Alright, ive bin thinking of Cryses 4, I’ve got a wild theory about Crysis 4. Crytek has been cooking something big, and while Crysis 2 will forever be my favorite (don’t argue; it’s peak storytelling), there’s so much potential for the next chapter. And guess who I think might make a comeback? Jacob Hargreave.
First, let’s clear up something about Hargreave’s “cloud mind” (for those unfamiliar). Jacob Hargreave, from Crysis 2, can be thought of as having a "cloud server-type mind" in a metaphorical sense. His consciousness was heavily augmented by technology, allowing him to "exist" beyond his physical body. He was connected to advanced systems, and his ability to interact with Alcatraz through futuristic comms made him almost omniscient.
Hargreave’s near-limitless oversight of CELL, the Ceph, and his manipulation of the Nanosuit reflected this. His mind worked like a modern cloud server, able to manage vast amounts of data and coordinate complex operations simultaneously. He wasn’t just a genius scientist—he was the architect of humanity’s future.
Now imagine this: what if Hargreave had a contingency plan? His physical body is gone, but what if he uploaded his consciousness into an AI before his death? Boom, you’ve got the perfect setup for his return in Crysis 4. And not just as an AI, but as a full-on Hitler-style dictator.
The Vision Hargreave could rebuild CELL, but this time with more control:
Implanting AI chips into humans to control them as his puppets. Reverse-engineering Ceph tech to create synthetic alien soldiers. Rebranding himself as humanity’s savior, while actually trying to dominate the world and reclaim the Nanosuit. He could even use his cloud-like mind to launch a full-scale psychological war. Imagine him hacking into networks, feeding propaganda, and making every soldier and civilian see you (Prophet or the new protagonist) as the enemy.
Prophet’s Dilemma Let’s not forget Prophet’s insane hybrid transformation in Crysis 3. He’s part human, part Ceph, and part Nanosuit—essentially a walking WMD. He’s already haunted by flashbacks of his past, but now he could face an identity crisis on a whole new level. What if Hargreave starts planting memories or exploiting Prophet’s Ceph connection to manipulate him?
Or worse—what if humans start viewing Prophet as the next Alpha Ceph? He saved the world, but people might fear him as much as the aliens he destroyed.
Gameplay Possibilities Here’s how Crytek could take this to the next level:
Shapeshifting Nanosuit: Prophet could mimic alien forms or blend into environments, adding stealth and strategy. AI-Controlled Enemies: Fight humans under Hargreave’s control—but with the moral dilemma of saving or killing them. Flashback Missions: Explore Prophet’s fractured psyche or even Hargreave’s twisted consciousness in VR-like segments. Alien Biomes: Imagine fighting through alien-infested cities, cyberpunk-style CELL bases, and sprawling jungle biomes that blend human and Ceph architecture. The Big Question Should Crysis 4 bring back Prophet as the hero, or introduce a new Nanosuit user? Would you want Hargreave to return as an AI dictator, or should Crytek go with a fresh villain?
Personally, I think this setup could make Crysis 4 the FPS of the decade. Crytek could lean into modern fears of AI, authoritarianism, and human-technology hybridization.
What do you all think? Let’s make this thread so big Crytek and EA can’t ignore it!

Something weird is happening. I can only hear things when I look at the sound source. For example, if there's a car passing by, I can only hear it while I look at it - when I look away, the sound goes away too.
Anyone knows what's going on?
I'm using the C1 launcher with the steam version of the game.
Video of the problem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-VLvLCMgZY
What I tried so far:
- original and C1 executables;
- install the newest audio drivers for my motherboard;
- change the audio quality to 41KHz;
- edit the config file and add "s_SpeakerConfig = 2"
Thanks
-------------------------------------------------------
EDIT: Solved by removing the newest driver. Funny that it happened with the default Windows driver (2020 date), then with the mobo driver (2024 date), then didn't happen once the newest one was removed (then Windows installed a version from 2023).
Just finished replaying the remastered trilogy. 1 and 2 are good, but what really stood out was crysis 3 remastered. Just the way it plays, how goddamn smooth it runs, and how GORGEOUS it looks. Its just tremendous. I'm not sure ive seen a better looking game to be honest. Now with DLSS it ran at high settings with quality DLSS like a charm. Buttery smooth.
The core gameplay loop really stands out in 3; how smooth transitioning in and out of stealth is, how they went back to more open levels. The dam mission really stands out. Just the scale of everything is just soo massive. It also has mechanics alot of games released today don't even have. Just to name a few: Sliding down hill, leaning/mounting on edges, changing attachements on the go (last battlefield did this in 2021 i guess). And it had those features in 2013!!!
Now i'm just left wanting more - more multiplayer especially, at least for crysis 3 even tho the servers are gone.
Story wise i'm not sure if i want a direct sequel to crysis 3 as i feel the story has concluded, maybe a soft reboot like i've seen some people mention. That might be a good idea to be honest, considering that if Crysis 4 launches today, and you need 3 games of prior knowledge to understand anything, that could be risky. A soft reboot can introduce alotta new fans to the franchise who did not play Crysis in 2007.
What do you guys think about Crysis 3 remastered? I just can't believe that game came out in 2013 after playing it today. What are your hopes for the future regarding Crysis 4? What game modes do you want? Extraction shooter, battle royale, just good old fashioned TDM? Might be controversial but selfishly i would love something that kept it going, at least 1 mode that is live-service, just so i can stay in the crysis universe (i'm sick of playing Apex legends.....)
Posting because i have noone to talk to about Crysis, what do you guys think?
Greetings. During the final mission of Crysis 3 (or at least I think it is) you need to jump into the beam but then it tells me I failed the secondary objective "Sabotage the cooling structure". I can't find information about this online... Does someone know what that is or what to do about it? I'd really appreciate the assistance.
The C1-launcher is a must have for the original Crysis and Crysis Warhead games since it fixes tons of problems on modern systems but I did notice that it does not seem to work with launching through Steam. I like to track my total playtime and have access to the Steam overlay.
I am on Crysis Warhead btw. I already tried to rename the Crysis64.exe to Crysis.exe and the CrysisWarheadLauncher.exe to Crysis64 but I guess it doesnt work this way since the launcher looks for Crysis64.exe in the same directory but this exe is the one that Steam launches by default.
Is there maybe a tricky workaround for this or a way to tell the C1-launcher to launch XY exe via commandline? Or Steam to launch a different exe for the game?
why does my crysis keep crashing on Switch?
As a person who grew up with Crysis games in which after all these years i still say playing the Crysis franchise was the best thing that happened to me, i have lots of questions, which of course most of them were answered with the comics of Crysis but some of them still remains.
And i was hoping any of you could help me get out of this not-knowing misery lol...
When did Prophet and Psycho (According to crysis 3 Psycho also had Nanosuit 2.0) get the Nanosuit 2? I mean the game didn't say anything about that right? nor the Comics. We just see Prophet is in NewYork and has the Nanosuit 2.0 in crysis 2.
I thought this group would like this indie fps that deserves more attention! If mods to do not deem this appropriate, go right ahead and delete this post. I just thought this crew would like this one :)
I have thought of many stories how Crysis 4 could go, and here are my most interesting takes, by the way, I have always been interested by the Crysis series, I have played Crysis 1 way back when I was 4, and this year I have really dived deep into the story, and now I am absolutely immersed in it :D
Theory 1: One of the least likely but, what if, now thousands or millions of years have passed, and the nanosuit 2 has somehow deteriorated (yes, even though it's really advanced) but people have decided to store Prophet's mind, consciousness to maybe help them or guide them in the future if they needed help, or maybe put him in a new suit, and he would fight against some aliens with the people
Theory 2: What if the C.I.A or C.E.L.L have found dead Prophet's body, and since the Crysis universe is really advanced, they ressurected him, but they would keep it extremely secret, so we don't know these things are happening, since these organisations like to hide these things from people, and they would maybe experiment with him, but keep in mind, he would be different from the AI Prophet, this would be normal, human Prophet, and then maybe after a few years, after the events of Crysis 3, what if the AI Prophet has gone rogue, and started to transform maybe into Ceph, and maybe even become the Alpha Ceph, since he can, and he has the DNA of ceph stored in the nanosuit, so what if the cloned Ceph and he would fight against humanity, and then the real Prophet, Lawrence Barnes comes into play, they maybe create a new nanosuit, something like a nanosuit 2.5 or 3, which is a little more advanced, they put him in it, and the human Prophet fights against the Ceph again and the AI Prophet, or in other ways the Alpha Ceph, and we would play as THE Lawrence Barnes
Theory 3: What if Crysis 4 doesn't go into the future, but rather it goes into the past, what if Crysis 4 is about the events before the Crysis events, what if it is about the training of Raptor team, the lives of the members of Raptor team before the nanosuits, their trainings after getting the nanosuits, I think that this is a very interesting idea
And just for fun here is the entire analysis second by second of the teaser trailer for Crysis 4:
Second 1: Pitch black screen, with music starting, Second 2: The sun appears to explode, Second 3 - 5: The sun not exploded appears, second 6 - 8 something like black pebbles appear and like turn to hexagons and start to rise from the ground, Second 9 - 11 some kind of orange explosion (which is probably the sun again) and then like a beam shoots the (black) hexagons which are now again on the ground and dont look like hexagons but like pebbles and the pebbles go everywhere, Second 11 - 13 the pebbles form some kind of structures and then pebbles fall from the sky, Second 14 a VTOL! appears, and in the same second a nanosuit helmet appears in the pebbles, Second 15 - 16: like a building, black building collapsed appears, Second 17 pebbles on the ground appear, and then from second 19 they lift up from the ground and start to form a ball or something, second 26 - 29, like a molecule or something forming appears, second 28 the molecules start to like bond together and create like a net structure, second 30, like a soft smooth black like tissue appears, second 30 too, the net again, second 31 to 32 the tissue appears again and pebbles go around it and then the pebbles in second 34 form the number 4, second 37 - 40 the Crysis 1 theme subtly sounds, and then from that the 4 is still on the screen and second 42 words under the 4 appear ''JOIN THE JOURNEY. BECOME THE HERO. and then second 44 or 45 WWW.CRYTEK.COM appears and the teaser ends still with the 4 still being on the screen
And just my thought, the VTOL appearing maybe could symbolise something about Psycho, because we try to save him from the VTOL at the end of Crysis 3, but we are unsucessful, could this maybe mean he didn't die?
Tell me your thoughts about these theories, could they become reality?
this lock has drove me to insanity it won’t stop disconnecting the link i can’t stand it ringing the static sound effect in my ear anymore please i’m genuinely fucking tweaking
Hello to the small but loyal fanbase of the Crysis Franchise. Here is my issue: when I load a mod I created (combining 5 mods into 1 mod) on my Crysis 2 Mod page, it reboots but then a pop-up window appears and says "CryEngine Error: Invalid Parameter in CRT function". I have deleted all of a texture mod but it still appears. I have revised all damn files, and I have not found no error yet. What could be the cause of this error? There is no help online.
In "Crysis 2" i heard Barclay saying "I was in lingshan i saw Strickland die"
Anybody saw barclay in crysis 1 or the remastered version of it?
Did they ever continue nomad's story, I've only just recently stumbled along Crysis in my steam library and remembered all my memories as a kid. It got me wondering, is there any like YouTube videos on what happened to Nomad or continues the story from warhead and 1?
Greetings everyone. I've recently started playing C3 Remastered and I don't play with default controls. I'm still in the first mission and hacking and unlocking doors only works with default controls so far.
Is it like that only in that mission or is it like that throughout the entire game? (I'm basically asking if there's even a point to still try to play with alternative key bindings).
I'd appreciate the assistance from any of you guys.
For my readers: In anticipation of a rather complicated post, I thought I'd give you something light and introduce you to my favourite enemy from Crysis Part 2, and try to work out - can it exist?
Ceph Pinger is an armoured, heavily-armed ceph robot that appears in the Crysis games.
It is a walking tank with an all-rotating turret with three massive legs at the base. It is approximately 7 metres tall and weighs several tens of tonnes.
Let's start with the most interesting part, the Pinger is equipped with two weapons: a plasma weapon and a pulse weapon.
An example of the use of pulse weapons.
Unfortunately, nothing is known about the materials used by the Cephs to create the armour, we can only roughly say that it is a metal of immense hardness, capable of withstanding insane temperatures and conducting electricity through itself
The durability of this armour is enormous, so the Pinger can withstand several shots from modern tanks shown in the game.
Pinger is equipped with high-tech night and heat vision, capable of detecting the enemy even in the water or behind a wall, but he is mostly aided by echolocation. Yes, Pinger is the only Ceph that can navigate through space like a bat using echolocation, so he can easily detect the protagonist almost anywhere if he is close enough.
The Pinger is ‘groping’ the space around him.
In the first part of the game, Cephs were capable of converting any energy source (even heat) into power for themselves, but apparently in the second part they switched to more concentrated power cells, which we can later see in the third part. The Pinger's main power source is located in the back of his body, this is also his most vulnerable part. Apparently, this location was chosen for the lack of battery cooling, as well as the ability to quickly replace the power source.
Although it can be said that the developers put it so only from a gameplay point of view. I think it is clear to everyone that in our reality there is hardly any power supply that can compete with the Cephus one.
This ‘egg’ is the Pinger's power source.
Upd - the hull of the Pinger is sufficiently sealed that it can move underwater at least at a depth of about 10-15 metres.
And that's it, now you know more
Is this something that happens on the Steam version because I have only seen people report it on Xbox. Can anyone testify to this?
