This is the subreddit home for tabletop gaming around the greater Harrisburg, PA area (anywhere within 45min - 1hour of Harrisburg). Checkout MeetUp.com for the Greater Harrisburg Area Tabletop Gaming events page.
While the name says "Board Gaming", we love all forms of tabletop gaming: board games, card games, war games, miniatures, and RPGs. I would have chosen CentralPATabletopGaming, but that's too many characters for a subreddit title.

Hey PA folks!
I wanted to share with you all a website I created for finding board games for trade in your area. The idea is that you see a list of games and send messages to BGG users who are interested in buying or selling games.
https://localbgtrader.herokuapp.com
I encourage anyone to provide feedback and make suggestions. Thanks!
How it works
I gather all BGG user collections within a radius of a zip code. I display games marked as "For Trade" if searching for sellers. I display games marked as "Wishlist, Want to Buy, Want in Trade" if searching for buyers.
Supplying a username will automatically match games found in your collection with games in your area.
Play N Trade in Camp Hill will be hosting a 24 hour Extra Life gaming marathon to raise money for Penn State Hershey and Children's Miracle Network on November 4th. Stop by, have some fun, and donate if you can. Interested in learning more about Extra Life? Please check out www.extra-life.org. You can learn more about the event at our facebook event page.
I've been holding off on rebranding all the social media outlets for this community, but now that we have a new logo created, it's time to pull the trigger.
I've renamed the Meetup.com, made a new "event" on there that has some information about the new change, and posted a new message on the new subreddit.
New subreddit? To keep everything branded the same and to not exclude other tabletop gamers from our community, we need to transition to a new subreddit.

After a certain amount of time, we'll have a permanent redirect message on this subreddit and stop posting here. If you are a regular poster on here, I suggest making all new posts on the new subreddit.
Are there any upgrades that you really want for your games? Maybe its special tokens, minis, coins or storage... what is your most wanted upgrade?
You know the drill! Let's hear about your gaming for this week; the good, the bad and everything in between!
So there is going to be a game day this Sat. (1/16) at the Carlisle Alliance Church
It is an open event and I believe it is from 1 pm - 6 pm.
I will add more details if they come up. Thanks.
Just as the title says, of your owned games, what have you played the most? What else is high in the counts for you? What is it about these games that has you playing them over and over again?
Lets hear about what you got to the table and what you thought of it!
There seems to be more and more "campaign" based games coming out. I'm talking about games like:
Are you interested in these types of games? How do you coordinate the playing of these games?
When I played Risk Legacy, we had 5 (that includes me) dedicated players that were going to be there for every session. If for some reason a person couldn't make it, we didn't play it. That campaign was one of my all time favorite gaming "events". We had such a great time that we ended up playing a D&D 3.5 campaign (which I'm actually going to tonight).
I uploaded a version of the new logo yesterday, but deleted the thread because we tweaked it just a little bit. Here's the new logo.
Just saw this news blurb about the Asmodee Group acquiring the rights to produce Catan... Thats impressively big news on top of their other recent acquisitions.
That puts them in a strong spot to start messing with the game market... This could mean more marketing, more mass production and hopefully better games... OR it could mean forcing higher prices since they have such a big chunk of the market... Lets hope for the best!
I'm back this month, and I'm offering you all the incredible opportunity to finally live out that Stalin fetish you all secretly harbor!
It's a fun 3-player game. Not a wargame. I'm not sure what it is. It's a boardgame. You'll probably like it. Bonus points if you're willing to play entirely in character. That means a wheelchair for the guy playing FDR.

Just let me know.
Also, BSG. Or any of those awesome Star Wars games that I can't afford, and alternately have no one to play with.
I'm going to try to go to the Wargame thing that Tom is doing on Sat if I can.
With the new year comes all the of "Time to start working on ..."
One of those items for me is the rebranding of the game club. That means we need a new logo. It should be something that encompasses all tabletop gaming. Modern board games, wargames, RPGs, miniatures, classic gaming, & card games. Wil Wheaton's Tabletop series has a neat logo that incorporates different gaming pieces. I've found a few other gaming logos that have neat designs.
I'm just curious, is there anything you'd be interested in learning (game related) this year? Maybe its how to play an 18XX, maybe it's how to paint a mini properly or how to play chess... if there's anything you'd like to learn, don't be embarrassed, let us know and maybe some people here can help each other out!
So as most of you know there is now a Ticket to Ride that has a PA map on one side... have you played it? Any thoughts?
This narrow but long store hit all the high points... super friendly staff who really knew games, a large selection of the current hits and a few copies of each classic... a decent sized kids section, a few tables in the back with a fairly large library... it was clean, had clearly marked restrooms, they were running some sort of Lanterns intro or tournament there when we stopped by and the staff did a great elevator pitch of it. They even had a simple a frame sidewalk sign outside with a visual and a word puzzle on it, inviting people to come in if they could figure out the answers for a prize (a small pack of smarties "for being smart") which was a brilliant way to get people in the door. Prices were fair for brick and mortar, we nearly picked up the newest TtR map but didnt want to lug it around all day. Seriously, this is a game shop done right.
What they don't have: This is not a hobby shop. I saw no minis, paints etc... this isn't a wargamers paradise nor a place focusing on CCGers for the most part.
Some of you hit up all-day gaming in Carlisle, others surely did some family gaming... tell us about what you played and how it went!
Basically feel free to list stuff that you might want to get to the table this month. If you own a game and want to play it mention that. If you do not own a game, but want to play it feel free to mention that (and maybe find someone with the game to play it with). If you want to play a particular game at a particular meetup feel free to x-post it here and on the meetup page/thread for a meetup.
LET'S GET GAMES PLAYED!
So I thought I would start a post to see what kind of reasonable and attainable gaming resolutions people have for 2016 (perhaps more than just playing more games).
Maybe people can check back in throughout the year to track their progress and/or try to help others in the area meet their resolutions.
Alright, we've hit the end of 2015, what was you best game this year? Maybe it was a particular play of a game, maybe it was some new hotness or and old duster... Either way, tell us about your most enjoyed game this year!
Under the tree, in your stocking, on the fifth night, during a holiday party... Whatever the case may be, what games (or gaming related items) did you get this year?
I recently looked back through my recorded plays for 2015 on BGG, and discovered that I played 67 games for the first time this year. Many of these were new releases, but most were just new to me.
I wrote a blog post on BGG ranking these games, including a detailed rundown of my top-ten first-played games of 2015:
How many new games did you folks play in 2015? What were your top ten? Number One game?
I'm curious to know how many of you have participated in true competitive gaming... something where there was a title, prize or invite at stake. If you've played something like this where did you play? What did you play? What was the outcome? Is it like a typical game or was there problems with extra A.P. etc?
Just like the title says, I'm curious to see if people in this group follow particular game designers. Maybe you love Uwe, perhaps you freak out for Friedemann... who hits the most marks for you?
