My husband and I are moving to st neots from london to have more space as we have a new born child
From what I can tell, the st neots commute to London city is very doable. But what is the commute like specifically to Canary Wharf in terms of time, price and comfort ?
Just wanted to say thank you in advance for any insights
Hello all,
Me and my husband are looking at properties in Great Shelford/Stapleford. We've been to the area, absolutely love it, we have been a few times to look at it as well as view houses. But living somewhere is different to visiting. It's rural (fine with us, close to cambridge which is great and it has a train station, which is a bonus).
Does anyone from there or live there have like it, recommend the area etc. Also London Road (A1301), how busy does that get during the peak times?
Thanks for you help!
Hi all. Looking for recs for great secondary schools in Cambridgeshire please! Looking for a school with kind and friendly kids, good standards of behaviour and low tolerance of bullying. Our 11 year old son is a really good kid and we are relocating from America (originally from England but new to Cambs) so it is a huge transition. I want to make sure we find him a good place to make new friends and feel settled.

I love late night drives, I moved to St Neots recently so wondering if there are any nice viewpoints / big hills you can drive up park at the top with scenic views around Cambridgeshire?
We're looking at buying a house in the Love's Farm area of St Neots and just trying to find out if there's a flight path over it and, if so, if there's any plane noise.
I've checked all over and can't find any information but did see a few articles from 2020ish about a flight path change.
Also, to be cheeky, if there's anything else we should know about the area, that would be awesome! āŗļø
Hi guys What is good town or city to move in Cambridgeshire
Hey everyone! š
I'm working on a zine all about the Fen Tigers and their rebellious spirit, and Iād love to team up with some of you! The plan is to dive into the history of the Fen Tigers in the first half, and then explore what it means to be a modern-day Fen Tiger in the second half.
So, if youāve got that Fen Tiger vibe, care about the biodiversity of the fens, or have thoughts on rewilding and rewetting the land, Iām all ears!
Iām looking for stories, artwork, poems, rants, photosāanything that connects to the fens, both past and future. Letās make something wild and wonderful together.
If youāre up for contributing, or know someone who is or just want to chat, or ask some questions drop me a message on here or my Instagram (@fen.folk)
Letās create something that really captures the spirit of the fens!
TY! š¾
Imagine this: the 17th-century Fenlandsāa wild, soggy stretch of England where rebellion was as common as rain. Even before the 1600s, the fens were a refuge for anyone sticking a finger up to authority. Back in the 1100s, Hereward the Wake turned Ely into his HQ, fighting the Normans with a bunch of Anglo-Saxon outlaws who eventually settled down and became fen dwellers themselves.
Fast forward 500 years, and that same rebellious streak came roaring back. Enter the Fen Tigersālocals who fought tooth and nail against the drainage workers trying to turn their marshland into farmland. They torched reed beds, sabotaged dykes, and made life hell for anyone threatening their way of life. But despite their fierce resistance, they watched helplessly as their world was drained away, leaving them with nothing but their untameable spirit.
Hi, we're considering moving to St. Neots due to the affordability of buying a house, and we found it to be clean, nice, and calm (based on a few visits). We both work remotely. Could you share your thoughts on what it's like to live in this city?
Looking for somewhere with some soul, some shops not just a Nisa Local - any suggestions other than Sawston?
Looking to move to a town south of Cambridge - have some requirements that im not sure exist..ideally a high street with a supermarket, butcher, baker, playground/pond maybe. The only place I can see is Sawston which i've not heard great things about
Could anyone chime in?
Hello all! My family and I who live in the States are planing a trip to England, Ireland, Scotland, the whole usual tourist experience. My surname is maxey and I've done a little (not much) research on the "Maxey Castle" in Cambridgeshire and was wondering if it was possible to visit the area during our vacation. Possibly inquire on a little history of the area if at all possible. Thanks for any info!
Hi everyone,
My partner and I are currently based in North London, and we're exploring the possibility of moving to St Neots or Huntingdon, aiming for a better lifestyle and more affordable housing.
I havenāt visited yet but I am planning a trip there in a few weekends. From what Iāve seen online, both St Neots and Huntingdon look lovely, and the train connections to London are ideal since I occasionally need to commute for work.
I would really appreciate any insights from locals about life in St Neots and Huntingdon. Are there specific neighbourhoods you'd recommend or perhaps some to avoid?
Thanks in advance!
Hi guys, Iām an amateur landscape photographer and Iāve recently moved to Peterborough and Iām struggling to get my photography fix locally.
I know the surrounding areas are not well known for landscape photography (unless anyone knows any hidden gems they can share š) so Iām thinking about trying my hand at wildlife photographyā¦. Are there any photographers on here that can recommend any decent locations or even hides locally? Bonus points if you know any good pro wildlife photographers locally that offer workshops/121s!
Happy to travel within an hour of Peterborough max
Thanks
Does anyone know where I'd be able to find some land or a field to host a family get together festival. The plan is to have music, food and camping.
Any advice would be very much appreciated!
Hi all,
Back in Cambs for the holidays and while driving home I remembered there used to be a roadside, western-themed restaurant called The Ponderosa - does anyone remember this?
Apologies, cannot for the life of me remember exactly where it was!
Where would be suitable places to live to commute to Hinxton? Probably willing to commute 45mins. Iād prefer to live somewhere with a bit of life if possible and the cheaper the better obviously, but I understand that might be asking too much.
The catch is I canāt drive. Iām not convinced about cycling either as I think Iād get myself killed on the roads (thereās a reason I canāt drive - total lack of situational awareness). How reliable are the trains? Any suggestions? Thank you for any suggestions!
