Help with name for gem prince

The character is a prince made out of gemstones, specifically amethyst. He’s vain, sophisticated and bit egotistical, but he cares deeply for nature and animals, being a protector of those who are weaker than him

the best name for a mechanic?

i need a name for a side character that will be a mechanic for the team. I am trying not to go with the typical name and something that has a bit of flair. the character wont always be there through out the story but i want to have a comedic factor that pops in and out while his job is just a simple mechanic.

I’m writing a fanfic about bondi beach and I need name ideas for the two coming children

So it’s about Olivia Ryan Brooks, Harrison Reid, Olivia(Olly)’s adopted son Oliver(Ollie) , and then she’s going to adopt another girl, and then she’ll give birth to a girl, but I don’t adore the two names I have right now, Aevah and Marlowe, so I need some similar to their vibe

Canon Protagonist Names?

Hi, what's up. First post on this. I'm lookin' for a good "canon name" for this human protagonist in a game I'm working on. I'd need a Male and Female name. Preferably not a "common" name, for example, like Jack, Bob, or Herald/Karen, Olivia, or Eva. Absolutely no offense meant to anyone with those names. This character is 27 years old, born in 1999, works for the in-game big company, and is the type of person to keep a katana by their bedside. This protagonist isn't silent, they'll talk a "good amount". Hope this is descriptive enough. Thanks, guys, gals, and non-binary pals.

I'd post an image of this protagonist(s) but I haven't finished the(bad) art for them yet, sorry. Feel free to ask for more description.

Help getting out of name hell?

Hey, so, I'm currently in a ditch where I'm just overthinking which names to pick for my story. My opinion changes on the name i've picked for a character all the time. I've spent alot of time scorching through name lists with meanings, name lists of the nationality of the character, so on so forth. Even the main characters i can have doubts about. It's like their names look dumb or unfitting in my document, and i feel a need to take them out until ive chosen a more fitting name. I'm sure this is very irrational and pointless, but any tips on findinng ways to be content with the names, and kinda realise what really matters with the names you pick? tnx

Idk if this counts, but if anyone can help, I’d love it!

I’m writing a very long story and I just need one thing. A band name. It is just 3 girls in a modern-day singing group, I can give three names if anyone wants. But I desperately need a name. I’ve basically finished the story, I just need a group name. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy, I just need something good that doesn’t already exist irl 😭 Thank you!!!!!

Main character name

I need help with writing a book and the name of the main character Character: The name of a character who was raised by a guard living in the cellars at a young age and was extremely merciless before accepting a young boy as an apprentice, but regained his blunted mercy towards the end of the story and dug a hole, not wanting his apprentice and master to die.

Need a name for a Fantasy Character who plays a flute and is a wanderer and also very freindly and kind.

For context I am planning this spring and summer to do alot of hiking and I also recently in the last month have been learning Occarina(which I am actually not half bad at this point) I have always loved entertaining people and making them smile so I decided to do an Idea I have had for quite sometime.

I am making a character that I will dress up as and go hiking as, I am still putting the outfit together, however the name seems to be the hardest part for me, I have ran a few phrases through google translate in other languages (mostly European languages since I am a white guy) but nothing sounds good enough or its way to hard for people in general to pronounce. As for the characters outfit. I am planning on using a forest green/darkgreen tunic of sorts with a wizard like hat only smaller than the usual wizards hat, cloth pants, a short light weight cape and boots. As for my apperance I am close to 5'6 in height in my late twenties, white skin hazel green eyes and semi dark brown thick curly hair which I usually keep short.

Everything else I have figured out as far as the outfit. However the name alludes me.

I was hoping someone here could help me with that. I am looking preferably for a name that has meaning to it. Something that refers to the characters apperance or the fact that he plays a flute and wanders alot or just the fact that his backstory is shrouded in mystery, I will take any suggestions.

High fantasy male wizard anagram

I need 2 male names, both anagrams of each other, for a book I'm writing. Both characters are wizards, but one of them is an introvert guy who reads scrolls in his mouldy room and the other one is a dark wizard who is trying to destroy the world in the name of a god of darkness. They're both brothers

Name for Hades's champion

Hello, I am writing a story where the greek gods all have chosen a human champion that they share their powers with and can be their vessels if they are ever needed on earth.

My main is the champion of hades, a 19 year old boy who has never really fit in, he was raised by his mother who fled with him when he was a baby to get him away from his evil father.

I just can't come up with a fitting name and surname for him, I hope some of you could help me find the perfect name for him.

Names

I need help naming one of my characters. He's Irish and I want him to have an Irish name, I uncommon names. He's a ranchhand in the 1840s and is the adopted older brother of one of my main characters. He's a gentleman and a hard worker, he's always helping around the ranch when needed. He's outspoken around his brothers and sometimes strangers. He's definitely straight and likes to flirt with ladies of higher statuses than he is. That's how he ended up looking after his son after the woman's father forced her to get rid of her child which he's left to raise and he names after himself.

Name for a female Pirate

Basically what the title says. Of course there’s always Ocean, Rain and Coral but like… that’s kinda lazy lol so if you guys could help me out with that, that would be great! An old money name is cool too but it should mainly give off sea/pirate vibes if that makes sense. If her personality matters: she loves the pirate life and the adventures, however she’s a generally gentle soul and doesn’t always agree with what her family does to get through. She’s kind and fair, also smart.

Thanks!

general techniques for making meaningful names?

Hi, I'm writing a very character-centered sword and sorcery narrative composed of several seemingly unrelated stories that all tie together leading up to the climax, and I find myself struggling with character names.

Most name generators don't give any meaning, they're just random names. Those are fine for minor characters, but for the major characters I'd prefer something more meaningful for various reasons but mostly just because it would make it easier to keep track of them mentally.

I also tried name searches by meaning but they often don't turn up anything I'd want to use and when they do a quick search of the etymology often shows a completely unrelated meaning instead.

I know there's the "translate the meaning to another language and then anglicize that" trick, which I'm using for a few location names, but I'm struggling to get results I'm happy with.

Any other methods?

Name after sports/gym term?

Hey so I have a jock character who wound up with a kid. To signify that he’s a bit self absorbed, and always hitting the gym, I thought it be fun to name the daughter after some gym/sports product or term? Do you know something that could pass somewhat as a name? Maybe not something TOO on the nose, like Gfuel or somethin 😅 thanks

extra note, some e-sport term could work aswell, since he’s a gamer.

Oc name pls help

hi, I love creating characters, creating their story, drawing them, creating an outfit for them, and culture inspires me a lot. For example, I have one named Isidore, after a character in the book Arsène Lupin. I'd like to create a new one, a man in his twenties, but I don't have a first name for him, just his surname: Di Giuseppe. It would be a character with Italian origins who lives in a New York-style city. I've already tried searching for first names, but none of them fit the character (I'm pretty picky). Although I'm aiming for a first name with English or Italian origins, I'm also open to other suggestions. I don't know if this is the best subreddit for this kind of posts, but I would be very grateful if you could help me. (Thanks in advance)

Deciding Between Names.

Been going back and forth for days between names and decided to put it to a poll

Basic information; The story is set in 2010, and the character is 15 years old making him born in 1995. He's German-American but was raised in America by his American father thus why most names on the list have a more American feel.

His half-siblings, who are German-Italian, names are Giovanni and Katharina/Katherine. Other character names in the story are Violetta, Jennifer, and Aiden.

Physical wise; Long curly black hair and blue eyes.

Feel free to suggest similar names, just in case anything else catches my eye, German or American-wise.

Looking For All Of The Unique/Uncommon Names!

New to this sub, so hopefully I get this right!

I'm putting together a list of potential names for current and future characters. I find I've gotten into a habit of recycling name's I really like and I would like to break that habit.

I already have a decent list started but I really wanna keep it going.

I love unique and uncommon names. (Not unique spellings of common names)

I really like name's that have X's, Y's, & Z's in them.

Here are some examples of ones I like/have used already.

Male

  • Axys
  • Ryker
  • Kaysen
  • Thayer
  • Wave
  • Dayzik
  • Decim
  • Thayne
  • Daxton
  • Saxon

Female

  • Wylie
  • Akaysia
  • Morielle
  • Kahlia
  • Kazdeya
  • Lyatt
  • Nahlia
  • Tayven
  • Kayven
  • Vallie

Unisex

  • Lakyn
  • Zayden
  • Lexyn

I have a ton of character's created and there's a few I'm really struggling with finding names that suit them!

I may even end up going back and renaming one's that I've given the same recycled names to.

Anyway, I appreciate anything you guys can give me! TIA!

(P.S. If you guys can add pronounciation guides to the really unique one's that would be greatly appreciated!)
