The place for Canadian conservatives on Reddit. Conservatives, libertarians, right-wing populists, right-leaning moderates, and those who just want to ask questions and have discussions without being down-voted in certain other Canadian subreddits are welcome. Our goal is to have a place to have civil higher-quality discussions from a conservative point of view.

Cutting tax without raising the minimum wage is idiotic. Companies will disproportionately benefit from the tax cuts while actual Canadians will receive pennies on the dollar. Pierre has voted against raising minimum wage twice. Lets have him promise lower income tax and higher wages, that way we can actually spend more money and create a flourishing economy rather than funneling money up like those idiots below the border.
Isn't it a bit unseemly for Canadian politicians to be trashing the elected President of our biggest trading partner? More so in light of the "negotiations" our side is incapable of at the moment. This is speech by Angus is every bit as "face-palm" as Trudeau admonishing Americans for not electing its first female President.
I'm no fan of Trump, but he was duly elected in a democratic process, so I find much of the name calling, especially those names involving 20th Century ideologies, a bit misplaced. I expect that at my local bar, but not from our elected officials. Airing off-the-cuff missives in media is Trump's tactic, we know this because he wrote a book about it. So, why are Canadian politicians taking the bait and telling Trump exactly what they think of him prior to negotiations? I can only imagine it's virtue signalling to play to their base, which makes it entirely self-serving. It's not going to help working Canadians through economic turmoil one iota.
Has Mark Carney ever discussed what he plans to do to in order to promote Canadian economic growth? I see a lot of people lauding his credentials, but I don't think I have seen any actual proposals? Freeland has pushed out more policy than he has.
PP I think has mentioned repealing C-69, lowering capital gains taxes, income tax, simplification of tax rules, and cutting government size/spending. To me this makes sense because it will promote investment and more productivity.
Despite Carney's vaunted credentials, I am not sure what Carney can propose that's different AND successfully promote economic growth, especially when he seems opposed to resource development.
Anyone else feel the same? If NDP goes back on their word I think it'll take years for the Liberals and NDP to regain the confidence of Canadian voters. I'm already so tired of being in limbo and I don't blame people if they start a full scale convoy like back in 2022.
