Hello again, surely no one will remember me, it's been a while since I posted anything about this cat here, I've actually been busy with other things, or well, another fandom, so I haven't been encouraged to draw her, but today was an exception, this humble sketch. I really like her new design, although I will always like her when she has her goggles.
I'm working on a DC Comics fan fiction project that I'm calling the OuterVerse, and right now I'm working on a list of pet cats that Catwoman has in the OuterVerse universe. Here are the cats who I feel like are 'must haves', but frankly, in the case of the OuterVerse, there's no such thing as 'too many' pet cats for Catwoman. One of the reasons I'm calling it 'the OuterVerse' is because it is meant to be 'outlandish' and 'over-the-top'. With that in mind, one of the things I'm going all-in on is the number of pet cats Catwoman has. Here is my list so far;
Isis: Catwoman's pet cat in 'Batman: The Animated Series'. Like many other Batman fans (especially those of us who were kids in the 90s) BTAS will always have a special place in my heart.
Miss Kitty: Catwoman's pet cat in 'Batman Returns'. The Tim Burton Batman movies and BTAS are what got me into reading comics in the first place, and the Michelle Pfeiffer Catwoman is probably my favorite live-action Catwoman.
Hecate: Not only is Hecate the first pet Cat Catwoman ever had in comics, she was also in the Adam West Batman movie.
Otto: I couldn't find a link for this one, but Otto was the name of one of Catwoman's cats in 'Batman: Year One'. If I remember correctly, Otto was the only named pet cat in that story arc, and Year One is one of the books I am using as a loose inspiration for the Batman parts of the OuterVerse, so it seems only fitting to put him on the list.
Julio: I couldn't find a link for this one either, but Julio was the name of one of Catwoman's cats in Catwoman Vol. 2. There is a part of me that will always be nostalgic for 90s comics. In terms of Catwoman comics durring that era, part of me likes the sort of 'action hero/action movie' vibes of those comics, but I also kinda missed the sneaky, quiet, stealthy Catwoman. In any case, Julio makes the list.
Cinders: Cinders was the cat that Selina adopted in 'Under the Moon: A Catwoman Tale'. I wasn't necessarily crazy about that story, and didn't really know that it was aimed at a preteen audience when I read it, but spoiler: >!Cinders tragically dies in the story, and that was a catalyst for Selina leaving her home, learning to steal to survive, and eventually becoming 'Catwoman'. In any case, I will be resurrecting Cinders in this fan fiction project, but I'll skip the part of her dyeing tragically.!<
Streaky: Streaky was the name of Supergirl's pet cat, but in the OuterVerse, Selina and Kara are going to become BFFs and I've got an idea that Supergirl might get Streaky from Selina.
Lover and Diablo: Lover and Diablo were the names of black panthers Catwoman adopted at different points in the comics. In the OuterVerse, Catwoman will adopt these two big cats as well, but that won't be until later in her story arc.
Here is a link to a Wiki with a list of some of the pet cats Catwoman has had over the years that has a little bit more information, for anyone who is interested. But I'm curious to know what everyone else thinks, and which cats everyone else thinks should be added to the list. If you give me a suggestion (and a link would be helpful) I'll probably add it to the list.
Saw some Catwoman skill and training feats and realized this might be a closer fight than it seems.
In the Lego Batman games, Catwoman is a villain. In DC Super Hero Girls, she’s just a villain.
Catwoman’s morality is more that JUST a villain, she’s an anti-hero. So, why does kid’s media portray her as just a villain?
Is it because kid’s have only a basic understanding of morality?
