Is it normal to not be able to sleep on my side. I know it's still really early. I'm 10 days post op. But everything else is very normal. I can laugh cough sneeze ect with next to no pain. I can sit up and down. I haven't taken anything but ibuprofen for the last 4 days. My recovery feels really good. Other than I have to sleep in a recliner. I'm a side sleeper so if I lay in bed my body HAS to move onto my side. But it hurts so fucking bad. It feels like it's ripping something inside me. Even if my husband tries to roll me onto my side it is so insanely painful. Will this go away? Is it normal? How long will this last?
I had my first child in December 2023. She was born with a lot of health issues, so my focus has mostly been on her, not the experience I had.
Is it normal to have pain during C-section? Unfortunately my memories of it all are very hazy. I remember after the spinal tap him checking my skin if I felt something and so said yes. He basically said it was fine and then they started the operation.
I remember them cutting me. I felt a ton of pressure and what I associated with pain, but it may have just been a lot of anxiety.
My husband said I told the anestesiologist that I was in pain and he gave me some fentanyl. Apparently, he also didn’t read my chart that I had a prior history of opioid abuse 15+ years ago.
Either I was in excruciating pain or my receptors are off. He had to max me out and then I overdosed and they had to narcan me on the table.
He told me that my opioid receptors are off and I need more than the average person. I understand that, but I actually am the opposite and always have been. I am VERY very sensitive to opiates and feel effects at a low dose.
My mom revealed to me she suspects something was wrong, the way he was acting. Of course, he shamed me for not telling him, when I was rushed into C-section and it’s all over my chart. I literally had to drug test to take my child home and I have been clean 15+ years. I almost wonder if he messed up my spinal tap and I was feeling more than normal.
It was such a traumatic experience and I think I’m trying to make sense of it all. I’m terrified to have another C-section. I have no memory of my daughter being born beyond a second looking at her. She was taken from my and rushed to the NICU, and I don’t remember any of it.
I have 2 giant bumps on my scar area, I’m using scar sheets but I’m about 2 1/2 years out of my last c-section. Will the scar sheets help or am I out of luck?
I've posted a bit on here and everyone has been so wildly kind and helpful. Thank you all!
That's all. See you all on the other side! <3
Does anyone suffering from lower back paon when sleeping? Any suggestions please
Just posting to see if others have had a similar experience: up until last week (6 weeks postpartum) I had been recovering fairly well from my unplanned c-section. My pain had tapered off and I hadn’t needed to take pain meds for several weeks. But shortly after my 6-week pp visit, I started experiencing a big uptick in pain above my incision. I thought maybe I had just overdone it with walking, but didn’t get better so a few days later I messaged my doctor’s office about it. A nurse said it was probably muscular pain and advised I take 600mg ibuprofen & rest until I felt better.
But a week later, it is no better and I’ve been having to stay on top of my ibuprofen for the pain, otherwise I’m at a 7/10 in pain with stabbing/burning in the middle of my “shelf” and it being tender to the touch as well. Finally noticed this morning that the skin in the area looked a little pink so I messaged my doctor’s office again— they wouldn’t be able to see me until tomorrow so advised I head to an urgent care to rule out cellulitis.
Urgent care indeed diagnosed cellulitis — turns out I was also running a low grade fever but didn’t realize it— and gave me a shot of antibiotics there in the office + a prescription for a week of oral antibiotics. I’m supposed to return in 2 days so they can check my progress.
I’m glad I finally got seen but I’m also really worried about my prognosis…I keep reading horror stories of women who got cellulitis postpartum after a c section and most of them ended up getting admitted to the hospital for care. Has anyone been through cellulitis this far out postpartum and how did things turn out for you?
I had an internal vertical C-section with baby #2 in August 2022 after a failed induction (baby had IUGR and was delivered at 37w3d) due to too much scarring from my horizontal C-section with my first baby. They also nicked the placenta, so they had to take him out quickly using a vertical incision.
My baby had a hard time breathing—he was startled when they took him out—was put on CPAP, and had to be tube-fed because he wouldn't eat from breast or bottle. Thankfully, he is now 2 and thriving with no complications.
I'm currently pregnant with baby #3, due in May 2025, and my midwife wants me to have a scheduled C-section at 37 weeks due to the possibility of uterine rupture because of the horizontal incision on my uterus. What are the odds of uterine rupture if I waited until at least 38 weeks instead of delivering at 37 weeks? I really don't want to go through the same experience again. I had really bad PPD and really don't want my baby or me to go through that again if I deliver at 37 weeks.
Hi all! Im 6 days postpartum with my sweet girl, MAYBE overdoing it a little bit considering she's 9 lbs but that's not exactly my question. I'm supposed to take my bandages off tomorrow. The past couple days I noticed that my incision seems to hurt when I need to poop? Is that an issue? Are my guts just trying to find their place or something? It's a burning pain, I think from the inside. Has anyone experienced this?
I feel like there is a bone at the top of the opening that fell downwards or something because my vagina is so tiny he literally cannot fit in anymore. Have been trying dilators to stretch but that hasn’t helped much. 10 wks pp… Any advice?
Is this actual bone or just very firm muscle that I am feeling that is blocking the opening?
I had my baby last week and due to medical circumstances, had to get an emergency c section. For me, the worst pain seems to happen when I have to get up from being in bed. Can anyone recommend if there are specific ways you get out of bed that may make the pain feel less terrible? For me, it’s the area right above my incision site, on the right side of my tummy. I realize I’ve only been home a few days, but man do I wish this pain would go away sooner. It’s already bad enough we have to deal with lochia😭 Also, does anyone wear a binder to bed? Or does that sound too extreme ??
Third pregnancy and I have had 2 csections. With both, after the csection was over and catheter removed, I couldn’t pee within the allotted time and both times had to have the catheter put back, which sucked. The next day it was removed and I could pee thankfully. Has anyone had this happen to them??
I messaged my provider about some concerns with my incision and haven’t gotten much of a response or direction on next steps. The redness developed two days ago, and tenderness/firmness under the red area developed earlier today. I plan to call another provider office tomorrow, but curious if this might warrant a trip to urgent care instead. Note: I’m one month pp and the shine on my incision is from Neosporin.
This is my first pregnancy and I'm going in for a scheduled C-section because my baby is breech.
We have the basics done - our house is clean, we have all the baby care supplies, etc. - but is there anything we should do/consider that might not be obvious?
Thank you a ton!
They don't recommend them in the UK where I am based. What does it help with? And does anything decrease the c section shelf? Going for my third in March.
Hey y'all!
So I had my baby via planned c-section in February. I still feel pain in my belly button area and right below when pressed on it. It doesn't linger and it only really hurts when I press on it or he kicks me during diaper changes. My recovery was a bit slow as I babied it (didn't want to pop stitches), and my doctor said the same thing that I set myself back by being too careful.
Is the slight pain when pressed normal? I've read yes, but yanno... first time mom and I'm an anxious person!
Thanks!
Hello!
I had a c-section almost 8 weeks ago now. I’m at the point where I am comfortable to start fitness and going to the gym to get my body back in shape post pregnancy. My scar is healed pretty much, but I have quite a big hanging belly that I’m trying to reduce. Only problem is, I don’t know where to start. I’m not sure what exercises to do that are helpful with this, what diet to have etc. I didn’t work out much pre-pregnancy as I was quite slim anyways but now I’d like to get into it. If anyone has any advice on this and can help me out please let me know, any help is much appreciated! Are there any apps or services that may be particularly helpful ?
Apologies if this is the wrong sub to post in, I’ve only just joined here and searching for assistance wherever I can :)
Thankyou!
I’ve had a heck of a healing journey during after my second scheduled c section on September 8th. I think I’m looking for guidance from anyone that has experienced anything like this as I am losing hope I’ll ever fully heal. And I have an 17 month old that needs me along with my newborn. For context , my first c section healed by 6 weeks just fine with no infections.
I’ve been on 3 rounds of different antibiotics over the past 7.5 weeks due to my incision being inflamed and “infected” as the ER and my ob say. A drained access on the right side of my incision at 2 weeks pp as well ( I couldn’t even walk at one point it was so painful) . I’ve been to the post partum clinic and my ob I kid you not 6 times.
Over the past 7 weeks I have not lifted anything heavier than my baby and have done warm compresses with epson salts, and completely dried the incision site with clean towels and a fan every time for over 4 weeks every day. Last night I lifted my toddler out of his crib to the bath becuase my husband was on his way home and he puked all over himself in the middle of the night ( I was 7.5 weeks pp) and now my right side of my incision is bleeding a bit again . It is still super sensitive and painful to twist and make sudden movements. Again this was the first time lifting my toddler over these past 7.5 weeks !!
If anyone has ever experienced a healing process like this I would love to hear your story. I am not overweight and do not have diabetes or any health issues I am aware of to cause this slow healing process . I’m going crazy …
Is this normal? I have periods when there is no bleeding and then suddenly I pass some small clots. They are bright red and stringy and probably size of a nickel. Today evening I had bright red spotting and some clots.
I have been doing moderate activity around the house, such as squatting to the dryer, dishwasher, sitting on the floor and getting up, climbing up and down the stairs multiple times. I have been off painkillers for a week and have no lingering pain.
The part I'm most nervous about is the IV because that's what hurt the most last time.
The part besides hearing my babies babbling noises as they pull him/her out for the first time and finding out the gender that I'm looking forward to most is the catheter. I cannot wait to not have to get up to pee every two seconds.
Not super looking forward to the tugging and pulling when they are sewing you up or the immense pressure that lasts 5 seconds as they get the baby out but these things and minor and happen so fast.
Super looking forward to that first meal after birth and how amazing food tastes. I'm bringing half an eaten burrito I got earlier today and some potato bacon soup. I didn't really restrict myself from eating anything during my pregnancy besides rare steak. Sushi and runny farm fresh eggs were on the regular docket.
I have a low lying placenta :( anyone else? This was seen today at My anatomy scan and I've had 2 prior c sections I'm so scared it's going to turn into placenta accreta. Has anyone been in a similar situation before and what was the outcome? TIA :)
When did you start losing feeling and having numbness?
All I feel is pain, and I would appreciate some numbness.
My friend just had a c section three days ago and I’d like to send her some things to help her heal and feel better. Her favourite snacks and drinks obviously, but other than Vaseline, a heating pad, some maxi pads, and pain meds what should i include? Thanks in advance!
I'm having a scheduled c section in 8 days. It's not technically medically necessary but because of my mental health issues, having some sort of control of when baby would come and not having to worry about my intrusive thoughts taking over during labour, it seemed like the best birth for me.
However, now that I'm closer to, I'm terrified of the pain. I have had two abdominal surgeries (gastric bypass a decade ago and my gallbladder a year later). At those times, I was able to take pain medication to eleviate the pain but unfortunately now, my stomach cannot tolerate pain meds. If I take them, I am in excruciating pain in my abdomen and I think it's due to over using Advil when I was injured at a sporting event and I wanted to continue to participate (I played hockey)
Has anyone with gastric bypass had this issue with pain meds and still managed to have a c section? I will likely be on IV meds during my hospital stays (which is a minimum of 48 hours) but I'm worried about when I come home.
Just looking for experiences.

Im 4 days out from my c section and haven’t seen an improvement in the pain yet. I have a bad burning pain on one side that hurts when I stand up.
I’m 6 weeks post planned c section and feeling pretty good overall, walking around and lifting things (nothing super heavy). Every now and then I feel like I’ve pulled some muscles in my lower stomach but nothing terrible. Since surgery I’ve slept on my back but last night slept for a few hours on my side. During pregnancy I slept on my side with a pillow between my legs as I had some pelvic pain. Anyway when I woke up this morning it was agony to sit up in my pelvis and all of today I’ve felt sore and like I’ve pulled muscles in my pelvis - has anyone had this from sleeping in their side? Is this still related to the c section?
Hi there! I’ve read that it’s more common for c-section babies to have a cow milk protein allergy and to be all around more fussy. I have a 5 week old and he seems to struggle with gas and could possibly be colicky. We give him simethicone drops for his gas and they seem to help a bit but not always. Does anyone have experience with this? Would love to hear thoughts and experiences!
This is my second C-section. First was a breech babe and I have zero interest in a vbac after how smooth my first went. Can't wait to meet the little one I've been growing inside me the past 9 months. This pregnancy was ROUGH on me hormone wise but great how little anxiety I had surrounding the pregnancy and actual birth.
Pretty much what the title says, I gave myself a c section massage and unfortunately the scar looks like I had a c section 2 weeks ago rather than two years. Bit disappointed with myself because it didn't hurt during, but I've obviously injured myself.
