I have read that China has warned its soldiers about the dangers of gambling and dating online. They seem to be worried about these activities being used to compromise national security or leak intelligence.
It makes sense on the one hand, as these platforms can serve as havens for state-sponsored espionage or scams.
However, it also calls into question the extent to which a government should have authority over the personal lives of its military personnel.
Given the possible risks, do you believe this rule is appropriate or does it go too far?
English-language resources to stay up-to-date on China's startup scene. Ideally, I'm looking for something like a Morning Brew-style newsletter or a dedicated platform similar to Tech in Asia. I've already checked out Techcrunch and some traditional media outlets, but I'm open to any suggestions. Thanks in advance!
