Cardano is a decentralized public blockchain and cryptocurrency project that is fully open-source. Cardano is developing a smart contract platform which seeks to deliver more advanced features than any protocol previously developed. It is the first blockchain platform to evolve out of a scientific philosophy and a research-first driven approach. The development team consists of a large global collective of expert engineers and researchers.
Welcome to Cardano!
Cardano is a highly secure blockchain written in Haskell. It allows formal verification of code, and easy extensibility through a layered architecture. Cardano's technology is built from peer-reviewed research at some of the world's foremost universities.
After more than two years of planning and development, we're delighted to announce that the Cardano blockchain was publicly launched on the 29th September 2017. Cardano's Ada token was then made available for trading on the 1st October at Bittrex exchange.
On this subreddit you can learn more about the project, understand its great potential and engage in the worldwide Cardano community!

Uncle Charles just let us know that DJED is “still cooking” despite going through a market event worse than the Terra-Luna Collapse!
I think this is impressive and honestly, I would encourage DJED to go through regular stress testing to ensure that it can remain solvent during a crash.
I am one of the $LUNA victims and I can confirm this brings me some comfort knowing that DJED is not the same. This is on the heels of various DDOS attacks on Cardano and on Iagon. Cardano’s ecosystem is just built different.

Hey y’all, anyone know of any AI tools that can code in Haskell?
This thread renews weekly. Please use this for any trading/market discussion as well as any other off-topics you like!
If you're new, please make sure you read through the newbies guide and share it with others so you stay safe and secure with your assets. It is important you are aware of common scams and know how to create and manage your wallet and store your seed phrase safely and securely.
We highly recommend investing in a hardware wallet from the beginning, like a Keystone, Ledger or Trezor.
You can help others by making use of the comment commands in any post to reference parts of the newbies guide - unfamiliar with comment commands? Just include the text: ?help

Questions ?
Please feel free to ask questions here or in posts, but please be sure to make search first so we don't have to keep repeating ourselves/making redundant posts. The Cardano community are helpful and your question will always get answered.
Be aware of scams and scammers, always follow the rule, "Don't trust, verify". Always publicly verify whether a source of information/offer is true and don't let greed violate that rule. Be cautious before connecting your wallet to any site, entering your seed phrase or sending ADA to an unknown wallet.
Scammers often approach people in private messages and imitate legitimate people and entities.
Sometimes the will send out scam tokens to try and phish you into visiting scam websites.
Do not be fooled, almost anything can be faked like websites, apps, the number of subscribers, viewer count, video (ai can generate fake videos), verification status.
Cardano doesn't do ADA giveaways. Make sure you verify any airdrops from other projects.
No your wallet does not need to be verified!

Bought a few tokens on a sale just to see if it worked, but I can't find where I can actually see the amount of tokens in should have.
It was for the Olympus Insights presale.
Can anyone guide me where I can see how many in actually bought on this site?
“Just buy the dip.” Y’all promise we’re gonna make it right? 🥲
In 2021, IOG/IOHK used the genesis keys to move unclaimed funds from the Cardano ICO (318million ADA).
https://forum.cardano.org/t/so-whats-up-with-the-unclaimed-ada-from-the-ico/138284
Until now, we had no idea what happened to these funds other than they were being staked.
Today, IOG employee Samuel Leathers confirmed that the funds were used by IOG/IOHK "to fund the development of Cardano prior to treasury unlock"

Question (1):
Do you think it's ethical for IOHK to claim the 318million ADA which belong to ICO participants, when IOHK already received 2.4billion ADA and 100,586BTC from the ICO?
Question (2):
Does this confirm IOHK ran out of money? Do you think this influenced their decision to prioritize governance over scaling?
Is there anyone with experience building smart contracts that can tell me where to start? I'm a JS fullstack dev with 20 years xp.
This is probably a dumb question, but the computer I used to stake my ADA crashed and I'm trying to figure out how to recover/reconnect with my rewards. I know which pool I was staking my ADA in, and I have my seed phrase. Can I just install Yoroi wallet in my browser like before and connect to the staking pool to get access to my rewards? Thanks!

Trump has made it clear he’s out for revenge against those who opposed him over the last four years (or maybe his whole life). Meanwhile, Hoskinson seems to have a similar drive, wanting to prove the doubters wrong, especially the media that largely ignored Cardano. Plus, there’s always that lingering rivalry with his former Ethereum colleagues. Could their mutual desire to settle scores make them natural allies?
EDIT: (I'm adding this because of some of the comments). This post isn't meant to be a conspiracy theory. It's just a reflection on what might motivate this kind of partnership on a crude human lavel. Also, this isn't something I invented: Hoskinson has already hinted at it, so I just wanted to start a non trivial conversation about it.
Stake pool alliances are collectives of stake pools that share a commun mission.
Stake pools join alliances to:
🔹 Lift each other up
🔹 To take part in a greater mission
🔹 Boost visibility to attract more delegators

I know better than to expect any positive Cardano news to generate positive price action. I'm just curious if it's actually something big. Thoughts?
Hey y’all...quick question for the pros out there.
Looking for a hardware wallet that:
Is there a setup that balances security with staking access, or does using a hardware wallet create limitations?
Would love to hear what’s working for y'all. Any recs??
Hello everyone on r/Cardano,
I'm Pudgy Cat, and this is my first post here.
I've been lurking for a while, and this community seems like a good place to connect with other Cardano enthusiasts. I've heard good things, especially compared to some other online spaces, so I thought I'd introduce myself.
I've been involved with Cardano since January 2022 (about three years now), and I run this small, personal, cat-themed project that I started as a creative outlet. My background is in writing (professionally, in fact), though I also have some IT experience (which I studied, but later moved away from for a more creative career). This project allows me to combine those interests. Some of you might have already come across me on X, or in some older content published on Dapp Central or Cardano Over Coffee.
In my first year, I've experimented with token creation and have released a couple of NFT collections, but I'm not particularly focused on the speculative side of crypto. I'm more interested in Cardano's underlying philosophy, its vision, and its academic approach. My little community is pretty laid-back; just a small group of people who enjoy discussing Cardano and, well, cats.
Later, I've spent more time interacting a bit with other Cardano projects and communities, like Cornucopias, NEWM, Genius Yield, and others. I've also been working on some content creation, including a sci-fi-comedy podcast-style show on YouTube called "The Great Beyond", and I recently published a cat-themed book, "Catnip and Chaos", available on Amazon. During these years I've also applied for Project Catalyst funding twice, and while the feedback has been positive, I haven't been successful in the voting stage.
Right now I'm slowly working on some online tutorials and music projects that I plan to share on here in future. Hopefully, some of you might find them interesting.
I have a lot more to share, but I didn't want to overwhelm everyone with a huge first post. I'm looking forward to getting to know this community and joining the discussions. Thanks for having me.
Hi All, I bought about 500 ADA tokens in 2020, priced ~$2.20. Back then Cardano was supposed to the ETH killer, etc. etc. I stuck the tokens away and staked them waiting to see how the project would do. Now, 2025, I still haven't heard of any real projects being built with Cardano, buy maybe that's because I don't follow it enough.
Can anyone provide me with TL;DR of how the project is doing and what the use cases are supposed to be now? Thanks in advance.
