Anyone have any recommendations for winter gloves for a 20-25 minute commute? Any ideas other than bar mitts? I like lighter more flexible gloves but obviously staying warm is most important

All my family act as if I am going on a one way arctic voyage neve to be seen again. Also that there will be snow days that "will certainly kill me". Its 10 minutes for petes sake.

I have a single speed with road tires, I saw a post about gloves, looking for your favorite layers, anything I should add to my ride for cold weather and most slush. Obviously a fender, what am I not thinking about.

My commute is under 20 mins so want to stay riding as much as possible this year

Halstead between Van Buren and Roosevelt in front of the UIC campus now has the barrier protected bike lane installed. This was a nightmare coming south in the afternoons / early evenings due to cars parking in the lane to drop off students. Let's see how they manage the transition.

I recently got the yamaha ebike and been enjoying it. The only problem is going faster meant I feel more of the impact of the wind. It is louder and weather has only been getting colder. I'm also looking into a full face helmet because I'm averaging 25mph and concern for any accidents.

I was wondering if any of you use full face helmets and if you have any recommendations / concerns. Does it help with wind noise? Does it impair peripheral vision?

Tis the season for pedicab drivers to park in the Dearborn bike lane during the Kris Kringle market. I had a near miss with another cyclist heading south as I was heading north and took this picture after. I’ve written the Alderman for some type of enforcement.

I’m looking for gloves that keep my fingers warm in the below freezing temps but aren’t bulky so I lose my dexterity. Also ones that have a grip. Any recommendations or should I just get a wind guard for my handle bars?

I am thinking Lawrence Ave or Berwyn Ave, just wondering what folks who are familiar with these streets think.

I'm going to be taking Metra UP-NW outbound from either Clybourn or Irving Park on Thursday to go to Thanksgiving dinner, probably on the ~12:40 train. How crowded should I expect it to be? Is there likely to be a "bicycle warning"?

I'm still pretty new to CHI and know next to nothing about Metra, never taken one of theirs before.

Not many days like today left. After some not great interactions with drivers lately, an empty trail feels like a blessing.
