I know it’s behind a paywall (but so was some Amazon stuff you guys have reviewed?) but I would so love to have the CWO audience exposed to this story. It’s like the Readathon. Honestly, the more things change, the more they stay the same. I know that you provided some encouragement, Rebecca, but Pamela Smart at least deserves a new trial. I’ve been wowed at Mel’s work on it. Also, I’ve been on Reddit for a few years now and this is my first original post! (I’m usually just snarking on other people’s.) We may have created a monster…
I literally cannot stop watching this. (Its on Peacock) I need to hear what you all think!!
It was like a delicious bag of chips! But can we talk about Nicole Kidmans wig and EYEBROWS??? The last few things I've seen her in they have been really dark and slightly askew and why are they putting her in these terrible wigs?
(First I want to make sure that it doesn't seem like I'm criticizing CWO. This is just about the podcasts that they review, not CWO itself!)
I was listening to the CWO bonus episode wherein they attempted to guess the name of a podcast based on the host's name and a hint about the topic/content.
Of course, there is considerable overlap in topics with true crime podcasts, and many of the same type of stories are covered over and over. With that being said, what kind of topics or stories do you think there needs to be more of in this sphere?
Not for any particular reason, but I was just trying to come up with my dream show content and I couldn't move past any of the normal tropes
It is supposed to happen this month. Rebecca, an anxious listenership awaits :)
Who else here has, like Rebecca, made this case their whole personality? Ha. But seriously, it's quite a wild ride. I'm still trying to wrap my brain around it.
I feel like I need one of those one page laminated sheets about a subject.... You know, like they would sell at a college bookstore? They cram everything you need to know on one page.
I am seriously making a spreadsheet of the major players, insane testimony tidbits, etc. I'm officially OCD diagnosed and try to channel it to something somewhat productive!
So - what is the most fascinating/shocking thing from this case for you this far? The more specific the better.
Watching the series on Peacock and it's... okay. But I wondered how realistic the depiction of CrimeCon was - who saw the show and has been to the convention?
I made a thing! Find out which CWO Host you are!
I just finished this doc on Netflix. One this particular that I thought was odd was they showed a picture of a person for “Suspect A” but shadow silhouettes for suspects B and C.
Not sure if this fits CWO's mission, but I'm enjoying "Broomgate: A Curling Scandal" from CBC. And who knew Canada had its own version of "Shark Tank"?
I’m enjoying Bodkin on Netflix. It’s about an investigative journalist and a podcaster investigating some old disappearances. But I am struggling a bit keeping all the names straight with all the characters, particularly when the “investigators” refer to them only by name.
TW: suicide
Hi everyone. I wanted to see who has been following the awful death of Mica Miller.
The whole thing is an utter tragedy and incredibly infuriating. I don't want to go down a crazy rabbit hole trail and make this into something that it is not, but something seems off with the conclusion of suicide. It could be of course, and it probably is, but the steps that led them to that conclusion are way too near and tidy, and documented.

I hope that CWO reviews this one. I'm enjoying it a lot and it's giving strong 90s nostalgia.
I am really hoping they discuss the finale of Beyond All Repair on the after show next week.
I admit that I've been a "It's Frankenstein's MONSTER" person since I read the book in sixth grade.
I was wondering, do you have a true crime "Frankenstein's Monster?" By which I mean, a fact or information about a case which is constantly misquoted or misunderstood? I'm curious.
Hey Bone Valley fans,
Leo Schofield’s parole hearing will begin tomorrow morning, 4/17, at 10 am EST in Tallahassee. Kelsey and Gilbert will be covering it, and they expect to have a bonus episode up by the end of the day, on the #BoneValley feed.
Gilbert said that last year, Leo's turn was around 10AM.
We can listen to the hearing via livestream at @lavaforgood or by listening to livestream at this link:

They will begin at 9AM, regardless of when Leo's turn is.
I am sending love, support, good vibes/ prayers for Leo. Let me know if you are going to do the same.
TW: suicide at school
Thanks for the reddit shout-out, Rebecca!
This week's episode about "Murder 101" made me think back about one of my favorite classes in high school - forensics where we learned all about forensic investigation of crimes. It was great ... I went to an academically rigorous school and this was thenone class where we could have fun.
We made crime scene gingerbread houses during the holidays, a tradition I continue to this day, 20 years later.
Sadly, a student from a neighboring school took his life on our campus that year. I was in my forensics class during the incident and our teacher used that as a learning experience and walked us through everything, which helped us all process it I think.
Did any of you guys have classes like this? What are your thoughts?
I am currently looking for a crime writer. If you are interested let me know.
Congrats to Rebecca, Kevin, Lara, Toby and all tbe others who make my favorite podcast happen!
Looks like Dick Wolf has moved on to documentary.
George obviously hasn’t weighed in with his opinion yet.
Follow up to the Journalism Euphemism Schism... Kevin mentioned a "pig in a poke" in today's review - a poke is an old-fashioned word for bag, so a farmer who bought a pig in a poke didn't really know what he was getting. Now - shortly after that he mentioned "goldbricking," which I always understood to mean slacking off, but I don't know the origin. Anyone? (More fun to put it out to the community than just google)
