he’s molted a few times, but I’ve never caught the process.. I’m a little worried, but I see his pleopods moving in the video so I’m unsure.. pls help!!
I can't get any photos to show what's going on because she just keeps cramming herself into tiny spaces and I don't want to mess with her. New to crawfish. I was doing a little minor tank maintenance after a week of extremely long work hours. She looked dead and honestly like she was growing something on her. I gently picked her up with tongs thinking I'd lost her when she squirmed. I gently put her back where she was but once my brain processed that she was molting I freaked, afraid that I'd messed her up. I shortened her light cycle and left her and the tank alone. Day two: there was what appeared to be an almost full molt in the tank-just missing legs. She was hiding but from what I could tell her legs look all out of place and some even look bent wrong. There also appears to be some molt left on her chest and around the base of her legs. Day three: she is mostly hiding but when she attempts to come out she's not moving right, falls on her back. She appears to be fighting her legs and then taking long breaks where she looks exhausted. One of her pitchers is twisted around and dragging underneath her. I just want advice on whether I should put her out of her misery now (humanely) or if there is any hope that she'll survive to another molt when hopefully her legs right themselves. She hasn't eaten and seems miserable v her usual busy, funny, happy self. I'm very, very attached so I don't want to prolong her misery if that's all it is. I feel horrible because I was gone so much last week that I didn't notice she was pre-molt. I'd been adding shrimp minerals at water changes and top offs but hadn't added a cuttle bone thinking that was enough. Ugh!

I've had this guy for a while and it's been very docile up until recently. found him munching on a shrimp yesterday and he's currently trying to catch more of them. I don't want to have to move him to a different tank so do any of yall have some advice?
Doesn’t even fit in the caves anymore… pls send ideas for bigger hiding spots…
Hello all! You've probably seen my posts on here recently about my crayfish. My biggest one Nyx died a few months ago, and since then I've had two more: Carrot and Apple. Both of them died after just a week or two, and I had literally no idea why for a while. Did water tests (low everything except high water hardness), added new caves to hide in, did everything I thought I had to, but I'm realizing it may be my tropical fish...
In the tank I have about 10 tropical fish, some larger than others. I think what may have happened is when my crayfish goes to eat, the tropical fish swarm the food and steal it from them and/or causes them stress. Carrot barely came out of hiding, and Apple would always try to eat but then eventually the fish would come and she would run away...
Is there anything I can do about this? I love crayfish so much, but I also feel hesitant to get rid of my tropical fish, as some of them have grown to be pretty big.
Any advice is appreciated!
Now that his limbs have regrown and his shell is hardened he started re decorating his tank.
Making eggs and remembered some folks on here saying they share eggs with their crays, but mine are mixed with oat milk. Is that okay for crayfish to eat? Google is offering me recipes for cooking crayfish with oat milk 😅😅
So I need to drive about 3 and a half hours with a pet crayfish. It’s the electric blue crayfish type. I’ve driven home the same distance with goldfish and a tadpole before and I used APIs Stress Coat in the water and I moved them in a bucket with a portable aerator.
Here’s my question: Can I use the stress coat in the water for a crayfish? Is that safe for it? Do I even need it or should I just do conditioned water with no extra additives?
So we started out a small 15 gallon with a nice cave for clawdia, she seemed pretty happy, was active. We then moved to a 36 gallon, with two of those large imaginarium castle decor items. We added some angel fish and some snails. Water parameters are good and healthy.
She had a bad molt and lost a main claw.
Since then, She is hiding up inside the castle for basically 2 months now, I haven’t actually seen her except her nose tentacle things for so long.
I leave food inside the castle for her, peas, algae wafers.
Any cause for concern? Or is she just vulnerable having lost a claw and needs to grow it back?
No idea if I should be worried since they could simply be the eggs of the worms on him which aren't harmful.
I thought about preserving her, drying her or burying her. What did you do with your precious cray? 😢
shes still alive but it looks like he has ptsd or something since we put her back in the tank. shes been super scared and has been hiding away from everyone and looks like she's dead sometimes
so my mama just recently molted and it kept getting sucked into the filter so i had to take it out. i left some pieces of the molt and dropped a few of my dead mystery snail shells in there. is there anything else i should do? will the shells be fine? should i buy cuttlebones to be safe?

Found her just sitting like this after her first molt with me.
So we adopted one of the crayfish that my daughter had in class a few weeks ago. Other students have as well. The other students said the ones they have had already passed. Our just melted, and it had ne wondering, If the others just thought there cray was dead, when it really was just molting. But just a little funny that one by one all these kids are going down but ours is still thriving.
i found a couple of babies today as i was cleaning the tank and moving mom to a new tank w her babies. any tips would be appreciated. im a first time mom 😂
Temporary 10 gallon aquarium with both a sponge and over hang filter, bubbler, and heater (just in case). I plan to add a few more plants and hides and move him out when grows into at least a 20 gallon or bigger by the end of the year. There’s also leaves floating on the top, I hope they can submerge to the bottom and settle for extra cover or what not.
Are they doing the do????
