I LOVED it. Really love the fact that it focuses on the police force who also deals with psychos and super villains. Anyone know any more books like it? Or at the very least, what comes after Gotham central if anything?
Peter of course, maybe Kurt too if they can help it. But man, those two got the juice especially with their posthuman grandpa revamp of Vulture.
I want to display them in such a way that they are easy to get, read and see. I think it’s a shame to stuff them in a box. I considered a spinning rack and I eventually want to get one but they are surprisingly hard to find where I live and I’m on a relatively tight budget. Does anybody have suggestions?
Been out of comics for awhile, but I loved the Vertigo lines when I was back reading more.
I’ve kept up with Saga, but what else would y’all suggest for current series that have the Vertigo kind of feel?
Hey guys title pretty much somes it up. If there is a better sub for buy comics books and this isnt allowed if you could point me in the correct direction that would be great
Captain N style you get zapped into Superhero Land, but not as the protagonist, as a supporting character. The superhero's friend or lover who might get killed off when the creators want to raise the stakes.
Which comic would you want to land in for best chances of survival? Not Daredevil I'm guessing.
I read this back in the 2010s and I don't think it had been out that long so released around 2000-2015 would be my guess. It's about a guy coming back to the city he worked or grew up in after he had gone off to a far away place to learn the mysterious ways of being able to wield a cat like an assassins multitool. At the time the author hadn't really released much else other then some Adult comics. It has kind of a futuristic vibe to it I believe. Any advice on where I could find this or places I can use online to look for it would be greatly appreciated.
That he can revive the unbeatable squirrel girl and write the graphic adaptation of Slaughterhouse-Five while staying so low profile - - it's pretty amazing
I usually read on a tablet but I’ve recently started collecting single issues and compendiums.
I have no issue putting my bigger books on a book shelf but my single issues just look funny trying to stand up between the bigger books.
Any recommendations on a decent storage container?

For me what the last days of the marvel universe was the road for secret wars. Because I was like, OK, how seriously are they taking this? I was sixteen at the time, and I didn't know how far comics would go. I mean, at DC I was used to the multiverse collapsing into itself. But here had been the fear of death, The ultimate end of everything. And I believe that, as I think, I really would like to imagine the death of the universe from now on.
And you?
So I’ve never read Hellboy before, but it’s a book I’ve always wanted to try.
I have found the full omnibus set of Hellboy books at a good price (£90), but have just seen a reading list which is INSANE.
How important are the Short Stories and BPRD books to the overall story? Are they must reads if I want to understand what’s happened?
I'm in love with this comic. Seriously, it's about a tough guy Hitman who operates around the Irish neighborhood in Gotham City. Guy has a moral code and only kills 'bad guys' and wears badass Terminator shades.
Hello
I asked yesterday what comic I should read as an absolute noobie in the genre and after searching for a long time I came across war of kings. Can i read the omnibus without any prior knowledge? Or what stories do i have to read before this?
Hey I’ve heard this comic praised greatly in this sub, and have slightly odd questions regarding it:
I’m Iraqi and I don’t have patience for an apologists approach to the invasion nor do I have patience for a self pitying “we did wrong and we feel bad” approach either. I don’t feel like being told how I’m backwards and savage either.
These will piss me off greatly and I’d rather not waste my time if thats the inevitable outcome of me reading it.
I know this sounds ‘weak’ but I’d rather spend my limited comic time and money budget on things that won’t irritate me.
Movies tend to be a little more 'realistic' than their comic book origins, but I was wondering why that's the case. In theory we could do anything with CGI. I guess in live action some things look silly, but why is that the case? And MCU movies do get pretty silly - Rocket Racoon and Groot, for example. But somehow that's accepted as fine in the same universe as Iron Man 1.
Hey just a self introduction first, I'm not a regular comic book reader; the last time I read comics consistently was just prior to Secret Wars. But the new Ultimate marvel reboot peaked my interest, with new canon, new lore and one of my favourite villains "The Maker".
I was predominantly interested in Ultimate X-Men as I was never really into them and reading an interview with Peach Momoko, with her new approach being based more off horror and folk lore; really hooked me. Now unfortunately I'm left extremely disappointed, the pacing of the story is without a shadow of a doubt one of the slowest I've ever experienced. The lack of text compared to other comics and the decompression is damn right criminal, but the ideas that are in these 2 issues makes me want to see where Peach takes them. Sadly Ultimate Spider Man has much more text in the first issue than 2 issues of Ultimate X-Men, and in 2 issues of Ultimate Black Panther the plot has greatly moved forward unlike Ultimate X-Men. The art style isn't to everyone's liking but I adore it as its something different and not commonly seen in comics, I also feel like Ultimate X-Men are the only ones with stand out variant covers; where as some of them like the Peach variants should have been the main covers.
Ultimate Spider Man is well, "amazing". Plenty of dialog, humour and great art.
Ultimate Black Panther on the other hand shocked me, Issue one was just a rehash of the Black Panther film with slight variations of characters. I was hesitant on getting issue 2 as the whole reason why I want to read the Ultimate line was for new and different takes. Well Bryan Edward Hill must have sensed my disappointment and slapped me with issue 2, absolutely incredible. I like political elements in some stories and I got that along with spectacular action panels. I wanted things to be different and Ultimate Black Panther issue 2 delivered, I cant wait to see where the stories goes.
The way I see things going, and I'm no betting man (had really bad luck with gambling) but I am adamantly confident Ultimate X-Men will either be the first Ultimate line to be cancelled or have a change of writer. I think personally Peach Momoko has bitten off more than she can chew, her ideas are great and fascinating; but her execution just isn't where it needs to be.
What are your thoughts on Ultimate Marvel 2024?
Among the spiderman fans, the clone saga is infamous, but why is that? Why do people hate the Clone Saga?
