So it dawned on me yesterday at my local vintage arcade/bar that the goons in the Simpsons arcade game look suspiciously similar to a certain former Late Nite host. The game came out in 1991 when he was on staff with The Simpsons but well before the late night show so it's probably nothing, but it made me happy to womp his big fat Irish head.
Full disclosure - I'm a straight male. But Aaron Bleyart is a catch. Here are my reasons why:
He's not afraid of commitment. Bley's been working with Conan right out of college to today. Assuming he graduated college at 22 and knowing he's around 45 now, he's been committed to working at the same job for over 23 years. #committed
He is loved by his mother. Evidence? His mom bought him a Rolex for his 40th birthday. And the fact that his mother loves him must mean he's good to his mother. Men who treat their mother right treat their partners right as well. #mommasboy
He's great at taking a joke. No matter what Conan throws at him (paper balls, jokes, comments about his loudness, literal slaps to the back from Conan), he can take it. He's got tough skin. #notapussy
He's a gamer. Enough said. I could listen to this grey-haired fox talk about video games all day. And you know what they say about gamers and their hands right? #goodwiththeirhands
He's not materialistic. Despite him having a Rolex, he usually wears kooky watches, Macy's suits (when asked to wear a suit), and simple clothes like t-shirts and jeans.
He's a tall drink of water. Ever see him standing next to Conan? We know Conan's 6'4, so Bley must be around 6'2-6'3. Big man. He could pick me up anytime. #bighands
How is this man still single?!
Just recently watched sugar and spice (2001) with all the conan references. i know he's brought up being mentioned in crazy stupid love before but was curious if anyone has knowledge of him addressing this movie? lol. would be funny cause his thing about crazy stupid love was why did they consider him a hall pass but this one definitely goes past that...
From left to right: Tomorry the Ostrich, Mickey Rooney, and a sad Belgian woman.
I have no idea why that video title makes me giggle so much, maybe cause Team Coco are overdoing it here?
It's like they are overcompensating - "Hey on social media, folks say they really only care bout the Consie and the relaxed people being frenemies!"
Can't wait for next weeks episode, the title of the first youtube snippet will prolly be "Conan sneezes off camera (featuring McCartney, Madonna, Cher and Jagger)"
Conan’s most recent podcast had me going on a deep dive. This dude is just so funny.
Then in his later years he goes on a director binge where he ends up developing and directing one of the best shows ever created for television.
I'm watching that Saturday Night Live movie and I've seen Lorne has been on Marc Maron's podcast and the David Spade one but why not Conan.....
Didn't realize til now - that was HIM!
TL;lDR - Has anyone gone to the Mark Twain Prize night and the Kennedy Center in DC, and what was it like, and was it worth it?
I'm considering it as a once in a lifetime event for a dude that has been part of my life almost daily since 1993.
Yes, I know it is crazy privilege to even consider the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to spend $1,500 a ticket to not have a clue where my seats are?
I figure the cavalcade of stars should be pretty wild, and to be part of something that special might be enjoyable. In purchasing tickets, it doesn't seem you pick seats, but I am not sure I got far enough in the purchase process, and then flinched.
I know I can watch later, but there's something very special laughing together with like minded strangers in a theatre. =)
So has anyone gone to the event of the Mark Twain prize, what's it like, and is it worth it? FWIW my inlaws live across the street in the Watergate so it's a brilliantly simple eve, at least.
Or any of you for sure going? Have any of you been to one of the events? I would love to know more.
These hypothetical testing scores in my textbook have me heated. Not only is Fallon top 3, but Kathie Lee ahead of Conan?!
This is real. Photo from @zartonkmedia.
I’ve been on a British Taskmaster tear as of late and I realized that Conan is closest American to Greg Davies’s vibe. They both are masters of making their annoyance and consternation the joke.
Now, I don’t think I would make a Team Coco member the task giver. Andy, Sona and Gormly are not people I would consider “sticklers for the rules.” Jordan comes extremely close but, in all honesty, he’s a little too real for tv, if that makes sense. Instead, I would bring in Brendon Lee Mulligan from Dropout fame. He knows how to make being a rule stickler into comedy and I wouldn’t doubt he could actually write some solid tasks.
Finally, Weird Al Yankovic needs to be one of the first contestants. He is extremely famous, funny, clever and the exact level of celebrity for the show. Love or hate my idea, I still recommend watching Taskmaster. It’s all on YouTube and is a great time.
Is there a YT video where all the f uped thing did to his family member's especially justin A compilation if you will.
