r/tarot and r/tarots are overrun with self promotion and people looking for free readings. The goal of this sub is to promote discussion. "How can I use card reading to evaluate or help my love life?" is a good question. "Confused about my love life, need reading please" Is a personal request and not of interest to the community at large.

Hi, I'm new, I want to know if I need special God-given abilities when doing readings? Personally, I don't think it's necessary, we just need to study and practice to develop intuition and experience, right? And all types of cards like tarot, playing cards, etc are like that, right? Hope you guys can answer my question sincerely❤️❤️❤️
Hii, my name is Andreas, im 24 yo and im a poker dealer at my city, ive been intrigued by esoteric knowledge and mysticism for the last couple of years, and as i develop my career as a dealer combined with the little ive learned about cartomancy and numerology i cant help but notice some patterns on the cards i give on the game.
the picture above shows a flop that always caught my attention, they all have something in common, they appeared on a saturday with pretty much a month of difference and i was on shrooms. kind of irresponsible to go on shrooms to the job i know but its not a huge dose and i know how to handle it.
the point is, besides the constant daily pratice of meditation, shrooms is the substance i use to "enhance" my mystic abilities, where i get in a state where i can feel this kind of metaphysic energy.
players dont even notice this patterns, they think is all mathematical and coincidencial but i refuse to believe this, cause its been pretty clear to me, the 999s above are only the ones i managed to take a picture of, but everyday i am constantly telling some sort of history with the cards, i can already tell before hand what player is going to lose and what player is going to win, i can sometimes read with gut what players are thinking and this skill is just getting better and better.
now i am posting because so far ive been on my own on this journey, i belive what ive found is valuable insight but still need work to do upon, but i hope someone at least can see and maybe guide me on what could go next from now on, or is this it?
sorry if my english is weird,
Hello! I've asked my tarot deck about a situation with a friend of mine. We're such good friends in a group of 4 people including me, the group became a group beacause of me, I'm the link between the other people and this friend and he's a little bit closer to me than to the other two friends of us, but this isn't a problem to any of us and not so relevant. We all (the four) have created a closer bond in the last years, we hang out every time we can and talk all day about lots of things.
This friend, the one that is closer to me (I will call him "J"), is getting married soon, like two weeks from now, and is not inviting any of us three to his mini wedding. We know he's on a 2~3 month time of a little money lack because he's entering a new job with a huge salary and will move away soon because of this job, so all these things need money and we understand very well why he and his wife are not making a big wedding party now, but they are inviting other friends of him (which he always said that are not so close as we are to him (also, he said to me a lot of times I am the closest friend of him, like a best friend)) and maybe other friends of his wife.
I don't think his wife ever liked any of his friends (our group included, even considering we try a lot to make her comfortable with us and that he always says how grateful he is for our friendship), but we thoughy their marriage is such an important moment for him and he would want us to be with him in that moment.
I asked the cards if this situation of not inviting us to their wedding was afflicting J. I thought of this question because it seemed to me that he didn't invite us only because of his wife and this was putting him in a stressful situation with her, but now I don't know what to think since the four of pentacles. It's like he really didn't want to invite us to save money (?) and it's totally okay with this, even thought he did invite other friends that aren't close to him like he says we are.
How do you guys read this card combination? What does it mean?
Forgive my ignorance. In tarot, there are countless guides, books, and the meanings are standardized enough where you can get readings from people and assume they know what they’re talking about because there’s something to cross-reference (at least, for RWS and Thoth). I can’t find an equivalent for cartomancy. Nobody has any consensus, which makes comparing reading interpretations difficult to get an actual answer on, as far as I can tell.
How is one supposed to approach cartomancy with standard playing cards in a way that is not doomed to be personalized just to the reader, then? Or is that the appeal? Am I totally off base?
Can someone help me interpret this please? I wanted to know what would become of a certain relationship. Thank you!
I was feeling a bit heartbroken about a person I used to know and was wondering if everything that I was and have been experiencing was just the consequences of my own actions/karma. I'd be inclined to say yes, but was curious about what others think based on these cards.
(I do reserse meaning sometimes, and felt oddly inclined put 3♠️ sideways when my eyes were closed, take that as you will :,D)
I have a family friend who reads playing cards. I was super against it because of my faith but funny enough she’s also a Christian who was taught by her mom and doesn’t tell anyone she does it minus 3 of us. I’ve gone to her a few times and her events almost always ( 99.8 )happen but the time frame can take months. For my bff who goes, her timeline is extremely quick when she reads for her.
She also does a pretty cool spread. After I cut (into 3) she reads each cut, then does a wheel. She does this twice. My last 3 readings all say positive things about a situation I’m hoping to come to pass but could disbelief or fear delaying the process? Or does that sound weird lol? If she keeps seeing the same thing, is it destined?! I’m trying to not pay attention to the “3D” and just keep faith.
Edit: I don’t ask a question. I cut for me, for my house and for what awaits and she just does her thing.
So I tend to get bored in my math class and I like to play ace of spades with an app on my calculator and then I remembered cartomancy exists (I'm not really a witch, dabbled in it 2020/2021 and am starting to kind of get back into witchcraft) and was wondering if I could use a digital deck of cards or if it had to be a real life physical deck of cards. I was just curious on the opinions of people who actually practiced cartomancy.
I'm having a lot of success lately using playing cards (way more success than last time i did it around 2022) but every reading goes something like this
if i'm asking something like "should i do X tomorrow?" i get a bunch of cards pretty much describing my situation but i cant really get a definitive answer on the question itself
is it an approach problem? can i get the answers to questions like that through cartomancy?
i'm using "The New World Witchery Guide to CARTOMANCY" by Cory Hutcheson as a guide for the meaning of the cards and trying out different spreads from everywhere btw
I use this deck with the numbers and suits for deeper general meanings and accompany the flowers as oracle sort of as extra meaning. I initially asked "what are three things I need to know right now?" But the first row felt quite negative cos of the spades. I pulled the other three for further clarification. For the top row it feels like it speaks of trouble and bad news that may come to me? And maybe the end of a cycle. I may fail something but it will be the end of that cycle. And for the last three I suppose love and for 6♡ I associate with past-life/soul connection. I would love to hear others interpretations, as I am still a newbie.
This is a rant. I’m posting this in hopes that someone will lead me in the right direction in my cartomancy journey.
This is what 30 years of reading esoteric books has done to my brain while studying new subjects.
Has anyone else thought about how there are 48 constellations in antiquity plus 4 equals 52. I don’t know why I thought there would be a system like this. 48 constellations 4 rulers over the four quadrants (the kings)…. two jokers big joker/fools journey the larger light. (Sun)… small joker/fools journey moon. If there is something out on the subject can someone let me know.
I know the title sounds ridiculous. But, for example, a friend of mine is into tarot. They, whenever they get a new deck, will meditate with the deck, and draw a few cards from it to try to communicate with the deck itself. A different friend of mine burns incense around the new deck, and something else that i don't really understand. They do this, to my knowledge, to get closer with their decks and understand them easier. Is there anything like that in cartomancy, since it's technically just playing cards? Follow up, if i am supposed to meditate with the deck, how the fuck do you meditate?
I would love to understand this spread but am unable to get it translated.
Any help would be truly appreciated.
I've found several cartomancy resources, and some have conflicting interpretations, is there any that are more credible than the others, or is it an open interpretation, or up to what feels correct?
I want to name my divination deck. Any ideas for names? I'll try out every one and pull out a card to see if it's in agreement.
No silly names allowed.
PS: It's a poker deck.
-6 clubs Communication, Written Messages, Being Understood -9 hearts Paths, Easy Progress, Harmony -2 spades Heartbreak, Argument, Angry Words
Fairly new to card reading and I would be grateful to anyone who can help me understand my deck.🙂
Hi there! In the past 24 hours I've found 4 playing cards--first a King of Diamonds, then a 3 of Diamonds, a 4 of Diamonds, and a 5 of Diamonds. Curious if anyone has any idea what this might symbolize? A little context on my life--I went through a massive breakup nearly a year ago, and spent a lot of this year healing, moving into my own place, and pursuing a new avenue in my field that has yielded some really lovely things. I just signed with a new business partner that I'm really excited about, and we're getting ready to push for some big opportunities--don't know if it has anything to do with that? In general, I've been trying to dream big, while allowing space for patience.
Ask a question
No silly questions (example: does my ex, ten years of no contact still love me)
I’m only pulling one card to answer your question so try to make them yes or no questions
Olá, pessoal. Sou nova no Reddit e gostaria de pedir para vocês me fazerem perguntas de sim/não, a fim de praticar minhas leituras com o baralho Lenormand. Peço que, preferencialmente, vocês saibam a resposta. Obrigada!
I'm trying to decide what I want to stick with, so just wondering what others prefer.
Do you prefer using Diamonds as Pentacles/finances/material & Clubs as Wands/passion/ambitions
Or Diamonds as Wands/passion/ambitions and Clubs as Pentacles/finances/material
I like the Diamonds as Wands and Pentacles as Clubs, but it seems less common.. I like to think of the Clubs as coming from the ground, so more rooted in the material, and the diamond is like the fire/spark in the wands.
Last year I had a weird dream. It is still bothering me because I couldn't find the meaning of it and maybe somebody from here can explain it. (I do not know anything about cartomancy). I dreamed about 3 women coming to me. They seem to me more like witches in the dream. They were having a pack of cards and they said to me that some cards from the pack are under the table and I should pick them up. I went under the table and look for them and I saw some cards back. When I wanted to pick them up I saw that already in my right hand were 2 cards: Jack of diamonds and King of clubs. The Jack of diamonds was only half of it the other half was blank. I went to pick a card from the floor and I picked with my left hand 10 of hearts. After that the other cards from the floor disappeared and I couldn't pick other card. So I was left with those 3 that I mention before. Can anyone know the meaning of those cards?
howdy folks,
how would you go about finding an in-person card reading in your area? I see plenty of tarot readings advertised at events here and there, but they all seem to use the Smith Waite and fantasy decks. I'm looking either for someone reading tarot de marseilles, older related decks, older oracle cards, or playing cards - really anything outside the main pipeline of Occultist/Golden Dawn/Smith Waite/Astro/New Age interpretation.
I am located in northern New Mexico, fairly new to tarot, and not super plugged into online spaces (mostly a social media drop out). any help is appreciated, thanks!
Basically what the title says ive seen a couple but none of them are really catching my attention so I figured I'd ask y'all for some recommendations the only scary deck I have is the Abandoned Oracle deck and I absolutely love it
