I am in a bad place, don't have many months left before I become homeless, I have years of experience in IT support, can't get call even for the similar roles or positions I already worked for.
Not getting calls for even junior, entry level mineal job...
Tell me one thing, did the laws of physics change, is it harder to do modern jobs?
I thought working in two or three company + experience + education will atleast get a call for pre-screening.
There is a difference between experience vs competence, why do i need to match exact experience for the same role with same or less salary. What do i have to prove?
I will admit, I am very very bad at resume, did my best to make it ATS friendly, taylor it for every resume, added relevant keywords and highlighted achievements, fixed grammar and added clarity, it still it kinda sucks in my opinion.
But in my workplace I was always top employee.. my colleagues loved me ..
Constantly getting suicidal thoughts..
Anyway enough about me, tell me your story.
Hey everyone I'm an urban planner with almost 5 years of experience and I'm looking jobs in Canada online but I have not received any positive replies as of yet. I wanted jobs in British Colombia. Can someone guide me on what i can do as I'm willing for all options?
I'm at my wit's end with this company I currently work for. I've worked for small biz/start ups before and the culture is usually the same. I personally hate how much people expect you to buy into this "family" mindset and how unorganized companies can be or team members becoming annoying. Anyone have a story they could share and advice? Im thinking of leaving cause I cant take this nonsense anymore and want to go somewhere with actual room for growth

I applied for a job in September but was not selected for an interview. I just saw that the job has been posted again and would like to give it another shot.
I’m just wondering, if I edit my resume (tailor it even more to the job and add another role under work experience) and it’s not the same as the previous one submitted in September, would this be an issue?
Thank you

I hear this term everywhere, especially in the Western world: 'Fake it till you make it.'
I always wondered, what is there to fake?
Every company nowadays behaves as if they are recruiting for NASA or the CIA!
Let's say you are hiring for a football coach, and the world's best football player applies for this job, but your ATS system rejects his résumé because he did not have five years' experience in coaching!
This sort of system has forced people to think like sociopaths and lie on their résumés. And you miss out for an opputunity to hire the best candidate, who may not have the exact skills but has the right attitude to solve porblems
Because of you laziness, your workplace is filled with liars and sociopaths! Corporate culture needs to be less cynical and judgmental; there is no need for strict and narrow requirements.
Hire based on attitude; everything else can be taught! There are lots of educational platforms that can train new hires within weeks! Besides, 90% of all jobs that pay below $80K can be done by anyone. If you dont believe me then know that you are the reason why everyone screams "Fake it till you make it"

I'm looking for a job in Ontario and I can't help but feel like I'm looking in the wrong places. I'm usually coming across the same jobs on sites like Indeed so any help to broaden my options would be nice
I’m available for a volunteering job in healthcare project management/administration/information management either remote or hybrid.
I desperately need your help, community.
I’ve been trying to find a job for nearly 3 months now. I have a marketing background (5+ years experience) and I do freelance web design and branding, but I haven’t had luck with that. I’ve been trying everything. Applying on Indeed, setting up a nice profile on LinkedIn, going door to door leaving resumes, sending a bunch of emails, but nothing.
I’ve been applying to restaurants/retail positions, but I’ll take any job in any industry. I also have a full G driver’s license, so I’m interested in driving/delivery job positions as well.
If you happen to know any leads or contacts that are hiring, please send me a DM or comment here!
Hello, I’m working on a new project with a small team and would love to invite some of you to be part of our beta testing community. We’re creating Cedar, an AI-powered career assistant designed to help tech workers find new opportunities by researching, shortlisting, applying, and making warm introductions to hiring managers.
Our team started at Hootsuite and we’re now working on this new initiative for tech workers. We’ve been testing it with friends and have around 1,000 users but are now expanding to more beta testers.
If you’re a tech worker looking for new roles or just want to see what we’re building, email hi@agentcedar.com with what you’re looking for in your next role.
Thank you for your time, and feel free to reach out with any questions!
Hi All,
I am currently in IT Sector and was wondering the the salary of IT jobs within Toronto Hydro, I had an internship there and would love to continue working there for them, but was very curious about what their starting salary would be for a job like IT Technical Consultant or something like network analyst.
And how does that compare to entry level It government jobs for new grads?
Thank you!
A family member doesn't have a strong science background and has been struggling to find a job. I've always off-the-cuff recommended anything medical-related, but what if a person doesn't have a strong science background? Seems like there are bridging programs to top-up on high-school science and get into Medical Office Administration, or X-Ray Technician (2 years) or Sonography (2 years).
My question is: are these fields (MOA, Sonography, X-ray) actually in-demand? My suspicion is that they would be, but that perhaps there is also a huge influx of supply (especially MOA) because it seems the most non-science-y of any medical job.
I'd appreciate any advice about getting into MOA or Sonographer or X-ray tech from the perspective of a non-science person.
Has anyone worked at Kensington Tours? I applied for their Destination Experts (Sales) position, but was just wondering what people thought of working there in general. TIA!
I am a millenial, 8 10 years from now most of us will turn 40.
I have seen a lot of Boomers who are as smart as Milenials interms of adapting to new ideas and technology
Now that Gen Z are taking over the job field, how do you view if a 40 year old applies for an entry level role, will you reject them as OLD?
I feel this is an important concern, I have seen people reinvent themselves in their 60s and 70s will you managers change your view abour old people and hire them if they apply?
Discriminating someone based on their age should be illegal!
So I’m trying to get a job as a data analyst at any of the Canadian banks. I have about 2-3 years of experience as a data analyst and know Python, SQL and PowerBI.
I keep getting my application rejected from TD, Scotiabank, CIBC and RBC. Are these companies just not hiring or am I just not meeting the requirements?
Any tips would help!
Okay I want to preface this with, most people who are struggling to find work are doing everything right and the market just sucks. We have a bunch of nonsense postings and crappy people who never respond.
However, some simple things I see daily that can be why you're not getting hired.
When applying do not assume genders. "Dear hiring manager" works fine, and so does "to whom it may concern" or hello.
Next, do not put your age in your resume or cover letter.
If you're applying from outside of Canada, do your research on if you're eligible to work in roles in Canada or need more education. A lot of the time you need a certificate here to practice.
Generic incorrect details, if you're unsure about a role keep it vague and short. I see people apply daily with incorrect information cause they didn't research and asked chatgpt.
If you can't meet requirements do not apply. For example, you need a license and car for the role, dont apply if you lack both of those.
Anyways, lots of this seems like common sense yet daily I get applicants with these errors.
Goodluck!
TLDR: common errors I see from applicants.

Hi folks,
Lately, I've noticed a lot of FAKE "Consulting Jobs" and ghost job postings. I want to minimize the time I spend applying to fake recruiters who might be stealing my data.
If you’ve identified any patterns, please share!
Also, to those in HR, if you're not actively recruiting, could you please remove your job postings from LinkedIn?
Has anyone worked for or currently work for Student Works? I am looking for some information on the company.

Hey all,

We wanted to uproot and upskills ourselves by following rules in Canada. Some may have abused the rules but we're trained not to do that and we're willing to start from scratch.
We've been at this for over 4 years, while me personally have been aiming to go to Canada from when I was 18.
We wanted to start a family in Canada and integrate with the culture.
It's getting frustrating since we need a job offers to apply for Work Visa, while most jobs require Work Visa and employers are more comfortable in recruiting people from inside Canada.
Thank you for reading, please let me know if you have anything to share, and have a good rest of the day!.

Hi,
I am currently working as a Financial Analyst at Scotiabank for the past 2 years and have been looking for a Business Analyst role.
I have 2 years of experience using SQL. Bachelors in Business Management Supply Chain Operations.
If anyone is willing to connect me with the right person, it would be greatly appreciated!
I graduated from UofT with a degree in Psychology and have been relentlessly searching for jobs in the field of operations, research, and consultancy roles. I’ve had some nice on-campus experience, so I was under the impression that it might give me a bit of an edge... but honestly, this job market is beyond tough.
It feels like no matter how hard I try or how many applications I send, I’m constantly getting ghosted by recruiters. I also try to network online and in-person but it looks like nobody wants to help. I pour my heart into these applications, and then when I try to follow up, I’ll get a reply within five minutes with a rejection. It feels so disheartening because I know I’m capable, but it’s like I’m shouting into a void.
I get that things are competitive, but it’s been so frustrating and exhausting. Every day feels like a new level of rejection.
If anyone has any leads or opportunities, please let me know. I would really appreciate it.
Hi all, as someone new to the job market in Canada, I'd appreciate your input into my question.
When applying to jobs in creative industries in some countries, candidates are usually encouraged to demonstrate their skills and stand out by making their resume and cover letter look more aesthetic. By that I mean a reasonable level of creativity (colour scheme or accents, fonts, formatting appropriate for professional use). It also should be ATS-friendly.
In Canada from what I heard so far a resume should be formal, black and white with standard fonts and without any column/table formatting to make it more ATS-proof for ATS with stricter rules. Does this apply to creative industries as well? If so, to evaluate the creative skills of a candidate do HRs/hiring managers just go to the portfolio linked in the resume? If you want to stand out, is it acceptable to still do minor changes like font colour? Any other advice is welcome.
