Sunday, April 7th, 2024 Devotional from Sally Gabriel

Jonah 2:7 “When my soul fainted within me I remembered the Lord: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple.”

Has your soul ever fainted within? Have you ever felt helpless in a situation? I know I have many times. Jonah felt that way and turned to the Lord. God heard his prayer and restored him. He has done the same for me.

God has given me peace in the midst of trouble. He has shown me his compassion and his strength. He has given me courage to be patient and wait for his deliverance. He has given me insight as to what path I need to take. He has made a way out for me when the darkness was swallowing me up.

Today I will worship him as I continue to trust him with the ups and downs of this earthly life. Today, I will eat the bread and drink the wine as I remember his sacrifice on the cross.

Today I will shout alleluia as I celebrate his resurrection. He lives and because he lives I can face tomorrow. Because he lives in me, I know I’m never alone. He gives me everything I need just when I need it.

He offers you the same assurance. He knows your heart. He hears your prayers. He answers, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28) Go to him. Trust him. He loves you!

🙏Father, thank you for loving me and hearing my prayers. Thank you for living in me and giving me the strength and courage to move forward in your light. As I prepare to partake of the bread and wine today, forgive me of my wayward acts and guide me in your way everlasting. I praise you in the name of your resurrected son. Amen 🙏

#TAKE TIME TO READ GOD’S WORD BEFORE YOU SLEEP:

The God that created you knows all that you need in life. Due to our impatience, we have made decisions that will delayed the manifestation of God's promises in our lives. Jesus told us in the book of Matthew 6:26 that: the fowls of the air sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet God feeds and cares for them. Are you not much better than they? You are His son or daughter that carries His image. It is His responsibilities to care for you and provide your needs. Trust Him for everything. My prayer for you this night is that as you trust Him, your needs will be met in Jesus' Name I pray. Amen.

April 6, 2024 Devotional from Sally Gabriel

1 John 3:16 “Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.”

Christians are called to love everyone. Jesus talked about the importance of love. He said it starts by loving God with all our hearts, soul, and mind. In other words, love is a choice. The more we love God, the more capable we are to love our neighbor, which Jesus said comes next. Again, it’s a choice.

Love is sacrificial. Love acts. Jesus didn’t just talk about love, he lived it in word and in action. Jesus showed you that He loves you by dying for you.

So does Jesus want us to give our lives for others? Perhaps. Many people have. We honor our vets who gave their lives for us. There have been others who were martyred and still other heroes who have sacrificed their lives to save someone. But it isn’t what everyone is called to do.

We are all called to live a sacrificial life by helping others. There are many ways to do that. “But whoever has the world’s goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him? (1 John 3:17

John points out the greater to the lesser. The greater is laying down your life, as in physically dying for another. If you’re willing to do that, then you should also be willing to do the lesser thing, like sharing your material possession with the poor.

That’s what “laying down your life” looks like in everyday situations. If you see a brother in need, you should love him by sharing your material possession with him. You should not shut up your heart against him, but love him through concrete actions. Laying down your life is sacrificial. Sharing your material possessions, your time, your emotions, your acceptance, your listening ear, your loving advice, your witness of God in your life, with people in need. Needs come in many forms, physical, emotional, spiritual, …. Ask God how you can help meet those needs.

The greater involves sacrificing your life. The lesser involves sacrificing the luxuries of life to meet someone’s necessities of life. If that sounds challenging, it should. John didn’t say loving is easy. But it is necessary for Christian maturity. Don’t shut your heart to that message! Do you love God? If so, then love others.

🙏Father, thank you for loving me and placing your love in me that I might love others. Thank you for your sacrifice given in love for each of us. Where ere your Spirit leads today, help me be fully awake and ready to respond in love. Grant me courage to step out in faith to do and be a blessing of your love and peace through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.🙏

#TAKE TIME TO READ GOD’S WORD BEFORE YOU SLEEP:

When was the last time you stood in gap for your loved ones in prayer? This was what Job was doing for his children (Job 1:5). He was always praying for them even before and after they sin. What about his friends that abandoned him when he was afflicted? He prayed also for them and God restored all that he had lost (Job 42:10). Maybe all that is needed for God to restore to you all the good things you have lost is for you to intercede for people that have hurt you, say sorry to people even when you are right and forgive.

April 5, 2024 Devotional from Sally Gabriel

Jonah 2:1-2 “Then Jonah prayed unto the Lord his God out of the fish's belly, And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the Lord, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.” You have probably never been in the belly of a fish, but I know times I’ve felt that I was being swallowed by life and all the problems that were weighing upon me. There have been times that I thought there was no possible way out of this situation with any sense of hope or happiness. Add to that the fact that I often felt responsible for what I was suffering. I made choices that put me where I was. That’s what happened to Jonah. God told Jonah to go one way and Jonah said no. He headed in the opposite direction. In so doing, Jonah actually put other people’s lives in danger. Sometimes we think, it’s my life and I’ll do as I please. Unfortunately, our choices almost always affect other people and most often, it affects those closest to us. Think of a feather pillow that is ripped open. The feathers easily are carried to and fro. We may try to pick them all back up and put them inside the pillow, but the chance of finding every feather is slim. Our choices affect others and even after we repent and turn our lives around, the scars of our choices remain. Does that mean we have to live with guilt? NO WAY!! Satan wants you to think that way. God wants you to learn from your mistakes, and move forward. God’s forgiveness is complete and once you repent and turn back to God, He blesses you to have joy, hope, and peace. He also blesses you to bless others. That’s what God did for Jonah. He heard Jonah pray. He answered his prayer and he blessed Jonah to be a blessing to others. God hears your prayers, too. The part of Jonah’s prayer that amazes me is found in verse 9, “But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving;” In the midst of the worse moment of his life, Jonah praised God. Let that be a lesson to each of us. No matter what circumstances we find surrounding us, we need to always praise God. 🙏Father God, thank you for loving me and always hearing my prayers, long, short, hurried, or frantic. You always hear me and you know my heart. May I never neglect to praise you in all circumstances of life. You are awesome and worthy of my praise. I may not always understand the reasons behind what is happening, but I love and trust you. I offer my praise in the name of Jesus. Amen. 🙏

#TAKE TIME TO READ GOD’S WORD BEFORE YOU SLEEP:

Sometimes, we must be persistent for us to get to our destinations in life. So many people in the Bible that Jesus healed were persistence. When people tried to drive some of them away, they kept on coming to Jesus. Some of them were shouting (Matthew 9:27; 15:22) after Jesus even when He ignored them. Some had to brake the roof of another men to receive what they needed. How desperate are you to receive from God? God might say "No" just to see the level of your faith and how desperate you really are. Desperation plus faith in the word of God always bring results. My prayer for you this night is that you will remain persistent in life and never give up in Jesus' Name I pray. Amen

April 4th, 2024 Devotional by Sally Gabriel

Psalm 139:23-24 “Search me, O God, and know my heart, try me, and know my thoughts, and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way, everlasting.”

Those words were spoken by David who loved God very much. But if you know very much about David, then you know he was a sinner. I couldn’t believe some of the terrible things I read about him. But the thing I remember most is that even in his sin, he loved God. When he realized how he had sinned, he was immediately ready and anxious to repent. He worked to restore his relationship with his Heavenly Father.

It all boils down to our attitude. Above all, David wanted his thoughts and his ways to be acceptable to God. When they weren’t, he wasn’t happy. His joy and happiness came from a right relationship with his Heavenly Father.

I know all too well how guilt can rob you of peace and happiness. Feeling guilty is a real downer. It keeps you from having the joy that God wants you to have. God knows your heart and wants to bless you with all things good.

When I pray and ask God to search my heart and know my thoughts, it’s really a way of saying I want to be right with God. I want him to cleanse me of anything that stands in the way of a right relationship with Him.

When I pray the Lord’s Prayer, I know He would never “lead” me to be tempted. I pray “Suffer me not to be led into temptation.” I ask him to deliver me from evil. As I pray this Psalm now, it seems to fit with the Lord’s Prayer that I prayed earlier this morning. “Search me, O God, and know my heart, try me, and know my thoughts, and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way, everlasting.”

He doesn’t need to search your heart for himself. You need to search your heart with God. Then, you will find that right relationship with Him. You will find renewal that will bring you peace, hope, and joy.

🙏Father, thank you for loving me and knowing my heart. Thank you for your forgiveness and fresh starts. Thank you for the continual guidance of your Holy Spirit in your ways everlasting. I want to have a right attitude and a right relationship with you. This I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen 🙏

#TAKE TIME TO READ GOD’S WORD BEFORE YOU SLEEP:

Why does fear always like to take the place of faith? Faith ends where worry begins, and worry ends where faith begins. The two have a lot in common. They both believe that what you cannot see will happen. Most of our fears can be traced back to a fear of man, tomorrow, demons, etc. Psalms 27:1 says: the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom then shall I be afraid? If you can't help your worrying, remember that your worrying can't help you either. Learn to conquer your fear by the faith of Christ. My prayer for you this night is that you will embrace faith and dump fear in Jesus' Name I pray, Amen.

What Jesus didn't do...

He didn't talk about air quality, or rights for LBGTQIA+, nor that women should have equal rights, nor that the races of men were equal. He didn't talk about soil quality. He did say "Care for the widows and orphans" which First World governments do to a large extant, but what Third World countries do not do at all. Is the CoC taking care of widows and orphans in Third World Countries? Answer: no. CoC doesn't even have enough money to operate CoC and pay pensions to its full-time employees who retire, which is why it had to sell the Kirkland Temple, and will eventually sell the Temple of Peace and Auditorium as well.
