With the MA5K shown the newest community showcase and it being a SMG is there a role it could play in Competitive Halo?
Semi-scuffed setup. Would like to replace the laptop with a really nice gaming desktop at some point, but can’t afford it right now (b/c tuition). Maybe I’ll work more over the summer to afford one, idk.
What do you guys play on (and what rank are you)?
This ism0k3dop369 dude legit started flying non stop soloing the casual snipers match on Halo 3. If you check his gt from the game you can see has 8 mins of playing, he played like 10 matches and has got already 280 kills. I don't care that "there will always be cheaters" because they are killing our favourite hobbies.
Scum like this shouldn't be allowed to touch any game ever again, not even singleplayer ones They should be publicly shunned online, with a big red "I CHEAT" sign on their name.
They should not be able to experience fun in their lives. Which already likely happens, otherwise they wouldn't be ruining others fun with this bs.
here's his gamertag, he only has this game and created the account like one hour prior to this match. https://xboxgamertag.com/search/ism0k3Dop369

Just started happening recently. I'll start a gun battle. Click to scope or shoot. Suddenly my cursor appears and the game isn't accepting any of my inputs.
Tried restarting game. Restarting PC. Different mice. Verified files. Does it on all of them. Only thing that worked was updating my drivers, but that was only temporary as it's started doing it again.
Any ideas?
There is still a very dedicated group of MNK Halo players like myself who have been playing since day 1 on MNK. It would be so sick if the HCS events had an MNK side tournament, whether it's 4v4, 2v2, FFA, or 1v1 to see who are the best MNK players in the world. I know there would be people that would come out to the LAN's for this. I bet you could get at least 16 players at each event.
Check the forgehub tournaments out, there’s been well over 10 good maps presented and pros play in them. My suggestion is Guillotine.
I also like the symmetrical High Ground but we’d need more asymmetrical maps before another ctf one at this point.
I know the irony of what i’m going to say but hear me out!
I’m a D3-D4 on my account.. my friend gave me his account so I can rank him up to diamond.. he was a Plat 3 and man I swear to god platinum lobbies are a lot harder.. my 2 reasons for this are:
Obviously skill level.. everyone is doing whatever they want and running and dying..
smurfs are rampant.. most smurf accounts are platinum… There’s always a kid or 2 going 30K and 12D.. carrying.. making it really hard to solo Q..
call it skill issue but it didn’t use to be like that when I was ranking up a few seasons ago.. now i get place D1 and is not as hard..
hear me out.. what do you think?
Does anyone know roughly when rosters will Be announced from top teams? How long before the season started last year did teams take to announce?
I'm sure I've seen the words "God Squad" more in the last couple of weeks than my entire life. Whether you prefer God Squad, Dream Team, Supe Troupe -
What do you think would be the ultimate team of current Halo Infinite players? Is there any group of 4 (bonus points if you want to throw in the coach) that absolutely would not lose to any other team? Or are all the top players to close for such a thing to exist?
Here is just a small sample of the difference switching to HDMI override has made for me on the series X. This game actually feels like Halo again. I also got in the same match a perfect four shot with the BR without even zooming in all the way across the map which for me pretty much never happened with the battle rifle on this game. I am actually stoked to play again.
I saw Shyway video saying it does but after trying it out it seems H2A scoreboard doesn't hold crouch same way H5 scoreboard did.
And can you delay spring jump (scoreboard or not) by loading the spring, moving after landing "loading jump" and then executing the spring after some time? Not familiar with the trick since didn't play H5.
instead of the winning spartans standing around after the game like gay boys, imagine that PLUS the losing spartans are on the ground right below them, ready to take it all! the losing spartans can press B to beg for mercy so the winning spartan doesn't tbag him, or press X to beg the winning spartan to tbag him harder if they're into that sort of thing. meanwhile, the winning spartan can decide to help the losing spartan up, bro hug it out, say good game, shake hands, beta shit like that. or of course tbag like the alphas they are!!! don't worry, this session would only last about 10 seconds to reflect how long the average halo player would last if they ever had sex with a woman.
edit: sad to see so many still in denial that this game has issues- just because YOU don't experience the issues doesn't mean others have the same experience...
ChatGPT prompt: is it possible for halo's deterministic reprediction netcode to cause variable input latency
ChatGPT response:
Yes, Halo Infinite's deterministic re-prediction netcode can contribute to variable input latency under certain conditions. Here’s how:
Halo Infinite’s deterministic re-prediction system, while designed to ensure accuracy and fair outcomes, can contribute to variable input latency when network issues or server discrepancies arise. The complexity of maintaining consistent state synchronization is what makes the input latency feel inconsistent for some players.

Halo is my favorite game by a long shot- nothing comes close- however I've been in large part unable to play competitively (at the level I know I can play at) due to heavy aim/variable input latency in halo infinite. I know it's not a 'me' thing or a 'skill issue' because my aim feels noticeably better when I go play bots offline- my ability to aim is just so much better offline.
Does anyone have any ideas on what could help? I've spent years trying to combat this issue (beginning with halo 5)- I have more ore less the best (in terms of low input latency/response time):
monitor
tuned (for low input latency) pc
fiber internet
controller (~2ms input latency)
I know there are many other players who have simply given up but there are probably others like me who continue to play and struggle through this mess of a game- I was just curious if there have been any findings as to what else can help.
The worst part is that it's sometime so subtle that you start head casing thinking that you're just not playing well but I know that it's because the input latency is affecting my ability to aim/move etc- what's crazy is that it sometimes changes mid-game, usually starts off great then by mid game feels noticeably worse.
For context I've reached as high as onyx 1700 in ranked arena in the past but these days struggle to get out of diamond 6 most of the time due to how bad the input latency feels from game to game.
Someone mentioned in a post "Who could beat their former selves"
It made me realize that this dude Formal's skill has not only NOT deteriorated but HAS GOTTEN BETTER. He is STILL improving!
I know he definitely had the slow slide off of his COD peak but I posit that it wasn't his skill that deteriorated but his passion and will to improve and succeed. Hell he says it all the time in his podcast appearances-- he was more focused on vibes and having fun.
He is playing at such an absurdly high level right now on Halo -- and he has slowly and systematically improved ever since Infinite dropped. Dude is so goated.
Saw snakebite with the ssg skins on in mm👀
Yo! Wanted to share two topics I've covered recently with you all. The first is on ego & the second covers how to do your own VOD review. I think I only have one more broad topic to cover and that'll be a wrap from me on skill development.
Links to the content in case you don't want to read them together. You'll need to use the links for vod review for the video.
Ego is a topic I’ve wanted to cover for a while because, like many of the other topics I’ve covered, it’s both important and misunderstood.
When you hear the word ego, if you’re like me, you associate it with undesirable behavior & character traits.
That’s probably why it’s so hard for many of us to accept that our egos are impacting our ability to win.
I want to reframe how we think about it, and I want to do that by sharing my relationship with my own ego.
I’ll break it down into two parts, leading to two pitfalls.
Part 1: Believing in yourself
For me, my ego isn’t so much about thinking that I’m the best player to pick up the sticks. It’s not that I think I’m better than you, better than her, or better than him.
It’s the faith I have in myself to make the play. The belief that I’m going to hit my shots. It’s what makes me push sandbags to A with the S7 instead of my bandit. It’s the reason I continue to challenge, even when I’m down shots. I’m simply not going to miss it.
Believing in yourself isn’t bad, and I hope you all already do, but this is the first pitfall.
Those shots that I was going to hit? I missed one. I got a blank. I’m dead and they have numbers.
That push with sipe? I missed and turned it over.
That challenge? They didn’t miss.
See where I’m going with this? Having belief in yourself can lead to making the wrong play. Do this enough, or at the wrong moment, and you lose. Your team loses.
Part 2: Playing the way you want to play
We all play Halo for different reasons, and we play in our own unique ways. But fundamentally, we all want to win. It feels good. It’s rewarding. It’s validating.
But is it just about winning?
For me, it isn’t. It’s how I win. If you’ve followed me for a bit, you’ve probably heard me say: challenge because you’re better, hold forward, force the 1v1s, etc.
While it’s usually a joke, it reflects how I like to play and how I like to win. This is the second pitfall.
Unfortunately, playing how you want to play isn’t playing winning Halo, and while it might work in some games, it’ll lose you others.
Playing to win is playing intelligently. It’s putting your ego aside and sacrificing those small hits of dopamine for the W.
It’s correcting the mistakes I mentioned above. It’s leaving a fight, putting away the sniper, and choosing not to rechallenge.
You need to believe winning is more important than how you win and it’s something I struggle with every time I pick up my controller. It’s something I need to change if I actually want to be better.
If you’ve read this far, that’s a wrap for the real talk portion, but I’d regret it if I didn’t share the toxic side of my ego.
When I play, I don’t just want to win, I want to make you regret queuing. I want to instill the fear of god into you when you see me on the map.
I want you to throw your head back when you die and I want that little voice in your head to say “he’s better”, because I am

I've been playing terrible Halo lately and decided to use it as an opportunity to put together another overdue piece of content: a VOD Review Tutorial.
VOD review is one of, if not the best, ways to improve your gameplay and it's actually pretty easy to do.
I'll cover a decent amount in the video but three things that I think are important to share:
"What is a coach going to tell you that you won't be able to tell yourself?"
While I think this undervalues the experience of coaches, the broader statement is true.
You have the ability to watch your gameplay and identify things you could have done better.
You'll watch me do that here.
I missed this in the video, but keeping a pen and pad next to you, and recording what you did wrong, will help you internalize the feedback.
You can uplevel this by writing your most frequent issue(s) on a sticky note and putting it on your monitor.
While I'd consider myself good at Halo, I still have a lot of room for growth. My (your) ideal play may not actually be the right play, but that's not the goal.
The goal is to make better plays, and you probably haven't exhausted the opportunities you can identify on your own.
If you feel like you're hitting a wall for improvement, coaching is a great next step.
Anyways, this is a long one and I hope you enjoy watching me play terrible Halo.
I've been watching a lot of clips for Infinite on YT, so lately the algorithm has been recommending more of them to me. Recently, I've picked up some of the Frosty Clips from H5 and old Formal Clips from other games.
My question for you all is this:
Out of the currently active players, who do you think could beat their past selves? Has the skill ceiling only gotten higher for everyone? Or have some players gone downhill as they've aged?
Is it not possible to get a Quigley with the Shock Rifle? Both kills show as a head shot, but there was no Quigley/ Chain Reaction medals or lightning symbol in the kill feed.
I’m mid-diamond in Arena and usually hit around 60-65% accuracy, but most of that is midrange.
When someone runs up on me, I lose most fights. And if someone has a good strafe, I’m lucky if I land 2 shots before I’m dead.
It’s to the point where I do a whole lot better in close range fights with a BR.
I know it’s a skill issue, but I’m looking for practical tips aside from “left stick aim” — for whatever reason, that tip isn’t working for my smooth brain.
Upon reflection, I feel like I’m much softer on the right stick with the BR but there’s just something about the Bandit that isn’t clicking with me.
Is there a custom games drill I could run to improve close range Bandit accuracy? How did y’all figure it out?

Got a suggestion which Shyway was a fan of. I’ll keep it brief bc there’s not much to it and Hydra’s a rare sight in the competitive playlists:
Enable “grenade jumps” via a bit of knockback. We’d have to be careful so as not to break its balance against enemies. Its knockback could be like the Concussion Rifle, but perhaps it would be better only taking effect when aimed at your own feet, explicitly introduced for these “grenade jumps.”
People were hyped for grenade jumps but they never took off—blasting your shields off generally isn’t the best idea. But Hydra deals far less damage than a grenade, especially with its tracking mode engaged, so would be more practical.
