I really want to know if there is a reason behind me thinking that Cake is british. Like others, I recently discovered them through Fortnite with Short Skirt / Long Jacket.
I'm not a native speaker but I really thought the singer was british... Is there any valid reason for that?
I started a tribute band to Cake. What should we call it?
Okay, the Motorcade thread was fun
We know ranking is painful, and also in a sense pointless because we get to just listen to them all!, but I find it fun to find out how others feel about the music, and sometimes it spurs me to give songs another chance that I had written off (I'm looking at you, Up So Close)!
So, who's up to try it?
EDIT: what I've seen other subs do is have one post per track, day after day after day, but I wasn't necessarily up for all that, so I'm trying this. It worked okay enough the first time but we'll see...
Who's brave enough to try it...
I’m pretty new to cake but I have fallen deeply in love, (thank you Italian leather sofa), anyway I love hearing demos/unreleased tracks so if they have any in circulation send em my way please!
This might be a long shot, but is anyone able to share the presale code for the upcoming Dillon Amphitheater show? Presale begins later today.
Anyone know where I can find pricing for the Red Rocks show July 2025?
Covers can be included of course.
The lyrics are seemingly nonsensical, but its such a good song
I have my own ideas about the meaning of PPP, but have seen some vastly different interpretations.
Mine is that it’s written from the perspective of someone who attributes the success of the woman/women he’s addressing on their female-ness, while ignoring the possibility that she got there on her own merits. I read the song as a comment on misogyny and assumed that’s what most people thought. Some of the random commentary on it that I’ve seen claims the song is about women using femininity to get ahead, which makes me cringe as a woman since I find the song pretty empowering to me as a reminder that I got to where I am in life by working hard even in the face of some pretty sexist ideas along my trajectory.
Anyone care to share their thoughts?
I remember there was some lore about why this video was completely disjointed from the lyrics, but can't remember if it was real or some fever dream.
Hi, I remember hearing a song by cake where the singer repeats "turn around" multiple times in the middle, but I cant seem to find it when I search up the internet. Anyone has any idea which song it is?
this morning me and my dad were talking about songs, this band came up because me and my dad are both avid CAKE listeners, we start naming off songs that we like and my dad thinks of a song, now we both know this song exists but we can’t remember the name or the lyrics but we do remember what it was about(kinda), so it was about him going on a date or somethin and he mentioned his dates sister (she had a name idk what it was tho) and it was pretty popular as well when i go to reddit so PLEASE help me find this song
Which version is the best version to listen to? Im a casual listener who first heard of this band from the Twisted Metal TV show with the song "The Distance". I love that song and saw there was a 2022 deluxe edition remaster, and I just wanna know if the remaster sounds better than the original or not.
Same with Comfort Eagle. I love Short Skirt, Loooooooooooooooooong Jacket. That also got a deluxe edition remaster along with every album they released.
Edit: was the remasters a vinyl exclusive only or did they also release it for digital too?
