What will Circa Survive's legacy be?

In the grand scheme of things we're still not all that far off from the band ending, but given that it's been a couple years now, what will Circa Survive's legacy ultimately be? They have influenced so much in the post hardcore scene, but I have always felt like they had so much more going for them than to just be remembered by the post-hardcore community. I have always felt like they deserved to be appreciated on a way larger scale, even if it definitely wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea. The idea of their memory fading way into obscurity would be pretty unacceptable to me.

Things I thought would last forever

Does anyone else feel like there are a few callbacks to Circa Survive lyrics in this song off the new LS Dunes album?

I kept hearing things that sounded very similar to parts of CS songs and this part of the bridge really hit me:

"Who am I Who will lie Who am I without?"

Idk, it could be coincidence but figured I'd ask. Feel free to tell me to take off my tinfoil hat lmao

My three year old son loves Circa

My three year old son and I jam to Circa all the time and he loves it. He loves Anthony Green and his other projects too. We both just jump up and down and nod our heads and vibe to the music. It brings me so much immense joy. Thank you to AG and all the Circa crew for bringing so much joy to my life and now my son ❤️

Has anyone else ever noticed the musical similarities between Holding Someone's Hair Back and Child of the Desert?

The opening strums of the two songs as well as the general riff structure (barring the differences in their intervals) of the lead guitars have felt oddly similar to me for a while and I don't know if this was an intentional choice on the part of the band, a coincidence or if I am totally off base.

Unfortunately since noticing these similarities, I've had trouble not seeing CotD as a weaker version of HSHB, since the songwriting is more structured and a little less frantic-sounding on Decensus than on Juturna.

    Two Dreams Rollout

Has the band ever explicitly talked about the release process of Two Dreams? I just implicitly assumed that it was written as a full LP but split into the two EPs as a result of the pandemic throwing everything for a loop. I just didn't know if they have specified anywhere that one full album was the original intention.

If so, do you think that the tracklist would have remained the same had the choice to split them never happened? It flows well in general, obviously Buzzhenge was probably always going to be the closer, but I wonder if we got Two Dreams as a full LP release from the start if they would have ordered them differently.

Violent Waves is still my favourite Circa Album 13 years later

I got introduced to Circa Survive a few days after Violent Waves came out in in 2012, just as I moved into residence for university and was going through one of the roughest times of my life. On first listen I was perplexed, mainly because I never heard anything like that before but I was instantly hooked.

Even after seeing Circa 5 times since, having the camp safe tattoo and going through their albums countless times, Violent Waves still remains my favourite Circa album from a musical standpoint. Despite what I think of the production, the songs hit so hard, the musicality is on point, and Anthony almost has a soothing airiness to his voice throughout most of the album.

Also, "Sharp Practice" is in my top three songs ever, it's just riles you up!

Circa Survive - Premonition of the Hex (Guitar and Bass Cover)

This was my first attempt at learning a Circa song by ear. I've loved this song since I first heard it and I've wanted to learn it for some time. I don't have tabs but would probably do a tutorial if there was enough interest. Thank you to anyone that checks it out.

Two Dreams is an underrated masterpiece

I only listened to Two Dreams, The Amulet and On Letting Go and Two Dreams is standing out tbh.

Any reason it is so hated beside the different musical approach? I swear literally every song is 10/10.

    P.S: The Amulet is a 10/10 too

What was is like to be a Circa fan around the release of the first two albums?

I grew up listening Anthony Green’s stuff starting when I was in the womb. My mom would always be playing Circa, Saosin, or his solo stuff in the car or at home so I have huge nostalgia for a lot of it. I was born a few months before Juturna and I often forget that Circa isn’t just a personal experience. Yesterday I heard my friend, who I recently got into my music taste, humming a song off Juturna. I was genuinely surprised, not only cuz he knew the song but because I used to do the same in my car seat as a kid.

So I was thinking today what it would’ve been like to be a fan of Circa (or Anthony’s stuff in general) around that time. Anyone have any stories or tales from a couple decades ago?

(Also, don’t get me wrong. I’m not a super genius on Circa facts and stuff like that. The extent to my knowledge is the gig in Ace’s basement and release of the albums)

Do you remember the very first moment you listened to Circa?

It was 2006 and I was in 8th grade. I was getting ready for school one morning and I left the TV loudly playing either MTV or Fuse (Fuse was the shiiiiiit during this time btw) playing loud so I could listen as the music videos played. Act Appalled came on and omg...I was so entranced by how ethereal Anthony's voice was that after I finished watching the video I was hooked on Circa Survive ever since.

I saw them once live during Warped Tour 07 and haven't been able to catch them live again after that 😔

    Indra's Net Live?

Does anyone know of any live sets where they perform Indra's Net? I have been looking and can't find any. Even on the Amulet tour videos, or even the show I went to, they never played it.
