Visiting 10/4-10/6

Hey there! Visiting with some friend (4 adults in our 40s) and looking to see what is going on in the area. We are planning on visiting some wineries and breweries , with a over in Wildwood, and a night in downtown Cape May. Any suggestions on what to get into this weekend?

Booze Cruise on Cape May Whale Watcher

Has anyone rented the Cape May Whale Watcher for a private event?

I'm planning a bachelorette party the first weekend of April and was looking for a booze cruise option. I've reached out to other options, but its too early in the season for them to know for sure if they can book. The Whale Watcher is the only one that said they are running a boat that early in the season.

Weekend Bach ideas?

Made a similar post a few months back, but the weekend is upon us and I’m curious if there’s anything I may have missed! Any local fall festivals or markets happening 10/4-10/5? So far our plan is to do the zoo, stop in pour for a candle bar class, peruse around Washington street, potentially roller skating in convention hall and a small bar crawl to top of the trip. Decided against whale watching to save those who get sea sick, and against wineries/vineyards in an effort to stay more budget friendly. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Happy Autumn!

Hi guys, I’ll be visiting family who moved to the area last year near the end of October for more than a week. It’ll be my first time there and i’m worried that it’ll be much colder than what I’m used to. I live in a desert where it’s still 100+ in late September. What do you guys expect the temps will be in late October?

Oh, and I was told that I won’t need to rent a car. Do you think that I might go crazy without a personal form of transportation? Should I rent something like an electric scooter or something?

Restaurant recommendations

Hi everyone. My wife and I are coming to Cape May October 4th-6th for our 10 year anniversary (we're staying at the Montreal). Looking for a nice place to have our anniversary dinner. We're familiar with the area but mostly the bars and casual places. Looking for a recommendation on a nice place, preferable not BYOB because my wife likes cosmos and drinks like that. Thanks!

September 28th

Hi all! I plan to take a day trip to Cape May this Saturday, the 28th. Is there anything you can recommend that I should check out? I remember there's an all you can eat crab legs/blue class restaurant that I want to check out. But I'm not sure where else I should go. TIA!

Monarch Butterfly Migration

I saw online that the window to see monarch butterflies in Cape May was between end of September-October. Is it still too early to see them?

I was in Cape May Point today looking on the monarch butterfly trail and the dune crossover areas but no luck. Maybe there are other factors that I haven’t considered. Has anyone seen them yet or have tips on best way to see them?

Washington Street Mall

I’m wondering if anyone has insight on the Washington Street Mall hours from Christmas Eve to New Year’s? All I’ve found online is that hours may vary.

Suggestions for where to watch the eagles game tonight?

I’m staying on Howard street and would love to catch the game tonight - I was thinking the Ugly Mug or Carney’s would have plenty of TVs but we just walked past Ugly Mug at 2:30 and the place looks packed. I’d prefer not to have to get somewhere an hour before kickoff to secure a table or barstools with a view of a TV. Anyone have any suggestions for bars/restaurants that may not be jam packed where I have a good chance of strolling in 15 minutes before kickoff and getting a seat? Thanks!

Are there any beaches in Cape May that are easy and very close walk from the parking lot?

We came with the intention of going to Ocean City but it is foggy and we ended up at the Cape May Zoo. It might just be easier to go to acute May beach instead of driving back to Ocean City. Are there any beaches that are super close to the parking that you don't have to struggle to get down to the water? We have twin infants and life is hard. Thanks in advance!

Gas prices in Cape May County

Just took a trip to PA last weekend, and I noticed gas there was way cheaper than it is here. Never in my life did I see prices lower there than here. Coming home Driving down RT. 40 in NJ I saw every single gas station was significantly lower in the 2.99-3.19 range.

The local BP and conoco in NCM both haven’t changed their prices in weeks (it hasn’t changed from 3.37 since august). Wondering if any other locals/visitors are noticing the same thing or had any insight as to why our local prices haven’t changed for nearly a month?

If you had to rank restaurants?

We are doing Peter Shields Inn for my husbands birthday, and we only have 2 other days/nights for eats.

I’ve seen Primal, Ebbitt Room, Tisha’s, George’s Place, Blue Pig, Port Marina, Washington Inn, Magnolia Room and a few others recommended in this sub… if you had to choose just two other places to dine, which would you?

Would also LOVE your favorite casual lunch spot recommendations, preferably with outdoor seating.

Thanks in advance!

Edit in case it is helpful for anyone who finds this post: we did Port Marina, Ebbitt and PSI for dinners, Tisha’s for lunch, and Blue Pig and Mad Batter for brunches. We loved Ebbitt and Tisha’s. PSI was very elegant, wonderful service, excellent appetizers, but meals were just OK. In the future, we will definitely be trying Washington Inn and Tisha’s also for dinner. Port Marina was great ambiance - we preferred the sushi menu to the other dishes we got.

Visiting Cape May by ferry today

Hello friends! I'm hopping on the ferry in Lewes and bouncing over to Cape May, today, as my friend and I are camping in the Cape Henlopen park.

We're basically considering just hanging out on the boat cause having drinks on a big boat on a nice day is fun, but also because my friend isn't sold on exploring the town.

I suggested taking the shuttle from the boat and kicking it around town for a little bit. Can anybody local or familiar help me out with tips for where to visit? We're elder millennials-- we're into records, books, crafting and art, drinks. I also worked in the restaurant industry for 20 years and owned/ operated a bakery for about 6 years, so dope baked goods or hidden gems for other snacks are worth their weight in gold.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Dogs on Beach in Cape May City After Labor Day

I just read that dogs aren't allowed on the beach until September 15. How strictly is this enforced? We'll be bringing our dog for the weekend.

Black Forest Cake?

This is kind of a random request, but I'm in town with my partner visiting his folks, and I'd like to get a Black Forest cake for his mom's birthday this Saturday. I thought of Chez Michel but they need a week or more for custom orders. Maybe Madison's Bakery? Any idea where to get one in Cape May or the surrounding areas?

Optimal wedding date for swimming

Hi yall! I’m planning to get married in Cape May next year and, while I am open to a late summer/autumn date, my preference would be to go to the beach and SWIM after brunch. I am looking at the second weekend of September next year, the 13th. But I feel like it’s cutting it too close. My other thought of August 9th seemed like it would be crowded and hard to park at the venue.

Please let me know your thoughts! Might throw a curveball and have an October wedding if it’s the best option 🫣

Non-Seafood Menu at 410 Bank Street

Thinking of taking my girlfriend there but she doesn't like seafood. Are the non-seafood options good there as well?
