Carcano Rifle Interest

I’m not sure of the date this carcano was made, tried to look at serial number but still could not get a clear answer need help. It also says FAT 42 on the top just faintly though since the finish covers some of it
Hello fellow Carcano collectors, I have recently come across the opportunity to purchase either a Type 1 or a 1938 Carcano Truppe Speciale. These are priced at $500 and $300 respectively. Ammunition for either is not really a problem for me so it isn’t really a deciding factor. I can only afford one of these right now. The Carcano has been in the shop for over 6 months now but the type 1 just got there a week ago. Which rifle would you choose if you were in this position?
Ordered an M38 short rifle and this is what showed up. This isn't a M38 short rifle unless there's another variant out there.
I just did some digging and saw old posts from this reddit and a couple forum pages. But does any one have a good idea in where to get an accurate repro that fits or an original M91 carcano sling? It seems like it'll be a tad hard. Unless I get lucky on eBay Italy or an obscure Italian site. any clues or leads would be much appreciated.
Hi all,
What molds are recommended for casting bullets? Seeing .264 and .268 thrown around a lot.
I want to get a Carcano rifle but I want to get one as best as I can. I know milsurp is a gamble however if I can make my odds even slightly better it worth it. So here’s my genuine question is RTI really as bad as other say it is? I know they have the hand select option which sounds intriguing but I just don’t know if it’s worth it.
19 rounds of carcano in 2 clips
I’ve been having issues with my Carcano 1891/28 TS carbine, so whenever I loaded a full clip I would shoot one round and the casing would never eject, it actually jammed the bolt every time. Firing PPU btw. So after a week or 2 of that I thought it would’ve been cosmaline and a dirty chamber, so I boiled the gun metal(keeping the blu to retain value) and got a lot of the cosmaline out, scrubbed chamber thoroughly to clean it nicely, removed excess red rust and oiled it all up well, went out to fire it again today and it actually didn’t jam… for the first 2 rounds. Then it started doing it again. I have to bang the stock of the rifle against the table while jamming the bolt down to unstick it. I really don’t want to get rid of this rifle I absolutely love it and its history and it’s also my first surplus rifle, but I also don’t want a rifle that won’t function properly. Has anyone had a similar issue to this at all?
I know this is for Carcanos, but I think it is the best collection of Italian fire arm surplus aficionados as well. Would any of you guys know how to remove the stock off a Breda 30. Specifically the two wrist screws. I was able to get one set off but the other seems to be stuck, one side is a pig nose nut and the other side is a crude soft flat head. Trying not to strip it, but it will probably have to be replaced. I don’t think it’s been pinged over on the pig nose, but the bolt spins freely but won’t break free. I’ve tried a little heat and wd40, but no luck. Any ideas?
Obviously it’s very difficult to come by original clips for 8mm. I was wondering if anyone had tried the 3D printed clips for 8mm? I see these on eBay but didn’t want to own a couple pieces of junk that didn’t work…
Anyone know where i can get a bayonet for the m38? Or ammo 😂
Anyone have a picture of a total cleaning set?
