where/how can i find better apartments around the charleston area & does anyone recommend any prperties?
my gf and i are finishing college and preparing to move near charleston in july. we are southern WV natives and ideally would prefer an apartment near south ridge or south charleston as we’re not fans of living inner-city. ideally, we’d be looking for a 1b1ba no higher than $900 monthly rent, as we currently pay $1,200 in morgantown.
we unfortunately have found zero luck only finding low-income housing and nightmare rentals. even though we are not immediately moving in, we just need to find where to get started 🥲
Hey everyone! I’m looking to sell my gaming desk to someone from the area (I live on the Nitro/Cross Lanes area). Currently my only option is doing it on Facebook Marketplace, but people are assholes over there. Hence, I wanted to know if you know about any option locally or if you are interested and want it you may just ask me for it, but I want to sell it as soon as possible.
A shot in the dark.
Looking for mom friends. Moved to the area some years ago and it’s hard to make friends.
I’m an elder millennial- age doesn’t matter but we’d relate more if you were too. I’m a type B mom, my kids are young and home school. If you have kids the same age that could be a bonus but not a requirement. I am busy being a mom and it’s nice if you are too and understand. We are very artistic, like music and like to goof off. In the summer we like getting outdoors.
I like to relax with a little medical 🍃 but don’t drink and don’t do none of that crazy stuff people are on these days.
just wanna let y'all know that we're starting an *actual * swordfighting HEMA group (Historical European Martial Arts) called DOA HEMA (Duelists of Appalachia)
swordfighting practice will be starting around March but we wanna put feelers out so people know that there will finally be something fun to do in Charleston besides drink 🤺
You can find us on FB, YouTube and TikTok by search "DOA HEMA" or just go to doahema.com and subscribe for updates (it's bare bones ATM bc I'm currently building the site and setting it up)
But yeah, come make some new stabby friends and get fit while doing it!
Hi!
I am about to graduate from college soon and will be moving to Charleston WV for a job I got. I honestly didn’t imagine myself living here but the $ for the job is decent and something I like doing.
When on the search hunt for an apartment everything just seemed either way too expensive like 900 on lee or just not managed well or the apartments don’t seem to be maintained well. So I am coming to yall , the people who already live in the area to get some insight as I am probably missing some apartment complexes or haven’t seen everything. What do yall recommend?! I’m looking for a one bedroom that isn’t crazy price and kind of just a middle ground. I don’t want anything crazyyy cheap because I mean let’s be honest if it’s crazy cheap it’s most likely cheap for a reason.. Also I can commute so it can be in surrounding areas if needed.
Please let me know ! Thanks yall :)
That's it, just wanted to wish everyone a happy holiday
Who all in the area still does black Friday? Any deals going on up Corridor G?
Hi yall - I'm going to be moving to Charleston in a month or so for work. I'd like to either find a rental for 6 months, or just buy something. Requirements for buying are - not in a flood zone, somewhere safe enough to walk alone around the property, fairly move-in ready. Rental requirements - cheap (since it would be temporary), dog-friendly, safe. Any leads? Any realtors in here who want to jump in and make a commission?
New i. The area and am really wanting to see some Christmas lights after Thanksgiving dinner. Any good areas within the city or surrounding? Thanks for any replies and Happy Thanksgiving!
I used to live down Delaware Ave not far from Dem Two Brothers. I'm going to be coming back to visit some friends after the first of the year and Google says they're temporary closed. Is that true and does anyone know why and for how long?
I’ve been debating on repainting a couple of my rooms different colors. I have no where to start and what to do, yet alone what rollers or paint to use. My friend told me to go either Lowe’s or Home Depot for expertise but didn’t tell me which one. I want to go to someone who knows what they’re talking about so I’m not wasting money.any advice?
I’m excited to be in Charleston this thanksgiving weekend!
Just curious if anyone had an idea what to expect at Sullivan’s records for Record Store Black Friday? Do the lines get long to where I need to go super early?
Hi! I’m in Charleston for 3 days. What’s a must-visit restaurant/ cafe in Charleston? Thanks! 😃
I'll try to keep this brief. A dear friend is going through a very ugly probate fight with her brother. He lives in Ohio and is a two time felon, she lives in the family home their grandparents built in Dunbar. Just by circumstance he ends up being the executor of the whole shebang, both parents died about a year apart and they never probated the first until it was too late. She's a single mother of two boys who need the home they live in. He's trying to fly off the handle and make her sell everything (there are mineral rights, a farm, retirement monies, a huge safe full of firearms and the before mentioned family home) involved.
Bless her heart she's the least confrontationdl person you'd meet and he continues to harass her daily saying he's hired counsel and he's gonna spend all the money on his lawyers and an eviction notice is coming...
I'm out of my depth in a way to help her. And NO LegalaidWV is not going to help her.
Good morning WV 🌅😊
What’s the better choice for a Birthday dinner in Charleston WV? Hale House or Bricks and Barrels. We’ve never tried either.
Anyone know of any places we can go to see improv/comedy show tonight in or near Charleston??
I recently moved to the area and I love thrifting, but haven’t had much luck finding any good thrift stores… Where are the best places to go in this area?
I'm new here and have yet to meet anyone. All my friends are in AZ. As a 30 year old woman, finding friends appears to be a difficult task since, from what I've experienced, women are much harder to come by than men. For the sake of my current relationship, and due to the harsh reality that befriending men while being of the opposite sex is literally a sentence to gross disappointment, I want only to meet likeminded WOMEN. I wanna go out, listen to music, party... But lack people to do that with on the regular. So, if you're a woman and, especially if you love EDM, hmu! Even if you don't like EDM, hmu. We can never have too many friends!!
My partner and I will be stopping in Charleston soon for one evening. I want to get some input from locals on the best restaurants in/near the South Charleston area. (That's what Google maps is calling the area we'll be staying in.) We're looking for excellent food of any type and cocktails. Thank you in advance for any recommendations.
32 year old male, newly single after 13 years and house and life are very empty. Bit of a board game nerd, lots of boards games with no one to play them with now. Relationship kept me very isolated. Looking for anyone to pass time with really but my ideal hope would be to find a girl who shares my gaming interests or is willing to explore it for herself.
Does anyone know anywhere I can find a sugar/pie pumpkin to cook with? All the carving ones that aren't good for cooking anyway are already gone and I cannot find one I can actually slice! Does the Capitol Market or even the farmer's market in Huntington have them?
Hey all, my husband and I are looking to move to Charleston. We’re worried about how clear the roads are kept in the winter, because our work commute would require us to pass through them at like 5am every morning. The area we’re thinking of moving to is mainly steep hills. TIA
I'm just beginning to get into prepping and would love other awake families to share tips with and plan with if shtf.
Is it easy to find local organic/grassfed food? Raw dairy? Family friendly?
Family of 5. Holistic minded. Want friends for our kids. We currently homeschool but looking into montessori.
As the title states, did y'all have a purge or something?!?! Why are there so many abandoned houses here in the heart of the city? Even as I drove away from the city there are still abandoned houses. Why?
