81 Silverado

I recently received this truck from my stepfather before he passed. During a visit home, I mentioned how awesome it was and that next Thanksgiving he was showing me the truck up close and then handed me the keys to drive home.

We didn't know he was sick at the time so I was completely caught off guard by the generous gift. Seeing it in the driveway everyday is a wonderful reminder of the amazing man he was. I'll also never switch it off the country station he had on the radio.

1982 Chevy C10 Vacuum Leak

Does anyone know what line comes here? There’s a line off of the air cleaner I’m not sure where it goes. Trucks idling is a little high and sounds rough when I turn it off

ISO bench seat!

I’m looking for a set of bench seat rails for a 1978 C10. Specifically need the slider rails, mine are broken and will only slide back about half way from the forward position. I’m also fine with aftermarket options if anyone has any advice or links, I would greatly appreciate the help. Thanks!

wire color and AWG breakdown for C10s

Does anyone know if someone in the C10 community, or some commercial entity, has put together and made available to the public, a listing of circuits that call out the gauge, color, and circuit number in a list format (such as a spreadsheet)? sort of a quick ref list.

700R4 downshift question

I have a 700R4 paired up with a SBC 350, 2,300-2,500 TC w/electric lock up. All this in my ‘65 GMC C-15, most everything has been replaced save nuts & bolts here and there. Transmission was rebuilt last year, has worked/shifted great, new TC, can say for the most part I have enjoyed the trans but for the downshifting. If I let off the gas and try to coast the trans will not let go of OD. It will hang in OD and coast at 30mph/950ish rpm never lower. If I press and hold the brake pedal (enough to engage the 2-way brake switch but not enough to fully engage the pads to rotor) it will let go and down shift but quickly shift back to OD soon after I give it gas (toe tap, just off-idle). If I goose it and give it half throttle it builds enough pressure to downshift and stay until a more appropriate shift point. Concern is that the engine lugs like a nut (vacuum will drop to 5-6 and AFR spikes to 17-18) and feels like it will stall. I can obviously goose it to half throttle but I don’t necessarily want to do that especially if traffic is stop and go and cruise is what I need.

Question is if this is a servo thing? Is it adjustable or get another one type of thing? Trans builder put in a “Corvette servo” so other than that I don’t know more about it. I feel like if the down shift point was around 1100 it might be smoother.

Thinking about by a c10

Thinking about buying c10 custom deluxe. Owner says it has no frame rust and some rust spots around the body, but nothing totally rotted out. New exhaust/tail pipe, New distributor, water pump, and spark plugs. He says the clutch is fussy but otherwise starts and runs great. It has rally wheels and new tires. He wants 4k. I'm wanting to use as a work truck. How available are parts? I'm expecting stuff to wear out considering it's age. It won't be a daily driver, but I do some landscaping and tree work on the side and sometimes need a truck to load equipment and wood and such. Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Carrier Bearing Sizing

Well… dug deeper into my noise issues after a recommendation to check into the drive shaft. Jacked up the rear end and still could hear a rubbing noise and clicking while in DRIVE. Turned off the truck and placed it in NEUTRAL and rotated the drive shaft to find the issues in the video.

Which leads me to my questions… stock Carrier Bearings call for 1.3780 interior diameter and all others are 1.574 ID… would this make a difference?

https://www.lmctruck.com/mechanical/drivetrain/cc-1973-87-universal-joints-2-wheel-drive VS… https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/c/precision-center-supports/cv--driveshaft---axle/carrier-bearing/4a5a5f6e7137/precision-center-support-bearing/osb0/6038/v/a/2988/automotive-truck-1986-chevrolet-c10-pickup-rwd?pos=2

Obviously some U-joints need to be greased or replaced too. Any other suggested welcome!

High back vs low back seats? How much space did you lose?

Looking for someone who did high back seats in a C-10. How much leg room did you lose? I would really like to have the head rest in case I get rear-ended. The Qualitex sites recommends low backs for more room. I haven't had any luck quantifying how much space one actually loses with that option.

Well, shit.

I drove the truck to my buddy's house yesterday, and the power steering stopped working. When I got it home, this is what I found. I topped it off and took a look, and it's pouring out the front of the steering box. 52 years was a good run.

Looking for someone for a GFX design for my C10.

I tried to use a program to kinda drop fill the colors, but i am not a GFX artist. I don't mind shooting you a couple dollars. Not looking for a hours-long or more rendering

Just wanting to see what my square would look like with the color scheme I have. I am sure someone here has to do graphics. DM me if you do or know someone who can help.
