We are Biblically centered, Christ focused, hold traditional views on scripture.

We are a community of theologically Conservative Christians. The term "conservative" here makes no claim politically whatsoever. This is not a political subreddit.

We are united in our conservative belief that scripture is inspired, literally breathed out by God (2 Tim 3:16), and therefore is trustworthy and true. We believe scripture was penned by men, yet written by the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:21; John 14:26). Other specific values may vary.

Please keep conversation and submission of content friendly and respectful of others with differing opinions than your owns. Of course, no course swearing and no NSFW content.

Morally Superior Women: So We're Angels Now?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDJA5JAenE8&feature=share

I am a 29 year old wife and mom, who made a video on how millennials seem to focus on the sins of men and sweep women's wrongs under the rug. The part that makes this all so tricky is that women have subtle influences with great repercussions. These can either be massively constructive or destructive, depending how the woman plays her hand.

Reigning in this sub and reaffirming its original purpose

First off, let me start off by saying I apologize for not moderating this sub like I should have been. I've let things go the ways this sub was never intended to do and thus the sub has become something different and many "recent" subscribers may be expecting content that they shouldn't be.

This sub was created to be a place to discussion theologically conservative topics. Many people have confused this to mean we are talking about politically conservative topics. Let me make this clear:

#This is not a political sub.

Many of you probably have not looked at the sidebar but we have consistently, always been a non-political sub. We have always encouraged topics pertaining to the belief that all scripture is inspired by God.

If you want to continue to find a place to discuss political topics please see a sub like /r/ChristianPolitics or another one similar.

The following topics are (and have always been) allowed here:

  • Theologically conservative discussions
  • Theologically conservative questions
  • Theologically conservative articles
  • Non-Theological critiques from a theologically conservative POV
  • Critiques of theologically conservative beliefs by non-theologically conservative individuals

Because of the direction this sub has gone (admittedly, partially my fault and the other ex-moderators) I will temporarily be disallowing any politically leaning content for an unknown amount of time. We have in the past allowed political content that directly related to the lives of theologically conservative beliefs but to be fair everything politically leaning will be temporarily cut off.

######If this bothers you or you were here for political Christian content please unsubscribe. This is not the sub you are looking for. I hope you find another subreddit with the content you are looking for.

If you are looking to discuss or post about theologically conservative beliefs or Christian living please continue to make this a sub you visit we are glad to have you here.

Species preservation vs. economic growth: looking for a Conservative Christian perspective

At the time of the flood, didn't God allow almost everyone on earth to die, while saving the Polar Bear and Spotted Owl from extinction? How many infants could have fit into the space allocated to a pair of polar bears in the arc?

Doesn't that mean God cares more about the continued existence of species than he does about people's individual lives (not to mention their financial concerns)?

Or did God once have this perspective and give it up?

Why do Rural Conservative Christians & Liberal Urban Americans Look Invest So Differently...

I'm a Christian Conservative baby boomer living in "rural" America.

While most of my family lives out in the country, I have "progressive" leaning friends and family that live in DC, NYC, and also the west coast...

I've noticed that Liberals & Conservatives not only differ in political views, but also when it comes to investing.

In my town, EVERYONE invests in precious metals. We like "gold you can hold." Gold and silver have held their value for thousands of years, and is an excellent hedge against inflation.

I have been reading up on opening a Gold IRA and researching precious metals companies... I sent this website to my nephew for review:

http://www.fiatflush.com/gold-ira-company-reviews/

He responded with a two page email about why a gold IRA is a bad idea.

It's just interesting to me that my Country Christian Conservative family is so pro-gold and my Liberal Athiest friends would NEVER buy physical gold and silver...

You would think that the benefits of precious metals investing are facts and that political or religious ideology would not play a role.

I guess it's world views shape how we see everything...

Of course, Reddit is mainly younger liberal millennials - so the only responses will probably be anti-gold!

But as I'm researching gold and silver IRA companies, I've really noticed how polarizing this is and thought I'd share!

PS. Buy Gold now that the Market is at an all-time high! When the market crashes - everyone who bought gold now will thank me.

Revisit this post after a market "correction." :)

6 Ancestors of Christ Proven to Have Existed Historically

It's Christmas and Christians will be reading from the genealogy of Christ from the Gospel of Matthew's first chapter. Yet most will not know that 6 ancestors of Jesus, out of the numerous mentioned, have archaeologically been proven to have been actually real people.

Please Google: 50 People from the Bible Archaeologically Proven

The 6 proven ancestors of Jesus are: King David, King Uzziah, King Ahaz, King Hezekiah, King Manasseh and King Jeconiah.

Artifacts such as the Oriental Institute Prism in Chicago and the Taylor Prism in London provide absolute extra-biblical proof of King Hezekiah and Isaiah 37.

Merry Christmas

My Biggest Question

This is an open letter to all of the Christians who support Donald Trump. I imagine there are many here. It is long and I pray that God moves you to read it and give me guidance.

So, even though I didn't vote for him, I support Mr. Trump's legitimacy as our incoming President and I will support him as such.

This is not a lament of "why oh why did Hillary not get elected?" or why "Hillary was a worse choice." This is not a political discussion or an attempt by me to force my personal political beliefs upon you.

It is a true, earnest question that I seek to understand from my brothers and sisters.

And this is certainly not a troll suggesting that Christians who support Mr. Trump are not people of great faith. In virtually all of my experience, I have found them to be truly faithful, living their lives to the extent that they can. I admire those that I know who walk the talk. Indeed, they are a reason that my heart was open to Christ, I finally heard His call to me and came to believe.

For those of you who will accuse me of being some kind of traitor to America, you should probably know this: I spent 14 years as an elite soldier in our nation's military (those of you in the know can tell this by my username.)

While I didn't support him in the election, precisely because of this question, he has been elected as dictated by the Constitution and all of us who served took an oath to Protect and Defend the Constitution of the United States. I have always taken that to be paramount.

So I'll get on with it. My Biggest Question.

I watched virtually all conservative Christians and their leaders support Donald Trump during the General Election. Bible Belt states unanimously went to Mr. Trump.

Toward the end of the campaign, Mr. Trump suggested that the IRS audited him so frequently because he is such a "strong Christian." This boast has zero evidence to support it. Nor can I find anywhere that this statement, like so many others, can be supported by the sources we believe to be holy.

There is a concept among the faithful and one that I most admire about those who live by it. It is called "Walking the Talk."

As a former secular thinker, lifetime student of the Bible, and recent Believer, I must conclude that Donald Trump has shown me no evidence of Walking the Talk.

My observation is not derived from some political perspective or liberal opinion. Instead, it is my analysis of his on-the-record words and deeds as compared to the words of God.

These are my thoughts when I look at the Ten Commandments.

" I am the Lord your God."

This is a personal belief and there's no real way to know what is in his heart.

However, there are no references in any of his properties or his businesses that I can find that would remotely refer to God as the owner or even give a nod to Him. There are multitudinous portraits of himself throughout his properties.

I have neither seen nor heard any evidence that he humbles himself enough to acknowledge that there is any other reason for his life and success than his own efforts, not even the efforts of those around him. I have never heard him say the word "we" when referring to his success.

His hotels do provide a Gideon Bible in the rooms.

"Thou Shall Bring No False Idols Before Me."

I don't see how this is applicable here.

"Do Not Take The Name of the Lord in Vain."

Please excuse the profanity, but they are direct quotes from Mr. Trump that I have seen and heard him say. I write them because they are the his words.

I find it impossible to believe that a man who will say "Fuck" "Hell" and "Shit" at his public rallies has not used the words "God Damn." I know I did before I became a Believer.

Of course, everyone is forgiven their sins when they come to Christ. However, he says these things in the same rallies where he professes to be a Believer.

"Remember the Sabbath and Keep it Holy."

Christ himself healed people and preached on the Sabbath (which enraged the Pharisees and was one of their arguments that he should be killed.) In the gospels He showed me that there is a new interpretation of this. Perhaps the message is to do good works and praise Him during the Sabbath.

Of course Mr. Trump says he works every day of the week, which I clearly observed during his campaign. Something for which I admire him.

"Honor Thy Father and Mother."

Mr. Trump has consistently declared that everything he has done is because of him. In fact, he says that he turned his father's "little business" into an empire all on his own.

He acknowledges that his father gave him a "small" loan to get started, despite all of the evidence that his father's support was in excess of $10 million. I have made $10 million. Nobody ever told me that was "small."

There was nothing "small" about the elder Trump's business. He was a hugely successful and prolific developer in Manhattan and its environs, admired and respected by businessmen, ordinary people and politicians alike. Admittedly, Mr. Trump's empire is much bigger and he is much more influential.

Although I have not read every book, article and tweet he has ever made, I have read and heard a lot. I have never found a reference that honors or thanks his father in public about giving him the foundation of his business, his education, his love, his support or anything else.

I have never heard him talk about his mother at all.

"Thou Shall Not Kill/Murder."

I'm not accusing, or even alluding to, him of committing any murders.

However, As POTUS, he quite literally holds the lives of billions of people in his hands.

In his public statements he has often said: "I he will 'bomb the shit out of them" when referring to nations that may cross him.

His book "Art of the Deal" quotes him as saying if someone causes him harm, even perceived harm or slights, that he "repays them ten times over." He says in his book that this is a key tenet for "real" success."

The Old Testament concept of an eye for an eye seems to me to be construed by Mr. Trump as "ten eyes for an eye." To me, it pays no heed to Christ's message of hope and forgiveness. I do not see how Mr. Trump's words and behavior remotely resemble these teachings.

He has repeatedly stated in public that he will bring back torture both inside and outside of the country. The Republican controlled Congress published a 6,000 page report (if you can believe it, it had a 535 page Executive Summary) that there is no evidence that torture is effective, nor does it provide actionable or reliable intelligence. It is to my shame that I know this personally.

When confronted with the evidence, he said he still supports it because "they deserve it." It is my experience that men often die when tortured.

While there are valid, biblical reasons for people to kill other people and for people to order this. To me, David is the prime example of this. It is not to be undertaken lightly.

Indeed, the credo of true warriors throughout the ages, (and like most of the men I have served with) is that: "We fight for those who cannot." As a warrior myself, I absolutely believe this to be our responsibility.

I have not heard Mr. Trump commit himself to this concept.

"Thou Shall Not Commit Adultery"

There is simply too much evidence to believe that he has not made this a mainstay throughout his life. Indeed, he has bragged publicly that he thinks adultery to be the right of powerful men. These are his words, memorialized in the public record, not the reports of the media.

"Thou Shall Not Steal."

Mr. Trump actually brags that he steals from people who have trusted him because he can.

Whether it's the illegal aliens he employs on his construction projects and refuses to pay or the small businesses that have suffered greatly because he refuses to pay them; he taunts them with "sue me" as his answer, knowing full well that these people can't afford to fight him and that he will never have to pay them. When he is sued, I find evidence that he eventually settles or loses altogether.

Although more difficult to feel sorry for by many, those investors and bankers that have directly invested or lent him literally billions of dollars have often lost everything, billions of dollars of wealth lost based upon his representations and actions.

He has actually bragged about "getting out of Atlantic City at the right time," boasting that he made hundreds of millions of dollars while leaving those people who trusted him with their treasure to lose huge amounts because they trusted him to act in their best interests.

"Thou Shall Not Bear False Witness Against Your Neighbor."

"Hillary had more affairs than Bill" or one that he said just yesterday "There were millions of illegal votes cast against me." even though none of these claims (and many others) have been backed up with even the slightest evidence.

"I'm worth more than $10 Billion." Reputable and knowledgeable publications pin it at less than $3.5 Billion. That's still an enormous amount, so why lie about it?

"Thou Shall Not Covet Your Neighbor's Wife or Anything That Belongs to Your Neighbor."

His reported offer to pay an adult film star $10,000 to sleep with him, even though she was married, seems to fit here.

To say that he has not coveted others' property is to simply ignore his own accounts of his business practices.

My understandng here is that he does not have to actually act on them. He only has to "covet" them.

By my count, that is at least five direct violations of these most basic tenets of our faith.

As I understand it, Christ's teachings are that Forgiveness, Mercy, Generosity, Love, Devotion to God, Humility, Unity and Service are key components of "Walking the Talk."

Based upon much he has said and done, even after his profession of faith, leads me to believe that he is not walking in Christ.

Clearly, Christ says that anyone can be redeemed and forgiven, despite his/her sins. In fact, he says the only path to salvation is through Him. He further says that we must repent, ask for forgiveness and devote our lives to Him. I do not see these qualities in Mr. Trump's behavior.

To me, Mr. Trump surely fits the description of the "Fallen Man" based upon his own actions and words throughout his life. Perhaps he has been saved during his campaign and his transition, but I have not seen evidence of this. In fact, I have seen the opposite as recently as yesterday.

He has repeatedly said that the "liberal media," including the "Wall Street Journal," which is most certainly not liberal, reports nothing but lies about him.

My daughter is a journalist. The first rule of ethics that has been pounded into her since her first class is to be objective, report all sides of a story and do not insert your opinion into the story (admittedly, many journalists failed in this last one and continue to do so).

However all reputable journalists at least try to follow these tenets or they will be shunned by their community. Even those reputable reporters who work for outlets that have an editorial slant (either way) they at least try to perform by these ethical rules.

Mr. Trump's rhetoric continues to be divisive and has resulted in an outbreak of hate crimes and a sharp increase of intolerant bullying in our schools across the country, even our elementary schools.. Many minorities have voiced a real fear that they will be victims of Hate. I do not believe that these are the results of the behaviors of a man who is devoted to Unity, Tolerance or Peace.

Although ALL of the media gave him, his words, his policy statements an unequalled amount of airtime that was completely lopsided. When they challenged his surrogates at the Republican Convention with the simple statement that "Feelings aren't facts," suddenly they were unfair, lying and out to get him. The rhetoric has only gotten worse since then. This, in my opinion, is not an attempt to unify or forgive; something that I believe is a major component of Christ's direction to us.

He repeatedly points out individual journalists during his rallies that he thinks are lying about him, often making it unsafe for him/her to even be there. He did this again just two days ago.

I do not see how these words and actions support that the man is Walking the Talk.

As far as I know, Vanity is not a biblically supported trait. When Mr. Trump met with journalists from the New York Times, he made a statement that he wanted to pass to all media. "Don't publish photos of me that show my double chin." I have never heard a more vain statement.

His appointments and actions since elected have shown no effort to conform to the biblical concept of "Unity" or "Acceptance." These are not my opinions, they are not my feelings. They are simply facts as they are found on the record. How are they consistent with the words spoken straight from the teachings that more than 2 Billion practicing Christians believe, including me?

So, I must ask the Christians who support Mr. Trump how they can put a man that so clearly does not "Walk the Talk," as recently as yesterday, in the most powerful secular leadership position the world has ever known?

How do Mr. Trump's actions and words throughout his life make his testimony that he is a "strong Christian" not an affront to the principles of the core of our beliefs?

It shakes me that such a massive majority of Christians have overlooked the fact that this man's actions would, like Saul's, be found to be evil and ungodly by the same Christ his followers and Paul himself, that they believe in. I have been taught that it was only once the scales fell from his eyes that Saul became Paul, the most influential of the Apostles and the "rock" of the church.

Perhaps Mr. Trump will walk in the steps of Paul. But I see no evidence that the scales have fallen from his eyes. It would be a simple matter for even me, a novice, to test his statement of being such a "Strong Christian." I would just ask him these four simple questions:

What book of the Bible recounts the Christmas Story in detail?

Who is his Pastor?

Does he tithe?

What church does he attend?

The answers are simple to verify. The biblically correct answers would tell me that he is indeed Walking the Talk.

I have no knowledge of any Christian, nor have I heard in the mainstream media, nor the "Alt Right," nor any Christian leader ask him these simple questions.

I am a young Believer in Christ. I am certainly not a Biblical scholar. However, I simply cannot find a biblical foundation to accept this apparently fallen and unrepentant man as a man of faith.

Certainly I stumble in my walk, but I do recognize them and pray for forgiveness and I do my best not to repeat them.

To me, his assertion that he is any kind of Christian is disingenuous at best.

So I must ask my brothers and sisters how they balance such obvious contradictions in his lifetime and current behaviors and words with a man who seems to fit the biblical definition of a disbeliever and deceiver as I understand it.

If you read through all of this, thank you. I very much look forward to your guidance.

i am turning 22 in 6 minutes, alone in a rail station but grateful

Sure, I am freezing here and I haven't slept today, the gluten I ate today is going to give me a breakout tomorrow on a face that already looks like a war theatre and wasted a lot if money on nonsense sice I had to pay some things today. It's easy to fall into negatives But this year I found something I never thought I would, my soulmate, as I asked God gifted me with someone both if His liking and on mine liking I developed a friendship this year, even thought we are quite different is been years since I had a friend who actually respected me and more found bits to admire. I was bullied and treated like trash by both parents and school colleagues so this was a huge step for me. I'm a lot more in control of my diet than I ever used to be. And I want to thank God for giving me these blessings.
