does anyone have any good chinese films recommendations? first of all, i need a very well written one; the writing should be mature, and somewhat original. the acting and cinematography should be excellent as well. the characters should be complex, and multidimensional. romance doesn't have to be the main genre but it would be good if it's one of the biggest aspects. a happy ending is not a must but if it is, it's another plus (just please let me know). i like realistic stories and characters so feel free to recommend anything as such! i'm fine with any genre as long as it's not scary, or doesn't deal too graphically with really heavy themes.

btw, my favorite chinese movie is all these years! so if there's anything similar to it, that would be fantastic!

I’m learning Mandarin and looking for a TV show I can watch which has English subtitles available. I am wanting something contemporary and realistic, I much prefer gritty thrillers over soppy romance. I previously tried Blossoms Shanghai but was unable to find comprehensive English subtitles. Any suggestions would be welcome!

Recently I’ve started learning Mandarin Chinese through my High School and it was recommended to me from my teacher that I should try watching some tv shows to help me learn and practice. Other than children’s shows, I’d like some live-action show recommendations if anyone would be so kind. Hello! Please, help me find this Chinese drama. I can't remember its title. But what I remember is that the main female lead goes to university or college, and she has a boyfriend. On the first day, a famous star (the male lead, I guess) also comes to study there. They are in the assembly hall, and her boyfriend is making a speech (maybe it was his final year). As far as I remember, he promised his girlfriend that he would propose to her on stage that day, so she was waiting for it. However, he didn't do it, which made her very sad. The female lead and the star boy didn't get along well at first, but he felt sorry for her. I think they will end up together in the end.

Hi all! In 2017 a good friend of mine passed away. He once showed me a Chinese TV drama he and his mom were a big fan of and he tried get me invested as well, but because time limitations i only watched a part of it. I'm trying to find it again.

What I remember: There were two girls switched at birth at the hospital. One girl grew up in a well-off family, with a loving mom and dad and very close with her brother (... a bit TOO close with her brother?? Lol). The other girl grew up in an abusive household with a poor and frustrated single mother. So you have a 'rich girl' and a 'poor girl'. The girls were classmates or schoolmates. At some point they figured out they were switched because rich girl's blood type didn't match her parents and they investigated. And after some dramatic decision making the families decided to switch the girls back. (They were allready teens at this point) Now the poor girl is in the good family, and she bullies the previously rich girl at school, I dont remember why, probably just being mean. There was something about stealing a Micky Mouse watch and pinning the blame on previous-rich-girl and making her out to be a thief. At some point, the rich family decide to move away from town to start somewhere fresh. There is a dramatic scene of them driving away through a tunnel and their previously daughter watching them.

Then there's a time skip. Rich family's son is getting married but he never got over losing his previous sister, because they were very close. He even chose his fiance because she had the same philosophy as previous sister. (Something about if you want to be reborn, what would you want to be? And the answer was something like "a tree. So I can put my roots around you and never leave" or something along those lines)

Aaaand that's all I remember. I think I watched this with my late friend somewhere between 2010 and 2015, but it was on dvd so the show could be a lot older. I'd just like to watch the whole thing for once. I still like doing small things to remember my friend, especially if they are fun positive things. So if anyone can help me out, that would be great! Hi guys! Please help me. I came across this short chinese drama clip a few years ago (im not sure if its chinese but it looks like one) i saw it from facebook and i saved the post but now its gone. So i need your help finding that drama please. It was like 15-30 minutes clip.

So basically the plot is its a highschool themed drama clip where there were two bestfriends (one is short haired;like a not so boy cut one and the other one is long haired) so the short haired one had a crush who she started stalking at the bus stop. Fast forward it became her boyfriend but after a while, it turns out that it was the long haired girl's boyfriend. She (long haired one) asked her boyfriend if she really loves her, then she would go out with her bestfriend instead of her because she knows that her bestfriend(short haired) had a crush on his boyfriend. Fast forward again, short haired girl found out about it and she confronted long haired. She then pushed long haired girl and she started bleeding. Long haired girl was actually pregnant and after that i dont remember what happened but i think the end of the clip they didnt speak to each other after the incident.
