Hey everyone, I’m not really sure where to turn for this, but I’m in a situation where my workplace is causing me really bad mental health issues , and unfortunately going to my immediately chain of command for help and support is out of the question. Am I allowed to reach out to my CM or trade authority on my own and seek employment elsewhere? I’m reg force. Just looking for guidance.
I attended the concert in Ottawa last night. An awesome display of talent. You probably don't get much appreciation from the troops , probably not as much as the public. I was very impressed 👏
Just curious, are the band members all regular or are some reservists/civilians? How are promotions granted? By time in or music knowledge/number of instruments played or things of this nature?
I’ve been out for a year and a bit now and we’re looking at selling/buying.
I’m curious what portions of the buying and selling process the military covers? Lawyer fees, legal fees, deed transfer tax, etc.
Any information or a link would be amazing. First time dealing with moving in 18 years and I’ve heard it can be a nightmare.
Does anyone have a recommendation for medal Mounting in Edmonton? Ideally some place that I could mail them in as I am from our of the area, but they are the nearest base.
Thank you.
So, I watched a recording of a teams meeting recently where someone who called themselves a “co-champion” (not sure if anyone else was in this or knows who I’m talking about?) was talking about this new push for bilingualism in the Canadian Armed Forces. They mentioned it’s tied to federal laws that are being strengthened or enforced, and it’s apparently going to impact supervisors CAF wide
What stuck out to me was that they said supervisors would need to be bilingual to accommodate members who want to speak in either French or English to their supervisor. But they didn’t really clarify what exactly counts as a “supervisor” — is that everyone in leadership, or specific positions? They said that supervisors would be given a 2 year grace period to learn the second language required
. I’m just wondering how this is going to impact hiring, promotions, and honestly, just people doing their day-to-day jobs. Are we going to lose people who can’t or don’t want to become bilingual? And what about attracting new recruits when the pool of bilingual candidates is smaller
I haven’t seen much chatter about this on Reddit, so I’m curious if anyone else has heard about this meeting or knows more about this implementation. What are your thoughts? Maybe I misunderstood the meeting
There’s a new reading list for all members of the canadian army.
I understand it's mostly a unit level SOP thing, but I was wondering if there's any strict regulations regarding the use of a stand-alone belt rig as opposed to a chest rig. Something like the pattern 82 webbing for example.

Hello, I am currently a serving member and I am looking to Voluntarily Transfer Occupations within the Canadian Armed Forces. I already submitted a VOT application which was accepted by the Base Personnel Selection Office (BPSO) and sent to Ottawa, but I was told that since my current trade is in the red, that I will not be able to leave because the career manager said so and even said so in his yearly career manager briefing. Can anybody give me information on this?
I'm releasing 3B, and am considering using the VRPSM for my last six months.
I'm aware that the overarching intent of the program is to upskill/educate.
I am wondering if it is at all possible to use the program to work at a non-profit community center. I would like to use it to learn about fundraising, budgeting, marketing and the like.
Possible?

Hey, VAC DEC question.. can you earn up to 20000 a year on DEC or is that just while on IRB. Because I read a DEC policy that states
A request for an examination or assessment of the Veteran's DEC status may be made in any of the following circumstances:
statements of earnings indicate that a Veteran with a DEC may be gainfully employed recently for two consecutive years;
This tells me if you earn extra income up to and including 20000 for two consecutive years. VAC will look at trying to get you off DEC..
Good day,
I applied for disability a couple years ago due to a service injury that eventually needed surgery to correct. Fast forward to this month and my second surgery that needed to correct the first one has been completed.
I’ve submitted the re-assessment form but was told by a couple co-workers that you should decline the first offer they make?? Not sure if this is the case, just looking for some advice.
Thanks in advance!!
The photo isn't the greatest but it is all that I have. These are my great grandfather's from WWII. My family doesn't have much info on him or his service so I was hoping for some help
Hey folks, like the title says I'm looking to get some advice on leadership. One of my favourite parts of the job is leading my team, looking out for them, and helping them acheive their goals. The problem is that I've become a bit too much of a workaholic because I love that kind of work; I knew when I woke up on a Saturday with nothing in my head but thoughts of how I was going to accomplish goals on Monday, and that the weekend was an obstacle to getting shit done, that I had to start detaching from the CAF machine and find ways to get that same sense of contributing somewhere else.
All that is to say, other than the Navy League or Cadets, what are some orgs that y'all have found fills that same niche for you?
Hi, I'm not much of a reddit user, so I apologize if this is the wrong forum for this post.
My name is Kemi Emberson, I am looking for some photos of my navy days to show to my kids. I remember one photo from Halloween 2005(?) I think we were in Scotland, there was a photo of me and the Padre in our Halloween costumes, I didn't have one and borrowed one from one of the ladies on board, I think her name was Lindsay, but could be mistaken. Or any good photos from that trip would be great.
Does anyone have experience with the Varusteleka/Savotta Jääkäri rucksack?
I find with the CTS I get crippling shoulder pain after 2k, regardless of how I adjust the shoulder and waist straps. This is almost exclusively when I’m wearing FFO (frag and snack vest), but when In a Tshirt, it works just fine, no pain.
Has anyone tried out the ruck mentioned above? Id also like to hear your experience with the CTS to see if it’s a universal issue, or I’m just unlucky.
I am looking at outsourcing a second opinion regarding a potential MH issue I'm struggling with. I've gone through EAP, and CFMAP. Therapy isn't helping, they only seem to listen and not offer solutions. After months of waiting, I finally got in to see a base Psych. This psych told me because I wasn't in Afghanistan, that its probably not anything. I was in a military related vehicular accident and struggle with some sort of anxiety. He didn't diagnose me, and basically threw meds at me despite no diagnosis. This process is demoralizing having to wait so long just to be told no. I waited months to be denied in a 15 minute conversation.
Forgive me for spamming up CAF Reddit, but I don't know where else to go. They all dodge my calls, don't return them, or tell me they don't know.
I want to get around the gatekeepers, and see if I can outsource to a civy doc. Someone who's actually qualified to provide me with a diagnosis, and not tell me that because I wasn't in Aghanistan, it's probably nothing. Because it is something. It affects my work life, and home life profoundly. Any recommendations as to how to proceed?
If I pay out of pocket for a Civy Psych, how much am I looking at?
Does anyone have experience doing a BGRS move and own a large home gym?
With a suspected posting next APS, I'm worried about damage to my cardio machines. I'm curious about what the experiences others way have had. For reference the types of equipment I'm referring to are the following: Air Runner, assault bike, row erg, bike erg, ski erg. The weights, rack and bars I'm not worried about.
I've done 3 military moves to date, and fortunately have had no issues with damaged possessions.
If anyone has had any experience, be it positive or negative, I'd appreciate to hear it. Especially if it involved damaged and replaced equipment.
Thanks in advance!

What are some equipment/capabilities you would love the CAF to have if it was your job to procure for the CAF? Here is my list below that I would love to see one day. Some we may be already getting in the future, and some may not be our top priority for Canadas current needs.
Boeing AH64 ( or attack helicopters in general )
Corvettes, Destroyers, and a aircraft carrier for the navy
AEW&C
HIMARS
Black hawks for our future light helicopter replacement project
KSS III for our future submarine replacement
ATACMS
Nuclear icebreakers
Bradley A3IFV.
Would love to see more quantity for some of the equipment we already have such as C17’s , Chinooks, Ships, tanks, the list could go on…
Those are some that come to mind. Would love to see better infrastructure in the Arctic in terms of, roads, naval bases, airstrips, permanent strategic permanent bases etc. One could dream right ?
Let’s hear your dream procurements for the CAF below 👇🏼
Good day folks. I retired from the RCAF 25 years ago after 25 years of service. A while back I found a ball cap at Canex "Royal Canadian Airforce Veteran". That cap is ready for its own retirement now and I'd love to get another. Canex say they don't get those anymore.
Would anyone know where I could direct my enquiries for a new one? I would hope some air base might be able to get something like this.
Thanks
