Hi! I've just moved to Upstate South Carolina and would like to find great books or courses (or YouTube channels) that will teach me everything I need to know about mushroom foraging in SC/NC. I knew a little bit about foraging chantarrels in Vancouver Canada where I lived, but I see that there is a different forest here, climate etc. I want to learn more. Where do I start?
You know I love it!
Just wanted to say that I hope the best for all of our WNC redditors.
To those negatively impacted by Helene, my thoughts and heart are with you.
Found at glenville lake!
Disc golf disc for scale.
I know this is something that a lot of folks who forage for mushrooms don’t care to share, but would anyone be willing to point me to some parks or other locations where I could find chanterelles or edible mushrooms near Charlotte, NC? I also am willing to drive towards the mountains if you know of a really good spot. It’s my birthday soon and I would love to try and forage some mushrooms to celebrate! I’d be happy to chat over DMs as well if preferred, thank you so much for any pointers.
Love the margin on this sample!
I found these little dudes today by small creek in Hillsborough, NC. Growing primarily around beech and oak. Are these hedgehogs?
Trail love! Pilot mountain NC. Found at the base of pine spp.
