Read all of Citrus a few days ago, and the more I think about the final 3 volumes the more irritated I get. This might be a bit rant, but I gotta get my thoughts out somehow, so bear with me.
Yuzu needs better people in her life, desperately. Beginning of volume 8, Mei clearly knows something about her potential arranged marriage, but doesn't say anything to Yuzu (the look on her face and reaction when Yuzu says she'll be more on top of her school work the following year). Okay, typical Mei having trouble with talking about her feelings and all that.
The trip to the villa is where I start to kinda lose patience with everyone involved. Matsuri, who we've seen to be anything but a passive character, finds out about Mei basically jerking Yuzu around for an extended period of time and gets so mad that she... doesn't tell Yuzu about it? Himeko and Suzuran happening to be talking about things in the hall instead of their room is kind of an annoying plot contrivance, but drama gotta drama.
Then there's the montage of scenes overlayed with Mei's letter. All these characters clearly see something is going on with Yuzu, but over a span of several months, not a single one of them sits her down to actually talk about it? Clearly she needed to talk, because Nina and Sara rock up and get her to open up with barely any effort. Harumi's explanation to Matsuri as to why she doesn't try to get Yuzu to talk about it is really weak. "It's BECAUSE she's my best friend". What the heck does that mean? Seems like a Fairweather friend to me. Ume is even worse since she sees Yuzu everyday and apparently just grimaces when Yuzu goes to her room? Her own mother doesn't even try to talk to her?
And Mei... Jesus, that letter was just extra cold and unnecessary. Says that keeping quiet was for Yuzu's own benefit, but then the very next line says Mei couldn't handle it. And to tell Ume but ask her to keep quiet about it? And the contents of the letter itself seems pretty selfish and meanspirited in hindsight, given the situation. Like, just a simple "I'm getting married to fulfill my own dreams, sorry" type of thing would have sufficed, instead of phrasing everything in a way that would naturally prevent Yuzu from truly moving on. Maybe she deep down did want Yuzu to come to her "rescue" again, or was just testing Yuzu's feelings like during volume 3, but... holy cow.
Tl;dr, the final volume or 2 (especially 9) makes me really feel like Yuzu needs a much better support system in her life.
Sorry for the rant, and I'm sure someone can explain things that I'm not seeing, but as I said, just needed to kinda get my thoughts out.

What volume so Yuzu and Mei officially get together and become a happy and healthy couple and whatnot?
Basically the title of this post! Can you share the series you're watching or reading, please?
I'm reading:
Watching on GagaooLala:
X/Twitter had been suspended in Brazil for about a month because of legal issues (hate speech, fake news, lack of a legal representative) , and it was one of the places I used to read about yuri/GL series, but I don't think I'm going back there.
I feel like reading it but truly cannot be bothered to see if it goes any further because of how many things I'm reading at the moment already
I'm sorry for the wait XD. It changed a little bit, and the fic is now a crossover with "I Can't Say No to the Lonely Girl," which is a manga very similar to Citrus in treating self-discovery and the themes of power dynamics and consent.
Anyway, without further due https://archiveofourown.org/works/59405926/chapters/151499707
I hope you enjoy

and will cast out into the world of love that.
I was looking all over the internet for Volume 6. It was mention, but it was not confirm. I am so happy. When I saw the cover yesterday. I wish someone could had mention sooner. So, yeah! I am whine with joy. I wondered how many fans are out there thinking like me.
Any fans....please stand up and whine with me.
I just finished binging the anime in 2 sittings(8 episodes first sitting, the rest in the second) and I now have 2 questions, where does it finish off in the manga/LN and which one should I read now, the Manga or the Light Novel? Also.. My emotions! 😭
I started reading Citrus in 2017, when the work was already reaching its climax, specifically at the end of the summer vacation arc. I can confidently say that Citrus introduced me to Yuri manga literature. It hooked me with its plot peaks and the intense emotions that Saburouta used to set the narrative pace. When it came to an end, I remember feeling a void. The thought that crossed my mind was, "I wish they would release a spin-off where we could learn more about Yuzu & Mei after they managed to overcome those obstacles, as well as the secondary characters who accompanied our protagonists."
As a reader, I had a nagging feeling. While Citrus had done a good job utilizing the main couple for the story, there were characters with interesting subplots that hadn't been thoroughly explored. I particularly highlight Harumin, Matsuri, and Himeko, individuals who play an important role in the protagonists' lives but beyond that, we didn't get to see them in a more focused role on their stories.
Now, with the announcement of C+ and what the new chapters indicated, that possibility opened up. We began to see more depth in these characters:
- How the frienship between Himeko and Mei had evolved.
- The exploration of Harumi and Matsuri's lives, parts of their personalities that even Yuzu was unaware of, which they began to discover and reveal to each other.
- How Yuzu and Mei were preparing to transition to university.
- The latent sexual tension between the main couple.
it was surprising how Saburouta handled these themes and how they progressed organically, all up until the chapter "July 19," which belongs to volume 3 of C+. after there, the story began a narrative decline, following a notable pattern:
- Inconsistency in publication periods.
- Introduction of characters that add subplots which do not contribute anything substantial to the story.
- Themes that werent included in the initial narrative and dont add significance to the work.
- Stagnation of the main relationship.
- Open subplots without development.
- Loss of intensity in the story.
Personally, I struggle to understand the reason for this decline, but it has affected the quality of the story. Discussing the development of a periodically published manga is complex; it involves not only the author but also the publisher, sales behavior, and a long list of other factors. We may never know the exact cause, but what I can affirm is that a spin-off with great potential has turned into a collection of extra stories that do not follow a narrative thread. Sure, we already know the ending: Yuzu and Mei achieve happiness, but I reiterate that C+ had the potential to expand the world of "Citrus," and unfortunately, it hasn't been utilized so far. Perhaps with a bit of daring in the classic "Citrus" style, they can revive that opportunity and open an interesting arc similar to the summer arc where "Citrus" reached its climax. However, at this point, I don't have many expectations.
If I can highlight something, it’s that Saburouta's art remains one of the best I've seen in anime and manga: an unmatched aesthetic superiority. But well, I hold on to the best times of this story and wait to see how C+ will end.
This isnt a malicious critique, I'm just a follower of this story who perhaps had higher expectations. I have a lot of affection for this work, and thanks to Saburouta and “Comic Yurihime” for giving us the opportunity to have Citrus. Greetings to my fellow readers!
P.S. I apologize for my English.
