The City of Chesapeake Virginia.
Chesapeake is a diverse city with few urban areas as well as many square miles of protected farmland, forests, and wetlands, including a substantial portion of the Great Dismal Swamp. Extending all the way from the rural border with North Carolina to the harbor area of Hampton Roads adjacent to the cities of Norfolk and Portsmouth, Chesapeake is located on the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway and has miles of waterfront industrial, commercial and residential property.

I'm searching for a bookclub with some people my age in it? I'm a 23 year old female. Lover of thrillers and general fiction (with some romance and sci-fi sprinkled in). I know of a few but they all have older adults in them and it's just harder to relate to them in the way I can people my age. If there are none- who wants to make a book club with me? Lol TIA š©µš©µ willing to go to any of the 7 cities!
In light of the recent vote; HERE IS A VIDEO OF TRASH BEING MIXED WITH RECYCLABLES.
https://youtu.be/88prVBRcdBg?si=gH6edsw7cUfJU8sR
About a year ago, I saw the recyclable truck mixing up the different types of recycling, which irritated me. Why was I sorting them if theyāre mixing them all together?
My intention on this day was to be able to share my frustration with my mom, but instead I got them mixing trash into the recyclables.
Iām 24 and work at Amazon. Iāve been looking for a bit now for no experience construction jobs or apprenticeships to get my foot in the door to learn a trade and for a chance to start a career. I have some experience with hand tools and a small bit of training in framing from years ago but havenāt applied it in some time. Can anyone give me any advice or point me on how to start off in the industry? I have a driverās license and car, with no felonies. I do smoke marijuana but will be quitting if it helps any chance. Looking in the Chesapeake/Suffolk areas; preferable pay is $17 and up, but willing to start somewhere.
My ac is having some issues, but iāve been reading some peopleās stories and i donāt want to go $1000 deep and still end up having to get it worked on.
Looking to get my 4 year old daughter back into a gymnastics (or similar program).
Open to gymnastics, tumbling, martial arts, anything like that just looking for a program kid focused with an emphasis on being fun and building confidence and social skills.
I'm new to the area and the time has come to pick a doctor, but I'm a bit overwhelmed by having to not just figure out an entire country's medical system (very different from Canada's), but also pick a practitioner who will suit my needs. I am a woman, so I want someone that will actually listen to my needs, and a practice with staff who are well-equipped to deal with women's issues. I have a chronic health condition that so far has been completely mismanaged by my previous NP, so I am hoping to find someone who I can start over with on figuring out what is going on with that and who will take a methodical approach and treat it seriously, along with any other future unknown issues that may arise, since I've had bad luck in the past with doctors that don't listen, leading to really negative outcomes.
Any recommendations?
My husband, myself, and our infant might be looking to relocate to the Chesapeake area from Denver. We have lived Denver for the past decade, but since becoming parents, we find ourselves wanting to get into a different community that prioritizes families a bit more. We are both in our early 30s and are laid back people. Iām a HS science teacher and my husband works as an operations manager for a small company. Iām quite passionate about being near good schools, one to work at as well as a good schools to start our son in public school when he becomes that age. We have a dog and like to go for walks and eat out, but arenāt big drinkers. We like having friends and going to community events. Our budget for buying a house would be between 375-475k or so. Depends on what we could sell our place here in CO for.
What neighborhoods would be good to check out if we make a trip out there this summer? What neighborhoods would you avoid?
I just got home from voting. I waited in line for 1.5 hours at the Central Library. This is the first time I have ever waited that long here in Chesapeake (8 years). Just wanted to give a heads up. Early voting goes until 4 pm today (Friday) and last day is tomorrow (starts at 9 am though election workers recommend getting there by 8).
Apart from coffee shops, what are some nice spots where you can bring your laptop and get some work done for a few hours? When I need a change of scenery from my home office or backyard, I usually pick a coffee shop, but what are some other ideas for people who work remotely? (Thanks in advance!)
Where are the best neighborhoods for trick or treating in Chesapeake? Any areas where most of the houses participate?
So I havenāt been around to many places yet, just Chesapeake golf club, Honeybee, and Battlefield. But none of them seem to have any drink carts service on the course. I have some friends coming into town to play and I was hoping to find a place that has that. Does anyone know which courses do, or is it like a state alcohol law here that you canāt do that? I know Virginia has way different laws than what Iām used to in California. Open to any courses in the area (VA Beach, Norfolk etc).

Or maybe a whole goose family. Apparently they are hot right now and my yard needs some whimsy. Anywhere to buy a concrete goose locally for not a lot of money?
We just got the call.
Anyone know the setbacks for a small shed 100sqft? I understand it's approval type permit but if the spot we want it won't work not going to even try.
Setbacks off other structure (house) is my concern. If it's 5ft we're golden. Want to build a small shed between house and fence so was jw.
Does anyone know any very pretty areas around the Chesapeake area or Virginia Beach for a proposal. Thanks!
Hi, Iām looking at a house to buy in the neighborhood that Hawthorne drive goes through, what are you guys feelings about it? Is it relatively safe? I am also taking recommendations on affordable neighborhoods in Chesapeake and Virginia Beach (200-300k range). Thanks!
Is there a toys for tots or other group who could use gift tags, boxes, bags etc?
A friend has a kid whoās interested in music. Any recommended music teachers/programs in Chesapeake (or elsewhere in Hampton Roads)? Thank you!
My wife's birthday is coming up and we're new to the area. Recommendations for a place I could get her a manicure and pedicure? Suffolk/Norfolk/Chesapeake/VB all fine.
