I'm looking for a pet name (lmao) that means pet in some way? For a character who is treated more like a per than a daughter by the figure they see as a parent. It would be used by the "parent" as a "sweet pet name/nickname," but it should have a more sinister meaning other languages are encouraged <33
I'm trying to write a story and am having the worst time naming the MC. Here are the current options.
Brutus - Heavy; Dull.
Wolfe - Wolf. (Kind of bland.)
Sloane - Raider or Warrior.
Jude - Praised.
Paris/Parris - The Lover; defender of mankind/Ecclesiastical locality.
Maximus - Greatest.
Eros - Love; Desire.
Ondray/Ondrej - Man; Warrior.
Vasileos/Vasilij - Royal; King.
I need last name ideas for Ava and Naomi, I’m thinking of naming a character one of these names but I need last names that go with the names to help with figuring out which one I like better.
Any ideas are welcome
Hello all! I need help with my main character's name. I'm rewriting my story from about four years ago and the name I had just doesn't fit.
I am looking for Scottish (Celtic origin) male names, First or Last names will help.
The original name I have is Emrys, so kinda in that realm.
For Inspo - Robin Hood (stories), Hamlet, Queen Charlotte (series), Bridgerton (series), Vinland (anime)
I need ideas for last names that matches that. Its a girl character that's kinda crazy so I need something that rhymes or match please ty.
I made a clown lawyer. A lawyer who is a clown. They're super goofy and I adore them, but I can't think of good names. Please help
Can't attach photos on here and don't really know how to describe their appearance but they're a clown who's a lawyer and they specialize in goofs and gaffs. A fast talker who is an excellent defense attorney. Always carrying around a comedically sized briefcase that's still overflowing with gimmicky tricks and court papers. Don't be fooled by their silliness, they're a true professional
I have thought about a character who goes from being a war hero to conquering the planet out of pure insanity, and I’m BAD at brainstorming, so I had a question, did anyone have any names for this kind of character? I was thinking of Light Yagami a lot for this, and I thought about “what if Light just went fucking mad(like in the story) but instead of having the death note, he lost that book, and just slaughtered people left and right?” Much like death note this story would be one where the protagonist becomes a a villain, but I was thinking of doing something like Seven Deadly Sins, where there was a sequel where, in this case, he would be the main bad guy. I have thought about using some popular names like “Yogsothoth” but I have no idea. Can anyone help?
In my fantasy novel, there are geographical 'rings' that represent each class in society, all controlled by the monarchy. My protagonists are from some of these rings and I can't settle on a name for any of them -
A girl from the working class (equivalent). She is strong willed and witty, and she always seems to know what she's talking about, and isn't afraid to pick a fight (when she knows she can win). She is often underestimated because she is a woman but quickly proves that wrong and is a hard worker. She spends a lot of her time outside - nature inspired names (earthy). I liked names like Ida and Erin but they didn't exactly fit.
a girl from the nobility class - she has been trained to stay quiet and do what she is told, so she keeps her opinions to herself - she wishes she was able to go outside more and envies the lower classes who spend their days outside, although she doesn't realize the price they pay for her luxury. long, elegant names - i liked astra, angeline and lynette.
the princess of the kingdom - She is a mysterious character who the reader as well as the kingdom don't know very much about. She is quick to correct people if she sees them doing something wrong, or something that she doesn't like. I like names similar to Asteria, Carys and Elowyn.

Looking for background characters to add to a cozy village WIP I've got going.
I'm not going to go into all of the naming conventions of this world, just the basics: No last names, instead they're given a temporary name at birth and they can choose to change their name as the age. They can change their names as many times as they like, but their previous name becomes a middle name. Also names don't really have genders here. Hopefully that makes sense?
This is who I've got so far, thanks in advance guys!
Hi, I am writing a book and I'm stuck on two names for male and female characters. I need some opinions on this.
FMC:
MMC:
Both are to be a couple so the names should complement each other. Looking forward to your opinions <33
Age: The eldest daughter is 4 and the youngest is 1.
Heritage: They are the young daughters of a demigoddess mother and a vampire father.
Appearance: They have heterochromia, with one eye a vivid green and the other a striking orange. Their hair is a mesmerizing mix of light and dark shades, symbolizing their dual heritage. They also have small vampire fangs.
The oldest daughter's abilities manifested early, on her 4th birthday, due to her vampire heritage. She possesses the power of clairvoyant Frost, which allows her to see glimpses of the future. When she uses her ability, the air around her cools, small snowflakes form, and the scent of eggnog fills the air as a delicate layer of ice accompanies her visions.
The youngest daughter's abilities have not yet manifested, but they will emerge on her 4th birthday. She will possess the power of Memory Absorption Frost, allowing her to absorb and recall the memories of others. When she activates her ability, a cold, icy mist surrounds her, and the scent of roasted chestnuts fills the air, creating a visual spectacle of swirling snowflakes.
Vampires in this world do not sustain themselves on human blood but feed on inhuman small creatures and small animals. They are born, not made, with a lineage dating back decades. Vampires are unaffected by sunlight, garlic, holy water, wooden stakes, crosses, and other religious symbols, as well as running water. However, they are weakened by gold, coal, saltwater, moonstone, ancient text, echoes, and enchanted mirrors.
I guess they their last name could be a specific apple species(I’m not really sure). I’m renaming a few characters, from Mlp and give the apple family a name that starts with apple literally. (I mean the human versions)
I'm plotting out a show and could use help with a name to fit in the theme of the characters siblings
the antagonist of the second arc is named Foar Ghettible being a pun/ play on words of forgettable and he has two siblings a sister named unfir Ghettible (unforgettable) and a brother whom i cant think of a good name for.
backstory: the three siblings come from a culture where at a certain point every family sacrifices their weakest child. both unfir and the brother were prodigies and the parents didn't want to sacrifice either child so they had a third, Foar. Foar was born without an eitherite (an organ that allows people to use the main magic system) he was basically born to be killed, his mother father and sister all treated him horribly, the only person who actually cared about him was his brother who would help train him in aura control (another magic system that anyone can use). when the fated day finally came Unfir was the strongest, and Foar barely beat out his brother
any and all help is appreciated
Any Japanese speakers wanna fact check me here? I'm trying to come up with my main character's name that means "Fear Born" I've got Kyosei
Hello. I am looking for northern names. This is for a story, and it Will be set in a northerm country, most likely Finland or norway. It can be any gender.
Hi I'm writing a book and need a lot of Swedish names (or anything for surrounding countries works too) so does anyone have any suggestions? First and last names work!
im making a story and I have a character named celeste (the FMC) and I need her main love interest to have like a RoMaNtic 🌹🌹🌹nickname for her. Any ideas? Cece is what her friends call her and I’m looking for something unique or special
BASICALLY MY UPCOMING OC HAS LIKE HAIR THAT IS BLACK FADING TO BLUE FADING TO WHITE AND SHE HAS A KIMONO ON THATS WHITE BLACK AND PURPLE AND HER LEFT EYE IS A STAR ANF THE RIGHT SIDE OF HER FACE IS RIPPED APART TO REVEAL MULTIPLE EYES INSIDE AND SHE HAS BLACK WINGS ON HER HEAD I JUST MADE THIS FUCKER UP WHEN I WAS MESSING IN CATALOG AVATAR CREATOR IN ROBLOX AAAAAAJDHDJSKDJFKDMDMDMDMF
The story is set today, and he is a guy. I’d like the names to be a bit unique, but not extremely special. I’d like them to be kind of winter/snow-ish.
I really like the idea of naming my character Lethia, due to the meaning of it being ‘oblivion or forgetfulness’. However since the character is quite young (teenage girl) and is working class and quite an informal person in general, i feel like the name is a bit too obscure or whimsical to fit into the story. Id like to give her this name and maybe create a backstory around why she was named something so obscure, however for the main story i’d like her to have a slightly more common or informal sounding nickname. Any thoughts?
I have had this persona character for a really long time and she had had the name Yuki chisuke. The name however no longer fits her as she has just gone through a very big redesign to keep her updated to me. I do however want to turn chisuke into a separate character and name her redesigned self something else. the newer version in an octopus hybrid and so i wanted the name to have something to do with the ocean. the monster part would be becasue she has a "inside out form" that turns her into a horrid looking monster. Im having trouble finding a name that would fit her though.
I've got two sisters in my WIP right now whose names are Persephone and Pandora. They both have neutral but leaning more masculine nicknames, Percy and Andy.
There's also a third sister though, Pasithea, and I just can't find a nickname that fits in with her sisters'. I did kinda like Sid, but I'm concerned that it's a bit of a stretch, also only one syllable.
What do the people here think? (Also trying r/namenerds)
Hello! I came up with this concept a while ago and thought I might as well make a full character out of it but Im horrible at names and can’t think of a good one.
The concept is a mermaid who’s obsessed with the human world and loves learning about them (you now see where this came from) but instead of helping shipwrecked/lost at sea sailors she kidnaps them, drags them down to her grotto, and murders/dissects them to know more about their anatomy. I want her name to relate back to being water related while also being death/murdery if that makes sense? Ive nicknamed her Anti-Ariel but i want a cool name for my murder fish
I'm writing a story where it's the modern world but with a lot more magic, and magic is just widely accepted. A character I'm writing (my favorite character) needs a name! He's a trans demiboy so the name should be modern and kind of androgynous. They have blue-gray moth wings with a bit of purple. I'm really excited to write him, but I don't have any good names. Any help is appreciated!
Update: Last name is Forest if that matters
I really really like giving my characters names with fitting meanings, but I can never find anything good by browsing! All names tend to be very cliche and non-consistent and never fit any of my vibes, any advice??
Right now I'm looking for a girls name for a short tale that means something along the lines of reconnecting, rediscovering, restoring or legacy. Her main point is reconnecting with her ancestry and past to rediscover herself and find answers. I want preferably short names, more eastern/mediterranean vibes. Would also love if it has any connection with nature or roots.
I know its kind of specific, but it doesn't have to cover everything, just fit nicely in the story and give a vague idea of who my mc is. Thanks for helping!!
Edit: I misspelled stuff, Im clumsy on phones
I have two characters for a Keeper of the Lost Cities fanfic. You don't need to have read the books, but I need middle names. Cerelia Jennings Jayden Amartum
Heyy, i am currently developing a fantasy story and looking for a name for the main character and secondary main character. They are both guys, one of them is a wizard(not typical, more this worlds kind) and the other is a knight in training. I’d like them to be a bit celestial and/or Nature theres, but dont have to.
