A place to discuss all forms of cartomancy, including playing cards, Lenormand, lotería, tarot, etc.
Welcome to r/Cartomancy! Please keep all discussion cartomancy-related. Show us your new decks, ask for help with interpretation, experiment with new methods, and learn together with the community!
r/tarot and r/tarots are overrun with self promotion and people looking for free readings. The goal of this sub is to promote discussion. "How can I use card reading to evaluate or help my love life?" is a good question. "Confused about my love life, need reading please" Is a personal request and not of interest to the community at large.

I’m looking for some type of leather/cloth wrap, case, or wooden box for my cards. Something that is more respectful than the plastic bin I keep everything in currently. My deck is 54 standard sized playing cards.
Does anyone have a favorite way they store their most cherished deck?
Would anyone like a free reading? I use normal playing cards for cartomancy and would like to practice my skills
I am Not familiar with cartomancy. I’ve lightly dipped my toes into tarotology, astrology, and lenormand (spelling?)
The other day I had a massive blow out fight with my partner, Friday to be exact
While walking with some friends, and bawling openly and feeling heartbroken we crossed two cards out of nowhere
I always pick things like these up
First was the 2 of clubs And the second was a 10 of hearts
Would anyone be so kind as to help me understand if there is any meaning behind these cards or their significance in discovering (order of 2 then 10)?
Thank you for your time and knowledge.
English method 18 card spread - please help interpret this
Just so you know, I use the Art of Cartomancy website and the book: It's Written In the Cards by Leo Martelli for learning.
I got: Jack of diamonds, 3 of diamonds, queen of spades, 8 of hearts and 9 of hearts
Today my older sis (QoS + 8 of hearts = harmonious relation) transferred (JoD) a small amount of money (3d) to me (JoD) this came at the right time as I am in need (9h- a wish granted).
I’m new and am just wondering where everyone learned to read using cartomancy? Should I just look up a cheat sheet and write down the meaning??
Does anyone know if there is a Russian cartomancy fortune with 28 cards?
4♠️ K♦️8♥️
Yes, he did. 4 of spades indicates irritation and possible arguments and disharmony (4♠️+8♥️).
Hello all,
I’m an avid tarot studier but know very little in the cartomancy world. Perhaps this sounds silly, and maybe it is, but I figured it would be better to post and ask than to ignore this.
My partner and I were playing card games tonight and realized that both the four of hearts and four of diamonds have disappeared from our deck.
We have deep cleaned our house and there are no signs of the cards anywhere. They seem to have evaporated into thin air. With no explanation.
Does this mean anything? Thank you all so much for reading
I pulled out these cards from my deck but can't figure out what exactly the cards want to say. My question is how am I being viewed in "G" community.
Can you communicate with spirits using normal playing cards? All my research just shows tarot cards. I'm trying ti reach iit ti my spirit guides
I drew three cards asking the same question as before (will we be together in the future?) and two of the cards were the same but in different order. The first draw was
4 of diamonds, jack of hearts, 8 of hearts.
This one is
jack of hearts, 4 of diamonds, king of spades.
Any thoughts as to how I should interpret this?
UPDATE: 4 of diamonds is my birthday card apparently 😯
I began studying cartomancy recently and have really enjoyed honing my skills, but I'm struggling a little bit to understand intuition and it's role in reading cards - particularly playing cards.
I've heard people saying it should be used to create the narrative between the cards, but then I've seen others claim you can basically set up your own unique system based on only on your own intuition and there's no "wrong way" to read playing cards because it's basically made up.
What, in your opinion, is the role of individual intuition in reading, versus the role of tradition and objective meanings given to cards over time? And what exactly is intuition anyway? Is it as simple as just "what you feel to be"?
So as the title said, I had my first kiss. I'm a girl, 16. My boyfriend is 17. Since I had that kiss now all I think about is what if he doesn't like me. So I asked the cards:"how does he feel about me?" And this cards came up. Can someone please help me find out the meaning?
I drew 4 of diamonds, Jack of hearts, 8 of hearts. He's currently in a relationship with someone else.
I've decided to learn different types of divination and cartomancy seems to be suited for me best. What card systems would you all recommend? Which would be best for a beginner to learn?
I found these three cards in a room in this order. I did some research and have an idea but wanted to get ya’lls insight as well.
Does anyone else find shuffling almost meditative? Like there are times when I'm not working with the cards, but I'll pick up a deck to shuffle it.
On a side note: Anyone else get paper cuts from working with cards? I've gotten one or two, and I can't quite figure out why/how it happened.
I’m new to cartomancy and I pulled this spread. I have some money that is on the way. I asked would I receive the money soon. The jack of diamonds was the first card pulled.
Basically what the title says. I would like to make playing cards along with my dice my main divinatory tools since I've been fascinated with these things since a child but I would like a system that doesn't have to do with tarot and I can't find one I currently have the interpretations from 54 devils but I don't know if it'll click for me cause some of the meanings don't make sense to me and I would like to make my own system but don't know enough about the cards to do so without having a base to start from anyways with all that said if y'all could help me find a system or know of somewhere I can find one please lmk and I think all of you for the advice given
I (35 F Married) did not ask a question specifically but had a situation in mind. Theres some contention about relocating, costs and things associated with that. I cleared my mind and did what I do before starting.
The internal card was 9 ❤️ and external was 4♦️. This 100% tracks to the situation so I continued.
I then pulled the doubles until I got my signifier (K❤️) which is likely my spouse. The companion card (10♦️) signifies happiness and contentment. (See pic)
I then picked the 3 additional cards (8♠️, 7♠️ and 5♦️) and that’s where I’m lost at how all of this work together.
Any ideas of interpretation as a whole here?
I'm new to cartomancy. I find it really interesting. I've pulled a few cards every day for the past week or so, shuffling to my best ability each time, but I still don't understand how it works. Today I simply asked how my day is going/how my day will go. I'm a teenager, and my mother and I don't have the best relationship. We got into another argument a few days ago and have been ignoring each other since. I've learned from others that red cards = positive, and black cards (mostly spades?) = negative. I've also learned that kings = man, queens = woman, and jacks = child? I'm not quite sure, but is it possible that the queen and jack in this pull represent my mother and I? Or does that depend on the suit of the card? Either way, my biggest concern is what the jokers mean. I still have so many questions - do you use jokers in cartomancy, or do you set them to the side? What do they mean? When looking for the meaning, I always get mixed answers. I'd really appreciate if someone could help me with this, thank you.
Hi! I am a beginner and my deck just scared me lol. I got a vintage doll from the 70s and thought it would be fun to know how were their owner like.... does this mean that the person is DEAD?😭
any help is appreciated! I read playing cards based off the minor arcana of tarot with some adjustments (like the aces are either regular aces or pages depending on context. in this case i understood it as a page). It is usually working quite well and tbh I'm not in a hurry to start reading major arcana, but just giving context since i know some people have other methods.
Good evening everyone, I recently had a conversation with my mother where she mentioned that in her past, she consulted with a fortune teller, I believe to inquire about her romantic future, and there she consistently received the same outcome, a result she remembers as the 'White General'. Does anyone know if this card truly exists or if my mother might be confusing it with another similar one? Because a searched for it and I just can't find it anywhere I'm not an expert in cartomancy, but I would like to know more about what my mother told me and that specific card
