    Week Ahead: 2-24-2020

Another week another chance of moving forward with the Article V Convention movement. I've narrowed down states that have existing resolutions with the potential for actions to take place and not listing every single action that each state could take this week. Think of it as the Reddit version of the Meckler email we all received this past week. Also, the list will be alphabetical.

    • KS-HCR 5009 still resides in the general orders (currently 11th on the list) it could be up for a floor vote either this or next week
    • SC-H3125 was sent to the whole Judiciary following last week's hearing, no word on if there will be another hearing or full committee discussion
    • WI-AJR77 has been received by the senate, but Wisconsin is adjourned until late March, so no action will take place for awhile
    • WV-No more committee actions are taking place for the rest of the year, any resolutions passed out of committee will stand for readings and there is no news as to whether a Art.V resolution is among them

Many other states have resolutions in rotation/existence but depending on the state, the resolution could be considered dead. I'd recommend using OpenStates.org to follow or look up such resolutions. It seems though that many legislatures have stalled for the time being as they wrap up 2020 sessions.

    Keeping Eyes & Ears Out!

Awesome job by COS' Mark Mekler in SC for H3125, especially since he was in SD recently for their hearing on the now failed to pass HJR500. Hoping that this hearing will push SC to break the 16th state mark!

    South Dakota Disappointment

It was sad to see the South Dakota House vote no on passing Resolution 5001 a few hours ago, but it just goes to show the confusion of some of those on the political right for some of what this movement is really about and on the bipartisanship that is present in some the states as Democrat representatives were among those that wished to push this measure through. Look to Kansas or South Carolina to be #16 and lets hope SD works to expand the understanding in their own state.

Why do so few people know about the Convention of States?

I never officially knew that this was a thing, although I figured it would be. It wasnt until I watched a Ben Shapiro clip that I learned the specifics of the Convention of States.

Anyway, this article of our constitution is exactly what we need. [Opinion] Especially in regards to enacting term limits to Congress, removing bad eggs, or obviously anything that our government refuses to enact, but most agree on.

I've been trying to think of ways to get this in the minds of the American population, because of the people I have mentioned this too (mostly everyone I interact with) NOT ONE person has known it's a thing.

Any ideas on how to popularize this concept? Is there already an effort for this?
