but I have an allergy for parfum/fragrance. I hope one of you can help me with a good parfum free routine to try to get my curls back! I can use products with essential oils as fragrance, if there is something with that instead of chemical parfume.
Thank you so much for reaching and hopefully one of you will be able to help me!

He does use the curlsmith leave in but he’s been using my shampoo and conditioner which is the amika kure and it’s not helping with moisture. What shampoo and condish should I get him? His hair is super coarse!
hi!! i’m wondering if anyone knows of a good affordable salon in nyc (literally anywhere) that’s around 70-120 max. I have 2b/2c hair and really wanna get layers and haven’t gotten my hair cut in probably 4 years so any help would be appreciated !! 🫶🏽
I've tried so many masks on my hair, like flax seeds, aloe vera. but they seem to dry my hair. today i took a few hibiscus leaves, and added water and a made a paste of it. it's not as slimy as flax seeds gel but it's little slimy. i oiled my hair at first and then used the paste on my scalp and hair. the results were surprising. very frizz free and looked conditioned. i used a lil Shampoo(sulfate free),cause i oiled my hair too much. but overall must try
When i fingercoil, the front of my hair fingercoils very nicely, but when i start fingercoiling from where i drew the red line my fingercoils will be really flat and frizzy, i dont use heat or anything so it cant be damaged hair
Hi!
So I have curly hair, which i didn't take very good care of for most of my life, since a year o so, i started using products for curly hair, doing less "intensive" hairstyle like a bit less sleek back, letting my hair rest a bit more AND MOST OF ALL letting them out fully and doing finger coil (i think that's what it's called not sure tho).
BUT my main issue is that even thought their quite long when wet, they don't retain length (which i know is the issue with this hair type and i'm not alone). know that my hair grew quite a lot this year, they're the longest they ever been but they are the same lenght when out as before.
I also happen to have very puffy roots and don't know what to do against that.
For more clues, I have never fully straightened them, nor relaxed them. I do have a color (that was made by a professionnal).
For my routine, I use l'oreal hyaluron repulp cream (that i think helps me for the curl) and sometime Garnier fructis cream.
(PS sorry for the mistakes, english is not my first langage !)
Here some pictures :
when doing the curling method (you can see the ends are defined but the roots puffy)
when applying product and that's all (same things end defined, roots puffy)
So here you have everything, i you can give me any tips in helping my hair grow, retains length and not being so puffy i would be thankfull !!!
Noticed this the other day. Is it normal?
