Can anybody recommend a tin mine which looks the part and is lit at night? Ideally in rural rather than urban landscape :)
Hi, wondering if someone can help my search for the perfect beach.
Next year I’m getting married near St Austell, and we are planning to invite our friends and family to join us for a beach day the next day to nurse hangovers and make the most of the journey down.
I’m looking for a beach that ticks off all of the below if possible.
I should also mention that this will be in June.
I was looking at par sands as a potential option but saw there were reports of sewage. Should this be a concern?
Thanks in advance!
I'm coming down to visit my dad & staying at Camborne Premier Inn. Is there any plant based / vegan cafes or a decent pizza delivery ( or local in Camborne so I can pick it up ) thanks in advance
Looking for the best long running routes, flatter the better!!!
Already done the camel trail. Many thanks
Hello coming to Newquay at the weekend. Leaving 6:30pm Friday from south west London (Shepherd’s Bush).
Wondered if there was a recommended route. Google maps suggesting either A303 / A350 (shortest route 254miles) or the M4/M5 via Bristol is 276miles. Any advice on the smoothest and quickest route. Hoping the roads will be a bit quieter at night and hopefully miss the London work traffic leaving at 6:30pm
Any recommendations greatly appreciated.
I'm taking a trip to St Austell next week and was hoping to spend a little time looking for minerals around one of the many clay pits. I have never done it before so I've been spending a lot of time searching where it may be possible and Gunheath China Clay Pit comes up quite often as a place where people have been quite successful.
Problem is, I cannot figure out where there is any public access to that area. I've roamed around on street view and I can only see access to drilling sites. Otherwise I have my eye on Great Wheal Prosper China Stone Quarry.
Am I being too ambitious? If so, is there a different location that would be more suitable?
Hello,
My plan is to stay in Newquay for a couple days and then travel to St Ives for a two day stay. Would you recommend taking a bus from Newquay to St Ives or a train? (I'll be travelling with small luggage so will need a bus like National Express buses to accommodate it. ) Thanks!
Dear good Redditors of Cornwall,
My wife and I loved Cornwall so much when we visited in 2022 that we chose a Cornish name - Morwenna - for our newborn daughter. While researching the name’s meaning, I came across a few different definitions but wanted to ask if anybody with expertise could confirm? I’ve pasted the Wikipedia entry below.
Per the Wikipedia entry: [Morwenna] is thought to be cognate with Welsh morwyn "maiden",[1] although the first name is also used in Wales and Brittany and said to be composed of "Mor" and "Gwenn", meaning "White sea" in both Welsh and Breton.
So essentially this would be translated into English as “white-sea maiden” correct?
Thank you for your time and help!
Love, Proud Parent of Morwenna
Went for a surf Friday morning and then this happened...

Don't know how it comes across in the video, but it was somewhere between totally surreal and James Bond. Apparently the RIB was carrying 300 kilos of cocaine. My 30 seconds of research suggests this is worth about £25m.
I did try to flog the story and photos to some news organisations, but absolutely no interest. Obviously this kind of thing happens everyday....
Hi! So I’m looking to change my lifestyle a little and I want to start with buying local, and supporting small businesses. Does anyone have any recommendations? Clothing mainly but homeware, jewellery and books etc i’m also interested in :)
I have tried to google and use social media etc but I’m not getting much luck! Thank you:)
Pretty much as title suggests, if anyone knows anything about Falmouth// Truro rugby respectively - i'm not very good and don't want to join if they're super serious!. Would also love to know of any running groups people could reccomend?
Hi all, Does anyone know what time the bikes usually get to Beacon for the Jennings run? Not sure if its a set time or they just arrive as and when. Cheers!
Pub well known or not?
Most of my social group are married off with kids so actually hanging out on the regular is hard going.
St Austell/Newquay based.
M32, gym lover, outdoors lover, game lover, literally everything to be fair, just looking to expand my social circle a bit.
Afternoon all, I’ve got a big bag of dry dog food that I don’t need anymore. I appreciate not everyone would be willing to risk accepting an open bag of dog food but it seems a shame to just throw it away? I live in Camborne area but work in Hayle, don’t mind dropping it to somebody who needs it if they’re not far away
Edit: my dog is still alive, he just can’t eat this particular food. It wasn’t very clear from the original post 😬
