Which version is the best version to listen to? Im a casual listener who first heard of this band from the Twisted Metal TV show with the song "The Distance". I love that song and saw there was a 2022 deluxe edition remaster, and I just wanna know if the remaster sounds better than the original or not.
Same with Comfort Eagle. I love Short Skirt, Loooooooooooooooooong Jacket. That also got a deluxe edition remaster.
Saw Cake at the Salt Shed last night. Great show! They covered She Thinks I Still Care. I would really like to listen to it again but I can't find any recordings of them covering this song. Anyone know where I can find it? Thanks!
See title. Thank you!!!
I have loved cake forever and I want to take my gf but only have so much to spare. Maybe let’s make a deal? Gracias ☺️
I'm seeing them in Chicago.
I’d love to see their Chicago show at the Salt Shed but can’t spring for the available premium tickets. Posting here on the off chance anyone is looking to sell to a fellow fan. Thanks in advance!
I previously posted that CAKE had a new original song they played live (https://www.reddit.com/r/Cakeband/s/7vs6CYfHrV) so when they announced a new song on the compilation album Songs for Sex (https://open.spotify.com/track/5SMydTMtNUn7h1hKNtclV1?si=UMax1inXQz2um0GwuS3dng&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A3YOaQQo6HwSvykNOqCaTvb) I figured it’d be the same song I heard live.
It’s not! It’s ANOTHER original CAKE song! Enjoy your Friday :)
Are the reissues going to include all of the lps, covers and live albums or should I just throw money at the rsd box set
A mystery that's been on my mind for for years... I love Cake. I saw them do a show in Manhattan in the early '00s... and it was so bad! The band never seemed to find its groove. John sat down on the stage at one point. Do they just have bad shows sometimes? Was someone in the band going through some things? Was John sick? Has anyone seen this from them? Was anyone else there and remembers this show?
CAKE played a new original song (and a George Jones cover) last night at the Frontwave Arena in Oceanside, CA! The arena just opened and CAKE was the first to play there so maybe that’s why they decided to debut a new song.
I thought it sounded great! Good lyrics (vaguely about climate change and a billionaire watching it all from space) and a really pretty melody.
Hopefully they’ll record and release it soon :)
Does anyone have an extra ticket for Oceanside?
I was at barrier all night and security was pretty strict about no recording. If anyone has a good video of the performance, I’d love to see it!
My friend bought a ticket months ago and didn’t tell me so now it’s the day of the show and I completely forgot. If anyone has any extra tickets LMK!!!
Hi guys- the show tonight starts at 7:30. Does anyone know if they have an opening act?
So, any thoughts on the Atlanta show getting cancelled due to the incessant rain and likely venue mudfest? Maybe the show gets moved to another venue (Center Stage, maybe)?
I Will Survive. Was this not an awesome cover? What do you think about it?
Wheels is one of my favorite Cake songs. Anyone else notice how it’s similar to the children’s song
Wheels on the Bus, but played with minor chords?
I've been a CAKE fan since MS* but just now going to my first show (Atlanta 9/28). *My good bud queued up Going the Distance on the CD player one afternoon bus ride and I've been hooked every since.
I got VIP tickets bc f standing the whole time in the GA late summer. Anyone have some tips, lessons, stories from CAKE shows in the past?
Do they sign things? Is it worth bringing one of my vinyl covers with me?
I grew up listening to Prolonging the Magic, it was the soundtrack of my high school experience. When I finally got spotify a few years ago I made several playlists, one of them being for CAKE. As I was listening to the album while doing so, I could sing along with every single song and even got the old "hyah's" and such in the right place.
Except for Hem of Your Garment. It immediately felt off. Like it's the same song but the pacing is different or something. Then when I was moving I found my old cd collection and thought I'd settle it by listening to the original. Except when I found the case for Prolonging the Magic, it was empty.
I just really need to know if I'm crazy here or not. Can anyone with access to the original and spotify confirm one way or the other for me, please? You would have my eternal gratitude.
Does anyone else remember hearing a Cake cover of Knock Three Times by Tony Orlando? I swear I had this on a mixtape at some point but I can’t find it ANYWHERE! Am I just crazy and this never actually happened? Or if it did, where could I find it? It was so good!
