Utrecht University is the only university on all of the Netherlands where it is currently possible to study Celtic Languages and Culture. However, the university has plans to shut down the Celtic bachelor. This would be a disaster, because Celtic studies in the Netherlands is very important for the field of Celtic studies worldwide.

I've been learning about my Gaelic ancestry and have been embracing the culture and neopaganism and I was wondering it there was face tattoos found amongst the Celtic people outside of the picts. I also wanna learn how they looked and what they meant

For the last few months i've been the proud owner of my first kilt, a tartanista kilt in blackwatch, it is a real kilt as far as a kilt goes, it has the pleats (very deep pleats too, you can bury your hand in them) the straps and the aprons, what not.

Only problem? i don't like how it fits or hangs, it doesn't look at all flattering, if anything it makes me look fat at the top, it has no flare and it doesn't hang straight, especially with a pin, it likes to wrap around my leg from the weight of the pin.

It's also just cut quite poorly.

I'm looking for a relatively cheap kilt available in many tartans, budget i'd say about £60, bonus points if it's made in scotland, that fits and hangs properly, i want a trad, not sure if things like sportkilts appeal to me.

I’m very curious about Celtic traditions related to paganism, connection to nature, universal energy, and the traditions that the Celtic people have used, perhaps so far as what would be called magic. Example, the pagan wheel and sabbats. I have Irish and Scottish in my lineage and feel a strong connection to the natural world and energies, but I’m not sure where to go with it. hey, I hope this is the right place for this post, but I've been trying to research about Celtic jewelry, specifically from the Victorian era. I've only really gotten shops, and the the sites I did find that are about the history of Celtic jewelry are very text with little to no images, and that doesn't really mix well with my dyslexia.

The reason I'm doing this is for a character I'm creating right now for a dnd campaign and I wanted to give them a few Irish traits, but I don't want to use what's on the internet without doing some research first, I want everything to be as accurate as possible.

Both from the fact that I really respect each individual culture and would love to study them to improve on my art, and the fact I don't want to offending neither the culture or anyone from said culture while making this character.

Hi, I’m doing a paper on superstitions across different cultures. I was intrigued by Celtic folklore because I feel like I don’t hear much about it. So I know I have a good amount of Celtic heritage, unaware of how much due to family stuff. However I know a lot of my Celtic ancestors were very spiritual, that's a completely separate thing sorry I'm excited. Anyway we know we're from the like most original Irish Celtics. After reading A Modest Proposal in class and learning about just how much conquering has happened to Ireland, I starting researching like genetic traits. It seems like the original Celts would not have had red hair or blue eyes, things that are common associations with Ireland and Scotland now. From what I've found they probably would have been very very pale, with light brown (amber/gold) or green eyes. Also would have had brown hair ranging from sandy color to amber to normal brunette or mud color. Not until the Norse or the English mixed their genes into the population (pillaging etc) forever changing Celtic society did these stereotypical traits appear in mass.

Now ofc this is just a theory and I'm a teenager so I am no expert just a nerd so plz no hate
