Which describes you?

Out of curiosity, which of these applies to you? Personally, I was born in Cuba and later had the possibility to leave.

Por curiosidad, ¿cual de estas aplica a ti? Personalmente, yo nací en Cuba y luego tuve la oportunidad de irme.

What would the locals appreciate I bring to Varadero from Canada when I come? Mainly for kids and easy to transport.

Thanks! I'm assuming they really need help there.

Hi, does anyone know which terminal at José Martí airport i should go to to catch my flight to Cancun? the airline is "Euroairlines" (operated by Viva or Magnicharters I'm guessing). Also, does anyone know which terminal in Cancun it arrives at?

(Wild)Camping on Cuba

I was wondering if it would be a good idea to discover Cuba by Bike and using a hammock+plane for sleeping in the nature. I'm planning to do it for 2-3 weeks going around the island. Is it legal and safe? I lived now 5 months in Brazil and would never do it here. If it's not safe do u have other recommendations of going around the island without having a driver license?

If the regime falls, will the price of all-inclusive resorts go up in Cuba?

I want to spend a week on vacation in Cuba this winter, but I really do not want to have to pay much for it.

How can I live in Cuba

Hello, Im from South Korean and I want to know about how to live in Cuba. I haven't planned to do it yet, but I want to know more specifically. I didn't have any information about Cuban law in Korean. So I don't know anything. Can I get citizenship or permanent residency in any way other than marrying a Cuban? If so, what should I do. Please tell me.

Travel to Cuba

Hello all,

Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

I’m hoping to get some insight from some folks that have recently or are currently visiting Cuba from the United States.

I am planning a trip with a few guys to Cuba in April of 25. The purpose will be to explore, support the Cuban people, culture, a little bit of partying but we are pretty much washed up at this point with that anyway. Havana, pinar del rio, maybe Trinidad? Of course Veradero is an option too.

In my experience traveling around the world I almost never give much attention to some of the warnings I read online and I’ve had a lot of success in my travels.

This one has me wondering a little bit after reading some of the current events so I would like to hear from some people in Cuba. No offense but if you’re just going off of the news please refrain from commenting because I’ve read all the articles.

My questions are:

Is there a drastic difference in Cuba now from just a few months ago?

Can Americans rent cars?

Is the country fairly traversable at this point in time? Things like closed roads, closed city’s, roadblocks, checkpoints?

Are the blackouts still persistent?

What are the biggest challenges you faced traveling here? I understand there are snags.

You can point out the poverty, but honestly it’s not a reason I won’t go. I’ve seen real poverty. I understand it’s a reality in the world. and I’ll only be there to help the situation. Not hurt it.

Thank you very much for your time!

This is what they are giving to children for lunch at school in Santa Cruz del Sur. Today, they called the parents to go and pick them up because there was no lunch. Total societal collapse.

Sandro Castro says that he will be celebrating his birthday as just another young “revolutionary” in his “business”… for those who don’t know him, this is the grandson of Fidel Castro.

Can someone explain to me, the difference between CUBA & Venezuela?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4CjVQESD18

How can there be so much food in Venezuela & Cubans are starving?

I mean is the embargo? V does not have one & they are not an island that... but I've been in PR and the FOOD in Puerto Rico is amazing, pricy but there is.

So why??

I honestly believe cuba is a social experiment at this point.

If Cuba became a democracy would you move back?

Lets say there's a war and the people win. Let's say it's a Democarcy now and they're about to hold their 1st election. For those who left Cuban within the last 10 years. Would you go back? Why or why not?

How to talk to Cubans?

Hello!
I am a traveller and I am planning to visit Cuba and stay for around 1 week-10 days!

Cuba has been a country I've been interested in my whole life, and I happen to be an hour flight away, so I decided to go and explore it for my self!

As cringey as that sounds, I do not consider myself a regular tourist. I’m not really into beaches, castles, or standard tourist activities. My goal is to meet people, have meaningful conversations, and learn about daily life in Cuba. I even learned Spanish for that purpose.

Now, I am aware of the current situation and challenges, and doing my best to educate myself on the history and circumstances leading to this point. That said, as an outsider, I know there’s only so much I can truly understand.

Which brings me to my questions:

  • How can I approach Cubans respectfully to hear their thoughts about life and the current situation?
  • Are people generally open to discussing these topics with a foreigner, or is it better to avoid them?
  • What are some ways to ensure my visit benefits locals directly and doesn’t contribute to the systems that make life harder for them?

For context, I’m (lucky and privileged) Palestinian, so I know what it’s like to have foreigners who sometimes act like overnight experts on your home. I’m hoping to avoid that dynamic and approach this trip with humility and genuine curiosity.

Gracias
