As some of your have seen my setup this year, I've got a pretty good assortment of buildings. But what i am truly wanting to add are real store buildings.
I've currently have the Home Depot from 2023 and 2024. i just wanna know what else is out there... I've tried goggling, but o must be searching by the wrong keywords.
Any help would be great!
I only just discovered the Harry Potter village, but I don’t really want to start a collection if pieces are going to keep retiring. Already Ollivanders is gone, so it will already feel like a big piece is missing. Does Department 56 ever redesign and then rerelease these older retired models?
I'm a mama who can't afford Christmas this year for my 3 boys. Is there anywhere I could post there wish lists for Amazon to possibly see if anyone has the heart to help? My mama heart is so broken đź’” Sorry I'm new here and unsure if I'm posting correctly.
I found this for $5 in the Target Dollar Spot, it'll fit perfectly with my Dept 56 Snow Village!!
Hi all I have came into a good sized lot of Christmas Villages. They were my grandparents and I would like to keep a lot of them but I find I have no room. I’m interested and selling most of the lot excluding some special pieces from childhood. I was wondering how I would go about getting these pieces appraised. I would assume there are about 40 or so buildings and a lot vehicles and people all kept in original packaging when not in use.
I do not have the lot yet as its at my dads so I will have to update in about a weeks time with pictures.
Any help is appreciated!
My daughter and I always make a time lapse as we put up our village.
My mom passed down her Dept 56 collection to me several years ago. I remember buying most of these with her as a child, so it gives me a lot of joy to put up my village every year. My set-up is on a set of built-in bookshelves, so I need to have a battery-powered light option. I also need a light solution with a timer, so the lights come on and go off on a regular schedule every day. I have about 15 building.
I know others are in a similar boat -- what's been the best solution others have found? My current solution is battery-operated LED tea lights, which I've used for ~5 years, but I'm only "meh" on these. They aren't very bright, and they don't fit inside my houses, so I have resorted to using painters tape to secure them sideways onto the backs of my buildings, which sometimes works to keep them in place, but not always.
Bought this second hand Charlesville waterfall. I had never heard of this brand nor this waterfall. When I tried it, it was leaking. There was a small crack in the side of the 'rock'. But, nothing what a little hot glue couldn't fix.
It's now working like a charm. Really looking forward to place it in this year's Christmas village.
The villages I see in this sub blow me away. I would love one day to have a village that is on par with some of the ones I see here, but I’m not extremely creative. Any tips would be greatly appreciated, as I have zero experience building Christmas villages. Thank you in advance!
Before I start a collection, I just wanted to know is Lemax still the go to? Does Carole Towne measure up? Is it a good idea to start with 1 or 2 pieces this Christmas season and just add to either during the year or at Christmas time? I wasn’t thinking of doing this until I walked in Lowe’s last night to get some stuff for a home project and saw their Carole Towne display all set up.
I’m trying to find this piece, anyone recognize it or the set it belongs too?
So I spent all day setting up my upstairs village.... Am I'm not thrilled with it. I had such grand/lofty plans and ideas for it and due to time constraints and other issues, I just wanted to get it done. I still have a bunch of pieces I didn't use along with a ton of figurines. I'm pretty sure I have a bunch of trees somewhere so I'd like to see about finding them and adding some in to try and help salvage this.
I'm going to post a video on my YouTube channel so if there's any interest just let me know and I can post the link in the comments.
I think I'm finally done decorating for the holidays and can just sit back and enjoy them now. HAPPY HOLIDAYS and MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!
Hey everyone!
I've been lurking for a bit and finally took the plunge and bought a few buildings and figures. I'm planning to take it slow and slowly pick up pieces but I have a question about storage.
From what I can tell, the consensus seems to be to keep buildings in their original boxes but what about figures? They're more oddly shaped and I was thinking about keeping them in little tins/containers but are they fragile enough to break that way?
Thanks!
