Mid-Atlantic? Appalachia? Something else? All of the above? I’m an outsider trying to learn more about the geography of the United States.
I'm not a local, but I've traveled through most of the US. I'm wanting to settle down and start investing in a home; when I look at pricing, cumberland is second to none. I know there has to be so much more I'm failing to understand. Any advice for what locations would best suit for accommodating, affordable housing? I'm out of state presently and unable to view properties. I notice a lot of the attainable properties seem dilapidated on a good day. What is your opinion of cumberland versus other towns in Maryland?
Just wondering, hopefully there is. So I don't feel lonely in this tiny town
Hello,
I will be visiting Frostburg/Cumberland for the rail bike tour this weekend with my younger toddlers ages 5 and 7. We're wondering if there's any local spots or recommendations to keep them entertained after we finish rail biking. Any farms in the area with pick your own?
Thank you!
Looking for recommendations for a place offering Thanksgiving catering. We are renting a place nearby for a family gathering and it would be nice to not spend all day cooking and cleaning up after.
Looking to relocate somewhere cheaper from Florida. I live in a high crime area already, was the murder capital of Florida for a few years recently. Grew up in Wisconsin so not a stranger to cold winters. I work 100% remote, but need to be closer to the office in DC for periodic in person meetings. My options due to work restrictions is PA, MD, or VA. I heard good things about Cumberland through my post on r/samegrassbutgreener. Is the crime rate high, in terms of random crimes? Or does it stay within drug circles and drunken brawls?
I put in for a bear tag and just to be prepared I’m trying to figure out places to hunt. It looks like savage mountain, dans mountain, warrior mountain, and Frederick city watershed are all popular places. I’ve heard clear spring area and Indian Springs WMA holds a decent amount of bear too. Any other recommendations? I’m in the Hagerstown area. Ideally I’ll find someone who has private land and a bear damage problem.
Looking for attentive, responsive ,reliable insurance agent in Cumberland, MD. Any outstanding ones? Ones to avoid?
Hello! I am looking for a small office space to rent. It can be an office, apartment or a private room. I will need my own dedicated high speed internet service. If you have something I can rent or know of something I would love to hear from you. Thank you!
I'm planning on getting my driver's license soon and was wondering if anyone had done so before at the Cumberland MVA and had some insight on the public portion of the test. Other MVAs have routes posted on YouTube so I was curious if there was any information like that out there!
My bf and I grew up in Cumberland and were in town for the weekend. We decided to go to a bar around 11pm on Saturday night. My Place in Ridgeley WV used to be the sure thing, but when we showed up at 11:30pm, it was completely closed! Do the bars not stay open on the weekends anymore?
Grew up in what was then rural Central MD, would like to come back to MD for retirement in a few years - but I'm looking further West.
Access to C&O and GAP trails are big plus for Cumberland. How's medical care? Public parks, county museum and such? How hard is it to get permits for home renovations? Internet access? Insurance costs? Are there areas which are good for biking around - not just recreationally, but to groceries, or lunch or whatever?
What else should I be thinking about for retiring to Cumberland?
Thank you!
Title says it all - it works amazingly (j7 model) ~850msrp

Anybody have a recommendation for exterior house painting? Thanks much!
Hey there! I’m traveling between MI and VA (and back) and thought Cumberland would be a cool place to base for a couple of days. My idea would be to drive to Cumberland, get a hotel, short evening ride, longer (20+) ride in the morning, go to VA for the party, ride 20+ the next morning, head home. Where would be a good place to stay that’s convenient to some trails? Thanks!
Hi All, Are there any house cleaning services you can recommend? Thumbtack, Google, etc don't seem to have much but surely there are people in town that pay others for this work?
Hi all! Looking for recommendations for wedding photographers and videographers in the area.
Hello there! I'm coming to your town early next week for a few days from Scotland. Just out of curiosity how much are we talking for a beer in the local bars? And what are the most popular bars in town I'm a 30y/o guy

It’s crunch time for the 2024 Maryland legislation! Please communicate your support for critical bicycling/safety bills to your state senator and delegates via the action at https://waba.org/blog/2024/03/support-pro-bicycling-pro-safety-maryland-legislation/.
We’re working to win favorable committee and floor votes on key bills in advance of the March 18 “crossover” deadline. If a bill hasn’t passed one chamber – the Senate or the House – by Monday, it’s unlikely to advance this year. The way to win votes is for you to get in touch with your representatives in Annapolis. Please act NOW. It will take you just five minutes.
I just moved here from Florida and I brought my first house and I’m 37 y/o and I’m trying to find things to do and meet new people. I’m car-less at the moment because my dream was to save money and buy my house and I did it today !
I'm looking to start real estate investing and live in harford County. Prices are ridiculously high and low inventory in my area and I'm considering the Cumberland area due to low cost homes and the potential upside if the area turns around. I am not loaded by any means, I'm just finally earning more than what's going out. My concern is the obvious that the area is depressed, not much in the way of economic development and crime rate. I will probably visit in the next month for the day. Any suggestions of where to go, any insights in regards to my concerns? What are the best and worst neighborhoods, attractions etc. What are going rates for rentals, 2 bed, 3 bed, etc? Thank you
