Clutch size question

I have a 2011 1.4t 6mt Holden Cruze (Australian) and silly me let a mate drive my car after he assured me he can drive a manual. Not even an hour later he brings the car back with the clutch burnt out!

Now, looking at the prices of clutch kits, a kit for the 1.4t as is a few hundred $$ dearer than a kit for the 1.8.. But I’m hearing that they are basically the same unit? Same diameter., same spline count etc etc.. And that the 1.8 clutch kit should fit my 1.4t??

Money is pretty tight atm, so I’d like to still get a decent clutch kit, but without having to sell a kidney lol

Can anyone confirm?

Can someone squeeze their 1.4 coolant hose for me??? Lol

I am doing some coolant system work on the car and am trying to figure out if i need to replace the thermostat housing/gasket. When i squeeze my coolant hose, i hear a slosh or a hiss coming from the thermostat area. Trying to figure out if this is normal for the Cruze or if my gasket is bad. I have a new thermostat housing ready to put in because this thermostat is very old but want to make sure they all don’t do that.

Service Stabilitrak + flashing engine light

Alright… first issue I’ve had with my 2018 Chevy Cruze LT. I’m at 180K clicks, and haven’t had any problems with my car since getting it 5 years ago.

Today, drove to my kid’s hockey game and when we were leaving, the car was shaking and the “service stabilitrack” came up on my screen as well as the engine light flashing.

Did some research and seems like it could be spark plugs and coils. Got it towed home and left some messages for some shops to get into. BUT, wondering if this has been a problem for anyone else and what the result was/cost of fixing.

2014 push-to-start Fobs keep becoming undetectable

Bought a 2014 push-to-start Cruze this year. A few weeks ago the original key fob (only one that came with the car) would no longer be recognized by the car except in the transmitter pocket. Still drivable but annoying because the car alarm would go off everytime I unlocked it manually. Alarm doesn’t turn off until I insert the fob into the transmitter pocket, press the break, and actually start the car up. No change with a new battery in the fob. The car battery itself was dying and I thought it might be related.

Got a new car battery and a new fob one week ago and everything was working fine again so I figured one of those was the fix. But now, a week later, the brand new fob isn’t being recognized by the car just like last time. The car will start if the flip-out key is inserted into the transmitter pocket, but it won’t lock or unlock from outside the car using the remote or handle buttons ( I have to lock and unlock it manually and once again it sets off the alarm and when I use the manual key to get in). When taken out of the transmitter pocket the car won’t recognize the fob at all.

Now that this happened with an old and new fob I’m thinking it’s a problem with the car itself and not both fobs Is there a reason the car would repeatedly “drop” remotes after they were working fine? Is it worth it to try to re-program my new (only) remote myself or do I risk erasing the little bit of functionality my car DOES still have? Sorry if this is the wrong place to post, I'm a newly-dead-dad-haver and I don't know who to ask my car questions anymore. Thanks

CEL turning on and off. On for a day, off for a day then back on again

The code is u0101. 2019 with 80k. No issues with the car, just the cel coming on intermittently. Any ideas what it could be or where i should start looking?

Engine Control Module (ECM

I recently had my check engine light on my 2011 Cruze come on and I went to check it and the codes were P0013 and P0014. Said I needed to replace the Engine Control Module. I was wondering what is the usual maintenance on it and what is the usual price range.

Coolant leak?

I have a 2012 1.4t and there seems to be a coolant leak? I can’t really tell where it’s coming from. Anyone have any idea where to start? I’m tired of refilling this thing every other week 😂

Car jerks back a bit when releasing the gas pedal. Is that normal?

I’ve noticed also that if I put it in a second gear and press on gas it also jerks a bit unless I change the gears very gently.

New aluminum outlet nipples 1.4Turbo.

Hi guys I am currently machining up some additional outlet nipples that replace the last of the brittle plastic in your cooling system. You simply cut off the plastic fittings on the end of the little hose that goes to the top pf the expansion tank, replace with this in about 15 minutes and use a hose clamp to secure the remainder of the existing hose to the brass hose barb. They come with a double O ring which is an upgrade to the original single O ring of the original. Most importantly they won't get brittle and snap like the plastic ones do which then leaves you stranded on the side of the road.

I have had 100%% success rate with folks that have purchased one of these from me. They go for $31 plus $6 shipping to US destinations. HMU in Chat if you would like one.

Ecotec praise (weird, I know)

I talk a lot of trash on the Ecotec platform and still do plan on doing an i4 swap at some point (preferably from the Cobalt SS), but the Cruze Premier that my wife drives got us through a medical emergency and drove us 2 towns over in amazing time.

It's extremely well maintained at 45,000 miles and accelerated and held speed like a genuine sports car.

We are all fine BTW.

Never thought I'd say this but...thank you Ecotec. You performed admirably when my family needed you most - honestly, still feels weird lol. Hell yeah!

Turbo white smoke

I recently replaced my turbo because the other one had a crack in it. When I first started the car it was smoking lightly from the whole turbo likely due to oil or other residue being burned off. It's been a day and I've driven it a total of about 2 hours and there is still slight smoke coming from the turbo body itself and I can't see where from specifically. There is a slight smell of something burning but not a strong smell. Before the turbo was replaced the car had no other issues besides power loss due to the crack. The vehicle drives fine with no issues and no overheating or leaks under the car. I filled it with new oil and coolant after the turbo was replaced. Do you think it is still Burning off any residue on it or do you think that there is a leak somewhere.

2017 Cruze LT 1.4 Cold Air Intake. Stupid or not?

I have had a cold air intake on my car for almost 3 years now. Bought the car when I was 18 and wanted to hear the turbo spool when I let off the gas. Now that I am older and slightly more mature, I don't really care for all that and just want my car to run right as it is my daily driver. I have heard that cold air intakes are bad for these types of cars recently, as there is no air box around the cold air intake so it will only suck in hot air (I have an AEM intake). Is this true? Should I ditch it before I cause any damage, or possible further damage to my car?

Is this quote high or reasonable?

Took in for small oil leak periodically. Was told my turbo was leaking and need it replaced with the lines on top of a few other parts that the oil is damaging. Just got a new serpentine belt from these same people last month when they worked on a different issue and couldn't identify the oil leak at that time. Are they quoting me really high or does this look about right?

2019 LS Hatchback Infotainment upgrade

Hi redditers of r/cruze,

Would anyone be able to send me information on what is needed to replace the stock radio/infotainment center in the 2019? I've talked to car radio people and the dealership and no one seems to know. Basically been having issues with Audio stuttering/scratchiness and just recently the map (apple carplay, across multiple iphones) has started to glitch out

I search in this subreddit has comments saying people have done it but can't find any posts of people who have done it.

I appreciated any information that is given.

Thank you!

Has anyone ever replaced a head on a 1.4L before?

Car has no visual leaks but continues to overheat. Had white smoke come out the exhaust when I went over 4500 rpm. Just want to know if it’s easy or hard to do. Ive been able to handle all issues pretty well up to this point. Just want to know if it’s worth the labor or just hand it off to a mechanic. Saw the GM website and it stated the labor time is 10.8 hours. So…any info would help. (If there’s any posts here that is related, but I’ve not seen I’d appreciate a tag in them)

P0420 code keeps playing peek a boo.

I have a 2012 Chevy Cruze @129,478mi. The code came on a few months ago but after a week or so it turned off. The code came back this week but went away again. Has anyone else experienced this?

Stalling out

So i got my 2014 1.8 LS cruze last year changed the intake manifold (came with fuel lines and sensors) and the thermostat. After doing that I began stalling out when at a stop or going slow. So finally I was getting a code for my crankshaft position sensor and went through the ordeal of changing that out. All was working fine no problems for about 4 months, but now yesterday day all of the sudden it's stalling out. There are no codes, the only thing I can really think of is the fuel line sensors clips I dropped some of them and had the purchase clips that weren't exactly the same maybe unlikely? And info and help in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Since the csps change I've also changed my catalytic converter.

Feedback about the community from a new member.

I joined this reddit a few weeks ago with the intention of getting a flash tune.

I took peoples advice about fixing the design defects, and have been checking my vehicle for the warning signs.
I believe I need a waterpump, the PCV mod, and possibly the wastegate actuator is stiff.

You guys have very helpful pinned resources, and I have been learning quite a bit.

Thank you.

2014 Cruze LTZ Issues

My 2014 Cruze LTZ (150,000 miles) has recently started running very weird. It is very much slower than normal and it is a lot quieter. I did a 0-60 test a few days ago after realizing the difference and it took almost 16 seconds from 0. My car also has been very weird when filling up the tank. It takes a bit to start up and just hums and then starts up and runs funny. It shakes and it feels like i’m running over bumps and my acceleration isn’t as snappy. I’ve been throwing the 420 cat converter code since I bought the car (1 month ago) but i’m just wondering if anything else looks weird. Also the previous owner had a cold air intake installed. Here’s a video of the engine bay.
