Hi all,
I just stumbled across a website, explaining how you could install AsteroidOS on a WSD-F10 or WSD-F20.
But first of all ... ALL YOU DO IS ON YOUR OWN RISK (I haven't tested anything described on the linked site)
What is AsteroidOS? Seems to be an open source project to get more privacy onto your smartwatch. ( https://wiki.asteroidos.org/index.php/Frequently_Asked_Questions_(FAQ) )
Note: It might not provide the comfort you are used to have with WearOS. Also you will lose the Casio apps on your watch.
So only try this (on your own risk) if your watch already has issues to pair with any phone and is unusable. So in case you have nothing to loose.
Important! The following site describes how to CONNECT YOUR WATCH VIA USB BY CABLE! ... yet you should be a technically skilled user, but at least there's a way now. ( https://wiki.asteroidos.org/index.php/Koi/Ayu )
Maybe you could reactivate your watch by finding some ADB commands via USB cable. (I have only less experience with ADB)
Else you could try to install AsteroidOS to have at least a simple smartwatch. ( https://asteroidos.org/watches/koi/ )
Not sure if this all will work on an already reset watch without developer mode switched to 'on'.
But if I had a bricked watch, I would experiment based on these links.
Anyhow, if you try to follow these instructions, please share your experiences in the comments.
Good luck, Woolve
I have many different old Casio products, but I have lost many years ago my Casio DBC-610 watch. I know that they are discontinued and their price on ebay is around ~100$, where I can get them cheaper, or can I? Help is appreciated!👍🏼
I can barely see the screen / menus in direct light - the oled is fine of course but it only does one watch face .. any recommends for other watch faces or settings ? Is at max brought and font -just cannot see in direct sunlight…
Thanks for any proffered faces or settings ?
Be ideal if could e-ink all but can’t seem to do that .
Any ideas welcome
Hi, I hope you can help me, I’ve been trying to connect my Casio F20 to my android and ios devices but I got the same error on both and I don’t know what to do.
Hi All,
I have recently bought a Casio G-Shock GBA-900 and currently using iOS 17 (the latest software)
My watch should have the capability to alert me for notifications I receive to my phone. However, I only receive notification of calls. I have paired the device to my friends Samsung and it seems to work fine and he receives all notifications to the watch. The following are the troubleshooting steps I have taken:
no luck after all of these steps. If anyone has any information please do advise as this is driving me crazy. The watch itself is amazing but I want the ability of receiving notifications to my watch.
Hey everyone! I recently found an F20 model my dad left while cleaning, and I wanted to try and use it. I have the charging cable and everything but when it charges it gets stuck on this screen shown on the picture. Is there anything I can do to fix it?
I guess I somehow hurt the barometer module while replacing the watch's battery, because the watch keeps complaining about it.. I traced all connections and everything looked OK, even looked at it under a microscope :) But still no height or barometer readings and the watch gives a warning every few minutes about a problem with a sensor. Any ideas where I can find a replacement pressure sensor?
The pressure sensor.. removed from its casing below
TIA
Hi.. My WSD-F10 started giving a Sensor error from time to time.. It might have started when I replaced its battery (ahem). It works for a while, then it complains.. When that happens the barometer and height pages show dashes ---- instead of real values.
I opened it up again and re-seated the ribbon.. It seemed snug however. I'm wondering if it's software related, as the watch did a software update a few days ago..
Did anyone else get Sensor Errors like that?
Hi. I'm using my wsd-f10 fine. Wear os app connects and works well. However the moment setter just crashes. It says setting up watch for about a minute and then crashes and exits.. is there any solution to this? Thanks.
As the title says, I have some issues with the units displayed on the watch. I want to see Celsius but it shows only in Fahrenheit. I can't seem to find the settings to change that neither in the app nor on the watch.
Any help would be appreciated! Cheers!
Already connected my watch using this ADB 'hack' (https://www.reddit.com/r/CasioSmartwatch/comments/zwlweg/casio_wsdf20_and_android_13_phone/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=1), but not 100% happy due to some play store issues on watch.
So I went 'all in'!!
-Unpaired and deleted watch on phone. -Reset watch. -Reconnected watch with WearOS by regular setup process.
... and SUCCEEDED!
Don't know why others were bricked and not mine?! Maybe a recent WearOS fix? Maybe only some F20s are affected? Maybe due to AndroidOne on the phone? Maybe because it has been connected to this phone before through the ADB hack?
Don't know. AMA if you consider to switch your F20 to a new phone too!
Note: No warranty it works on your F20 too!
PS: My phone is a Nokia X20 running plain Android 13 (Android One) and is still getting regular updates. My watchs model no. is 20xx, so I guess quite a low number (=earlier model?).
Hth!
Cheers, Woolve
Hello folk
I was considering buying a wsd21hr but I am really not sure if it is still worth buying after reading so many reviews about performance / updates issues, do you think it is still worth the 300$ or should I wait for newer version that is more compatible with newer Android / wear os?
Thanks
I Had Issue with my F20 PRG,
when the cable charger plug in to the watch, indicator lamp not bright as usual (Red Light ), and now my watch is steady on the digital monochrome condition, but if i plug back the charger, its only just show the battery picture.
i don't know how to fix it, maybe it because the battery is drop or just the cable need replace
PS. a few times i used the USB port in My Laptop to charging the watch, is it the problem cause ?
Please to help, thank you
anyone replace their band? if so with what and pics?
Recently I changed my WSD-F21 to GSW H1000, and there is one thing I do not like - WSD-F21 had a bit better (nicer) TOOL app, and I do not see sunrise/sunset app on GSW H1000, like I had in WSD. Is there a way to see this data on this smartwatch?
Hi guys, recently got a GSW-H1000 after having the WSD F10 and F20.
I can't find a way to change the date format from MM-DD to DD-MM as I'm based in Australia. Can anyone please help!
In the previous watches, the date format changed to DD-MM after it was synced to my Samsung smartphone which has English (Australia) as its language choice.
I have seen YouTube videos where the date is in the DD-MM format so it must be possible.
E.g. in this video: https://youtu.be/dfLlawNfC10 Or https://youtube.com/shorts/-LQyfWmQKnc?feature=share Or https://youtu.be/GIKTATIV3PA
Desperately looking for advice!
Well let's start from the beginning....
A month ago I got to reset my F20A to pair with my new phone and well watch wasn't able to pair due to an "Update" issue.
I investigated and definitely something was wrong on the Watch side....
First I did some search and it seem issue appeared especially on the F20 Series late 2020 with multiple post around Reddit, Google Forum, Twitter.... I'll link all I found so far below :
WSD-F20 connection problem : casiowsd (reddit.com)
Has anyone successfully connected the latest WEAROS App with CASIO WSD F20? : WearOS (reddit.com)
Cannot setup Casio Protrek WSD F20A in wear os app after factory reset - Wear OS by Google Community
WSD-F20 won't connect after reset : casiowsd (reddit.com)
Well as you can see it's not a config problem from one user it's a common issue now....
From what a "Product expert" from Google community said, Casio seem to have dropped off any support for the watch and so backcompatibility with old model :
https://support.google.com/wearos/thread/122145927?hl=en&msgid=125726688
" Casio stopped supporting that watch with updates a while back. I know the Wear OS team tries to maintain backwards compatibility as much as they can, but eventually watches running much older versions of the OS do unfortunately get left behind. "
Well it's definitely a problem for a 300$ paperweight considering that Casio haven't acknowledged about the problem and fix the problem with a +100$ motherboard replacement which is bad considering problem is on Casio/Google side and not user fault :/
I did some system investigation with ADB and found that there was a problem with outdated Play Services with the setup breaking at this exact moment in the logcat :
4-08 11:50:24.864 27178 29358 I CwSetup.CreateConfig: re-enabling connection
04-08 11:50:24.865 24198 26679 E WearableService: enableConnection is no longer supported. Use enableDeviceConnection instead.
04-08 11:50:24.867 27178 29358 E CwSetup.CreateConfig: Unable to enable connection.
04-08 11:50:24.870 27178 29358 I CwSetup.CreateConfig: finished creating ConnectionConfiguration: CreateConfigTask.Result{ isSuccess=false, mConfig=null }
04-08 11:50:24.870 27178 29358 E CwSetup.SetupJob: Failed to create ConnectionConfiguration
04-08 11:50:24.872 27178 27178 E PairingController: pairing failed
Deprecated service over "WearableService" seem to be the main problem but well... any update/downgrade attempt on Watch or Phone side just resulted in a totally failling setup...
So far no fix possible but hope is not over, if any "Expert" is here, i'd be more than glad to talk to try to troubleshoot the issue.
In the sametime, Casio knowing they have a fix should help fix this problem that could be referred as " planned obsolescence" by offering a free Service program and don't let people spend half of the price they paid for some years ago....
