Hey guys! I will soon be moving to Durham and getting a new Road Bike and I was wondering if you guys know or recommend a Bike fitter in the area?
I created an online community in Discord to bring cyclists together between the two states. Living in the Charlotte Metro area and lucky to be close to SC, I often ride between the two states.
We’re looking for cyclists of all riding levels, trail coordinators, local shops, coaches, and community leaders!
Our community includes all cycling disciplines (MTB, Gravel, Urban, and Road), which are broken up into channels. No more jumping in and out of siloed groups where finding relevant information can be challenging. Only interested in a specific trial or discipline? You can hide any channels that you want. Have an idea about a channel? Feel free to suggest it. This will only improve as we continue gathering feedback from our community members.

I recently moved here and I am now officially terrified of biking on North Charleston Roads. People pass me pretty close, and it scares the shit out of me. When the road has a shoulder, I stay in the shoulder and out of the way, but one of the main roads I bike on doesn't have a shoulder. I try to occupy the whole lane so that people have to pass me in the other lane and give me space but that seems to enrage the pickup truck guys. Any advice?
My mother just had her ebike stolen. She just moved there and it's her main mode of transportation, so this is incredibly demoralizing. It was stolen from her apartment's car port in North Asheville/Grove Park. It's a black 2019 Tern HSD 8Si. If anyone sees anything on craiglist, FB marketplace, or in person, please please please get in touch and let the cops know. I don't live locally and so would really appreciate anyone's help with this.
Any cyclists around the concord/skybrook area? Looking for some people to ride with.
My friend and i are still fairly new to road cycling, we’ve been riding about 6 months but recently talked about taking a short trip to cycling somewhere new. We live in central florida so we primarily have flat trails and would be looking for something with some elevation (nothing too crazy though since we lack experience). Does anyone have any scenic trail suggestions that might be worth a trip up from Florida?
Hi! I am coming to Asheville this weekend from Nashville and was looking to do some long road bike rides 40-60mi., maybe Blue Ridge / Elk Mountain. Are there any good group rides that go at this time of year? Anyone in town interested in riding together?
Hey everyone. Going to wife’s family reunion in Santee, SC and want to know if there is good road bike routes in the area. Could only find one route posted to Strava.
Since I’ll only be there for one weekend, I don’t have much time to head down to Charleston or out to Greenville.
Let me know if the riding there is enjoyable.
Thanks!
I am training on my road bike in charlotte and searching for a place to take long rides (~27-30 miles). I know there are some greenways around here that are ~4-6 miles each way, but I was hoping to find a longer path. I am not comfortable on the roads by myself, so I would prefer something away from cars. Any suggestions are much appreciated!

Black and bright Yellow, wheel treads on back wheel are backwards to front wheel, Bright Yellow Water Holder, Black and Red Trim bag under seat w/ Multitool.
The title says it all, office is in the Research Triangle Park area, just north of the airport. It appears your CX season is coming to a close so I'm bringing the road bike. Is the riding better on the northeast or southwest sides of that area (for hotel selection)? I'm not super fast, just an average cat-4 CX-bro, would love to hear ride recommendations or routes, like to ride 4-5 hours on Saturdays and Sundays. The Strava heat map isn't delivering the information I need.
Is 52/36 - 11-28 reasonable gearing for the area? Need an 11-30?
Also, anyone care to rent a smart trainer so I don't have to pack mine? Thanks a ton for the advice on this.
Title pretty much says it all. I’m in Durham for this weekend and am looking for a Saturday morning ride. Not looking for an easy spin, preferably something on the quicker side, maybe 35-50mile range?
I'm originally from Idaho, and I'm desperately missing the 85mi+ dedicated cycling path I used to train on. I don't need that, but where can I go and just cruise for 4 hours?

There have been a number of bicycle/car accidents and tragedies this year in the triangle and there are many close calls riders experience each and every week while riding. To encourage safe cycling and to promote positive interactions between bicyclists and drivers, local riders, bike clubs and various organizations will be hosting the Capital Area Ride for Safety (CARS) on September 25th, 2016. This ride will be on Sunday morning roundtrip from Wakefield High School, with a stop in downtown Raleigh at Halifax Mall for refreshments and speakers.
The CARS ride will carry the message across the triangle encouraging bicycling, demonstrate obedience to the law, show proper car/bicycling etiquette, support local tourism, and generate constructive dialogue. The idea is to educate, raise awareness and encourage positive interaction between drivers and bicyclist.
DATE: Sunday, September 25th
START/FINISH: Wakefield High School, 2200 Wakefield Pines Drive, Raleigh NC 27614
REGISTRATION FEE: $10 (Donations Accepted)
START: 7:30am (Open at 6:30am)
FINISH: 11am
DISTANCE: 29 miles
HALFWAY POINT: Halifax Mall, 300 N Salisbury St, Government Complex, Raleigh, NC 27603 (http://www.godowntownraleigh.com/go/halifax-mall)
ROUTE: http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/1205290363
PACE: This ride will be "CONTROLLED" at approximately a 14-15mph AVERAGE pace with assistance from the Raleigh Police Department. *(You MUST be able to maintain the minimum posted pace)
WEATHER: In the event of rain the event will be canceled for safety reasons. A ride weather update will be posted a few days before the event.
FACEBOOK PAGE: https://www.facebook.com/CapitalAreaRideforSafety
IMPORTANT NOTE: Everyone is welcome to join this event but we stress to everyone that if you are not accustomed to riding this pace and/or distance, we highly recommend that you ride to the halfway point (Halifax Mall) and have a ride awaiting you to take you back to Wakefield High School. Since this is a mass ride, we can not have people falling off the back and stretching out the procession any more than we need to due to traffic concerns so it is important that you know your limitations.
DONATIONS: to help the 4 cyclists injured recently in Johnston County will be accepted at the event or by going to the GoFundMe page at https://www.gofundme.com/grahamandcomrades.
Just thought I would share this for those who haven't seen it. It's a good way of gauging the amount of traffic on roads in NC. I can't confirm that everything is 100% accurate, it looks like it was updated in 2015, and some areas have grown a lot since then. However, it matches up with what I've seen, at least in relative terms.
Hope this is helpful for other folks like me who want to see as few cars as possible when they're out riding.
Is fats in Augusta any good for a beginner who would want some variety on his first ride?
Hi all! I'm looking to get into cycling. I would likely use it to ride around town and take nice long rides during weekends. I'm new to the Triangle area and am interested in getting to see more of it. I don't really know what to look for in a bike and I'd love to get some recommendations, bike shops, tips, etc. I'm also not looking to spend too much as this would be my first bike after the kiddie ones I owned when I was younger, so some information on price points would be appreciated!
